Is it just me or were skin, hair and nails way better when we used fewer products? 😭

Is it just me or were skin, hair and nails way better when we used fewer products? 😭

Not bashing extensive routines at all , if it works for you amazing babe.

But I feel like back when I only used basic stuff like face wash, moisturizer, sunscreen, and simple hair oiling/shampooing, everything was healthier. ( I am talking about a year and half ago , not my teenage days )

Now after getting into serums, actives, layering and detailed routines with tons of research my skin feels more sensitive and my hair looks dull sometimes. Anyone else feel the same?

Edit – Guys I’m not talking about basic skincare like CTMS. Basic skincare is a MUST. I mean extensive routines with many serums, actives , steps etc. This post isn’t meant to bash anyone or any routine at all, just a healthy discussion for people who’ve felt or experienced something similar.

Are hair mists actually worth the investment or just another marketing gimmick ( hair mist by hair drama detailed review)

Got this hair drama gift set during nykaa sale because there was a huge discount going on (₹159 for the whole set). I brought them for gifting but liked the fragrances so I thought of giving them a try.

Pros —

• They smell amazing. Blush rush is fruity floral fresh while cake pop smells like warm vanilla cupcakes.

• Completely non-greasy. I apply them near my ends and they still don’t weigh my hair down a bit!

• Fragrance lasts around 1–2 hours, even longer on freshly washed hair.

Cons —

• Packaging talks a lot about hair-friendly ingredients, but the ingredient list also has quite a few things that don’t feel safe for regular use!

• worth buying only during huge discount. You can get bigger and safer body/hair mists around ₹300–400( nykaaa ones are good) .

Final verdict —

Good if you use them once in a while ..like when you haven’t washed your hair and something urgent pops up or you just want your hair to smell fresh before an event or date. Other than that it feels more like another marketing gimmick than must have product.

Dear alum… wish we met earlier

Ignored you for years despite hearing about you literally everywhere… and now that I finally gave in? Best adult decision ever.

Every fancy deo makes me sweat + smell weird after 2-3 hours. You keep me odour free ALL DAY. Even after removing shoes in peak summer… still no smell. Insane for ₹10.

And somehow you also decided to:

-> calm those tiny shaving bumps on my arms & legs after shaving

->reduce my backacne by like 70%

-> almost vanished my underarms acne due to sweat and constant shaving

->save me money AND bathroom shelf space

Oo alum wish we met earlier — a girl who spent half her income on deos and body acne products 🤡

Edit – How I Use This ✨

I wet the alum stone and gently rub it on clean underarms or skin after bathing, then let it dry naturally. I use it 2–3 times a week on my body, every alternate day on my underarms and daily on the back of my feet. I also make sure to wait at least 5 minutes before applying it on freshly shaved skin. Afterward, I follow up with either Vaseline Gluta Sunscreen or CAP Barrier Repair Lotion depending on the time of day.

These cute tints deserve way more attention ( review + swatches)

Product name - Insight cheek tint

My take - They’re pigmented, buildable and surprisingly long lasting. Plus they give a pretty sheen to the cheeks and come in pretty packaging for such an affordable price.

I honestly use them more on my lips and they keep them hydrated for pretty long while leaving behind a stain that barely fades. As a cheek tint you just gotta blend fast (it dries pretty quickly) and build it up a little but once it sets it stays all day until unless you sweat a lot or wear heavy dewy transferable base.

Watermelon( red one) varient gives such a pretty natural flushed look and will suit most skin tone. Cherry ( orange one) gives more of a sunkissed look but may not work on every skin tone. Didn't like the third varient beetroot that much bit dark for my liking ( pic not included)

My once in a while pamper routine and I hope this post pushes you a little to pamper yourself tomorrow too 💛

Not something I do every week/ month..just whenever I want to feel extra relaxed, glowy and pampered or before something special 💛

Morning ☀️

Hair — Any Clarifying shampoo →alps henna hair color for 30-40 mins → Dove hair mask after rinsing for 20 mins → rinse again & apply arata serum on the ends.

It makes my hair feel so soft, shiny, and healthy. These days I’m really into jet black hair and this gives me that look without damaging my hair.

Body — Dove body polish → Earth Rhythm soap as shaving foam → shave →CAP barrier repair body lotion → any perfumed body lotion → followed by a nice mist/EDP.

No strawberry legs, smooth shave, soft glowy skin and I smell so good the entire day ( i do this while apply heena (saves time)

Night 🌙

Face — AHA BHA peel for 8-10 mins → rinse with ice cold water → wait for 10–15 mins → spray rose water & apply a collagen mask for 2 hours.( collagen claim is market gimmick but this works well as deep hydrating mask)

Sometimes I apply the OG ubtan instead of aha bha.

Hands & Feet — While the mask dries, I do my O3 manicure & pedicure followed by boroline as the final step while lighting my favorite scented candle and playing soothing music.

Then I end the routine with some chamomile tea and good sleep 🤍

What’s your once in a while pamper routine girlies? And how does it make you feel/look? ✨

Note: AHA BHA peels followed by these kinds of masks are not for most people. Please don’t try this just because it somehow works for me. I’m only sharing what works for my skin with my girlies not recommending anything.

Another day another disappointment (experience with Pantene lively clean )

So I have an oily scalp with dry ends so finding a shampoo that actually works is already a struggle. I already use an ayurvedic shampoo that works fine but the smell is so bad that I was looking for something affordable that smells nice and actually cleans properly. I’ve already tried almost every commercial shampoo marketed for oily hair including the whole Loreal range.

