I still use Arc Browser

I still use Arc Browser as my daily browser on my mac and I didn't look for alternatives for the past 6 months.

Just wanted to know if it's just me or there are other users like me?

What happened to Kurdistan subreddit?

This morning I opened a notification regarding Kurdistan subreddit, but it says this community is not available!
Is it just me or it's removed from Reddit?

Update: I found it, I'm not sure why, but for the past hour it was not coming up from search results and notifications.

Need opinions: What are your thoughts on moving a desktop launcher's search box to the bottom to accommodate AI?

Im a solo developer building a desktop launcher, and right now the main text input is at the top. but we also have an ai chat thread inside, and chat inputs are always at the bottom.

so when u switch from launcher to ai, the text box suddenly jumps from top to bottom. it makes your eye look for it and breaks the workflow.

to fix this, the proposal on github is to push the main launcher search box to the bottom permanently. they made a good point using examples like old msn messenger, apple maps, and modern ai chats—showing how the input sits at the bottom and the results just flow upwards.

it kind of makes sense for a conversational feel, but i feel like desktop users are super hardwired to look at the top for a search bar.

what do u guys think? would you hate a desktop launcher with a bottom search bar? should we stick to the top and just let it jump, or does the bottom input proposal actually make sense for modern apps?

Hi,
I have been working on a Raycast alternative for more than a year, now the beta releases are available for testing.

https://preview.redd.it/5p2fq4gx86zg1.png?width=1676&format=png&auto=webp&s=bb368b91f601cb46a2add7fa5178b9ca5c64fd24

the current features Asyar provides includes.

  1. Clipboard history
  2. Application launcher
  3. Snippets
  4. Portals (Equivalet to quiclinks in Raycast)
  5. Shortcuts and Aliases
  6. Calculator
  7. window management
  8. Ai chat
  9. Creating your own extensions
  10. A store to publish and install extensions and themes
  11. Creating custom themes
  12. Local backup and restore
  13. Deep link integration
  14. Background scheduling

Asyar is extensible, meaning anyone can create their own extensions using more than 25 api and services using the launcher services and Windows services.

The launcher is in beta the ui on Windows and Linux distros with x11 (Wayland not supported) is not polished fully compared to the Macos version, that is a work in progress and any contributions are very welcome regarding bug fixes and polishing the windows version.

The screenshot is captured on Macos, so the Windows version is a little different.

Any feedback and bug reports or any contributions are very welcome.

For more than a year I have been busy with building Asyar launcher, A Raycast alternative but open source and local-first.

Asyar Launcher

The launcher is extensible and most of the features supported by Raycast is supported by Asyar too.

  • Clipboard history
  • Snippets
  • Window management
  • hotkeys and aliases
  • Calculator
  • Quicklinks
  • Ai chat

Regarding extensions, there is even more than 25 api's and services that you can build upon it.

The launcher is totally free and local-first and open source.
