Another boring landlord. Tenant disagreement
First off, I'm a 42-year-old lifetime renter and I've never had the issues that I've had before now and have never had to make any kind of contact to legal advisors in order to figure out what to do.
I'm going to State several issues which are all basic information but have more depth in each situation:
Shows up unannounced randomly, several times, throughout the week. I've lived in rented properties and have had less communication with those owners for years as opposed to this landlord for the past month.
It's a community housing so he tries to randomly knock on doors and getting in, he snoops around and makes assumptions that people are smoking in units which is not true.
Randomly showed up knocking on my door to 'talk to me'. He tried to impose an app, that was not approved by my app store, on a third party site. Doing this one-on-one he was very aggressive in the way he wanted me to download this app. I never did download it, which made him angry.
He made a profile on that app without my permission. Giving all my information that I've given him to that app.
Has an ongoing construction project which is turning as many areas of the community areas into bedrooms. I swear if he could have made the kitchen and bathroom into a bedroom he would have.
From the construction he has poor construction going on. Live wires, open electrical many electrical infractions that not only go against the Canadian electrical code but the building code in my area. And he pretty much turned the only living room into bedrooms and just put up a wall of drywall, some mud and tape and called it a day then started moving people in.
This one's way more in-depth because he was also deceptive during the walk-through for renting this room and he said it was ongoing construction but it wasn't. It's been like this for a year. Then I set up a building inspector appointment but he called them and lied to cancel that appointment.
- After finding out that I set up that appointment, he cut off my internet access, and has cranked my heat to unlivable temperatures. It's well over 40° c. In my room even if the outside temperature is 10° c
And just a side note, I really feel like after trying to get lawyer information and advice and just digging around trying to figure out laws and everything that pertains to everything that I've mentioned. I've come to the conclusion that landlords have way more accessibility when it comes to the legality of everything as opposed to the tenants.
In the end I feel like he's created hazards and lied, and takes no accountability because he knows he can get away with everything.