After seeing so many comment under reddit posts recommending this pantene shampoo..I finally gave in.

And man… this thing turned my hair into jhadu. Completely Lifeless

If I use a small amount, it feels like I didn’t wash my hair at all. If I use a decen amount, my scalp feels stripped and my hair turns dry, rough and weirdly stiff. Even conditioner looked tired trying to save my ends. And yes I know it’s a clarifying shampoo and not meant for daily use ( once in 10 days ). I used it properly and gave it multiple chances before posting this.

Only good thing? It smells nice.

Anyone else had the same experience or am I doing something wrong ?

Nykaa Pink summer sale haul 💖 ( a little late)

Ngl I wanna give myself a pat on the back for actually restocking only my essentials instead of buying random stuff just because the sale was on 😭

Also got this gift set on the side because the discount was too good to ignore… and turns out it’s good that I’m keeping it for myself now 😂

And before anyone points it out ..yes, I know collagen masks are total gimmicky, but I use this one purely for deep hydration and it works really well for me. Rest are my daily / weekly essentials

Things like this still break my heart even though my acne has healed.

Give me flashbacks of all the taunts , uncomfortable stares , unsolicited stupid advices and ignorance due to lack of any science based knowledge on acne( or human body in general)

Three weeks simple hand routine that actually paid off ✨ ( what works for me)

Little bg - house shifting, paint/dust, harsh sun, dehydration, and lack of sleep made my skin hair and hands super dry, rough tan and crusty. So I followed this simple routine for almost 3 weeks and saw a huge difference. So thought of sharing with you all .

• Used the O3+ manicure kit ( bubblegum one) I could see a difference instantly. I only did it twice..once at the beginning and once yesterday ( 18 days gap )

• Ethiglo soap every other night followed with thick layer of Boroline mixed with castor oil( everyday) . Additionally applied nail serum on my nail and cuticles (freebie from faces Canada)

• Morning - sunscreen (vaseline Gluta-Hya SPF 50) re-apply thorogout the day

My hands finally look soft, healthy, and hydrated again 🥹

A cute little nail paint date with my 7-year old nephew 💅

He absolutely loves applying nail paint and is always asking me to paint his nails in different colors. A gentleman with no gender-specific bullshit in the making 🤌🏾

Mini Savana haul. Yup, I ordered it 15 days ago without knowing their sale is coming 🤡 not feeling great about it🥲

People on beauty sub were talking about this last week.

Although I got everything during a flash sale for around 45%-60% off and honestly everything is really pretty. The quality is good too..These bags feel solid and look even better in real life ( gonna remove the charm from the brown one)

The eyelashes? They ate. Give such a natural look. ( don't come with glue though ) Eyelash Curler is decent ..not too good not too bad .

Just hoping the jewelry doesn’t tarnish after a few uses🤞 and the mini detangler comb is super cute and compact.

A lot of people always say “just go to a dermatologist” for every skin issue and I get that they mean well. But honestly, many dermats especially in tier 2–3 cities and government hospitals ..just don’t really care about the patient’s skin condition !

And no, this post is not about bashing all dermatologists. I know there are some genuinely amazing doctors who are highly experienced and help a lot of people. But I’m specifically talking about the careless ones in smaller cities/towns who barely examine your skin and immediately hand out strong prescriptions without properly explaining how to use them safely.

I remember when I started getting severe adult acne. My whole face was covered in painful cystic acne. I went to 10+ dermats over 3 years. One prescribed tretinoin and simply said “apply it every night.” She never bothered explaining that you’re supposed to introduce it slowly, use sunscreen properly, avoid over-exfoliating or even things like sandwich method/purging. On top of that, she prescribed a salicylic acid face wash to use right before tret 🥲

Another dermatologist prescribed Glyco 6 and told me to use it twice daily .. morning and night. I literally used it in the morning too. After 1–2 weeks, I felt something was seriously wrong and stopped immediately (thank God I did).

And government hospital dermats? Half the time they don’t even properly look at your skin. They just write prescriptions in 2 minutes ..often expensive products that conveniently happen to be available in the nearby pharmacy! One prescribed me a zinc oxide lotion costing ₹1800 for 50ml… for active cystic acne 🥲 Another gave me medication for acne vulgaris.

My skin got so bad that I had to leave my study for a year. I completely lost trust in dermatologists. I even tried Ayurvedic doctors and honestly saw more improvement there than with some of these dermats.

And the uncomfortable expressions they make while looking at your skin issue make it even worse. One doctor literally made a disgusted, almost puking face when she saw my acne and said, “chuu chuu ye toh bahut bure haal hain”

That honestly shattered my confidence so badly that for the longest time, I was scared and embarrassed to even visit another doctor.

Then finally I found one old, experienced dermatologist (sadly he’s no more 🥲). He was the first doctor who actually sat with me for more than 5 minutes, asked detailed questions about my diet, gut health, hormones, products I had used, lifestyle.. everything. And surprisingly, he prescribed only 2–3 simple products. That was the first time I actually started seeing improvement. He didn’t just prescribe products ..he educated me about adult acne, skin barrier damage, diet, and gut health too.

Even my mom had similar experiences while treating fungal infections. Same rushed prescriptions, expensive products, zero explanation.

Does anyone else from smaller cities/towns in India have similar experiences with dermats?

We all know how much our diet affects our skin. And for good digestion and healthy skin, a healthy gut is key.

But with today’s lifestyle..fast food, late night work, messed up meal timings..it's hard to maintain good gut health.

So how are you all managing it? I really need some solid solid tips..
