Increase in ICE activity
Hey, folks! We are seeing an uptick in ICE activity in the Rogue Valley. A lot of us are feeling a sense of urgency, but it is super important that we not spread panic or fear. That doesn't help anyone.
Quick refresh: Help spread facts. Spread the PIRC, ECO, and Sanctuary Promise hotlines; do not share unverified information, as this spreads panic. Confirm news and rumors by asking about sources and specifics, and have witnesses call PIRC to verify.
Our communities need us! There's never been a better time than now to attend a Migra Watch training either in-person or virtually. PIRC is hosting a free virtual Migra Watch training June 9th and 20th. Check out the photos in this post for the QR code to register.
Rogue Valley Migra Watch shares confirmed sightings and other helpful information through Facebook and Instagram (@migra_watch_rv). They also host in-person Migra Watch trainings, so watch for those announcements. Also consider taking a Know Your Rights training.
If you are feeling hopeless, make a plan. Talk to your neighbors. Get involved with local Migrant and Indigenous organizations, such as UNETE and Coalición Fortaleza.

Unemployment in the US when fired
My SO recently got fired from her job so she is not able to collect unemployment. As far as I can tell, she doesn't qualify for any assistance until she requalifies from a new job. She has not yet been able to find work so she is just out of money. What is the expectation of her now? Her kids? Is she, and by extension them, just supposed to die? We are making it as I make enough so it's more of a general question.
EDIT: Fired for cause. The actual reason isn’t relevant
