Fixing cracks in drywall that reappeared?

We had these cracks in the drywall and hired a contractor that we trust to mud the wall and fix the cracks. However, the cracks came back. What options do we have to fix them so that we can paint the wall?

Rifle instruction in WNY?

I'm a new shooter, having exclusively shot rifles. I don't really have much of an interest in pistols. I'm looking to take some classes or possibly get some private lessons for rifle marksmanship. The only class I've ever taken was a beginner rifle class that was basically just "Point your gun down range or down at the ground. Here's how you line up iron sites. Here's 200 rounds. Have fun." I really just enjoy sitting at a bench with my Cz457 and just trying to hit a bullseye and would like to do it more consistently and further out. I could see myself trying 22PRS or NRL22 or *maybe* even some long range. However, I don't have friends with experience shooting and I didn't grow up with it so I'm kinda just going to the range and winging it. I don't want to develop bad habits. I'm basically looking for the following

  1. how to set up my gear correctly

  2. fundamental marksmanship

  3. miscellania (I don't know what I don't know)

I've don't some Google searching and a lot of stuff is returning CCW courses, pistol defense, and shotgun defense, none of which interest me right now. Bull Creek Strategic has carbine classes and precision rifle classes, but those don't quite seem right. I may just see about their private instruction, but does anyone have any experience with them or have recommendations for somewhere else?

Please don't suggest YouTube. I've watched plenty of videos. But it only goes so far, especially if you don't have a solid foundation in which to build off of.

Question regarding borebuddy complete uppers

It's probably a stupid question, but I'm new to the AR platform and firearms in general.

I purchased a complete economy upper from bore buddy and the pictured baggy was rolled up in one of the hand guard openings. I was under the assumption that I could buy a complete upper and just drop it on a completed lower and I'd essentially be good to go. Was I mistaken?

PSLF Rant and Advice

I've been in SAVE forbearance for.. however long. It's almost July 1st. I know there was that REPAYE lawsuit filed on Friday or whatever. I can't apply for buyback yet, but if I count those months, I'm ~24 payments away from 120.

Before SAVE was killed, my last payment amount was $162. The calculator says $1390 for IBR, $1760 for ICR, and $1670 for RAP.

What. The actual. Eff. In the past two years I've been able to buy a house and have my first kid.

I've got a mortgage and a kid and daycare expenses coming up. I can make *a* payment. I can't make *that* payment.

What the eff do I do? (rhetorical)

But really, what the eff do I do? (For real)

Would could these metal rods be?

My wife loves this wall mounted drying rack idea and I figure it looks easy enough for a beginner so I'm going to give it a shot. However, I don't know what those metal rods could be. Googling "double threaded end metal rod" led me to charging rods which, hell, repurposing a car part has probabky happened a ton. But just wondering if there was something else/more appropriate it could be?

Edit: I didn't even think of it being fully threaded. The fact that I can get a pair at home depot for like five bucks makes me super happy. Thanks you all!

Looking for idea on how to close off this room

So, we've got cats and dogs. The cats and dogs don't get along. This leads to us having a hard time enjoying large portions of our house because we're managing animals. We're looking for a way to close off this area so we can contain the cats for periods of time. The only idea we've come up with that's even remotely aesthetically pleasing would be putting bard doors on the other side so we can slide them closed. Does anyone else have other ideas?

Edit: we're looking for something relatively inexpensive and DIY-able.

What is your lower quality bound for Buy Cheap Stack Deep?

I got my first gun, a 22lr rifle, earlier this year. I also purchased 5000 rounds of CCI SV because it was better than the *bulk* bulk and at ten cents a round, who really cares about cpr?

But soon I'll be able to shoot .223/5.56 and, well, at literally quadruple the cost, cpr matters to me. Do you just have a starter stash of whatever is cheapest just so you can shoot and then set alerts for preferred brand? If so, what's your preference?

Legally acquiring semi automatic rifle (at all, not just NYS) without pistol permit?

So, my understanding for rifles is that you only need the permit to purchase a semi automatic rifle, and that merely possessing them is fine without the permit. I don't really have an interest in pistols, but will be getting my permit... Eventually. You know, wait times etc.

I am close to both Ohio and Pennsylvania, and will be visiting family in North Carolina in a few months. So my question is this, is there any legal way for me to acquire a semiautomatic rifle without having a pistol permit? Not even anything extravagent, just like a 10/22 or maybe a lower receiver.
