Was It worth the headache? Absolutely!!!!
Watching youtube( after I finally fixed pipewire and wireplumber)
Ghelper to mostly control the hardware and the keyboard lighting
obligatory neofetch(with stuff happening in the back ground
Man that's a small footprint(idle)
For reference before I jumped to artix(win11 idle)
Finally made the jump to artix in my gaming laptop(though I'm no stranger to Linux at this point as I have used mint, and Debian for almost two years now) now the path here is not easy (I did use a vm to nail the process of base install of artix) . Post boot the stuff that I decided to do are :
1.configure snapper
set up ghelper for linux(link : https://github.com/utajum/g-helper-linux )
make audio working (pipewire , wireplumber)
After that I decided to rest, It took me 5 hours to install this thing cause the first try didn't work due to me mounting the wrong directories( skill issue) and another 3 just to get those 3 working. Now Im jsut going to deal with:
- Nvidia drivers
2.screen brightness
3.further artix optimization
- configuring i3 keybinds
5.Steam(proton gaming)
- prollly ricing my sddm and i3 setup a bit?
But man I'm currently happy that I finally moved my gaming laptop to linux(don't get me wrong, windows worked well but with the current issues on it that kinda pushed me to move to linux and Im kinda broke to upgrade my system). My advice for the others jumping to a systemd less system? invest your time in reading the wiki, learning it (its fine to use ai just make sure to learn what the commands are so you know what youre getting yourself into) and consider your needs( for me moving to linux is easy because most the stuff I use are already native or compatible with linux when I was still in windows). last thing you want is you not doing the thing you need. Again happy to be part of the artix community and do expect me having me some inquires about artix!! GODSPEED!!!
oh last thing I use Artix+openrc and system is the notebook pc Asus tuf a15 FA507NUR( ryzen 7 7435hs with rtx 4050).
