A solid 24k gold Pirates of the Caribbean Aztec Gold Medallion, fresh out of the forge today.

I have been wanting to make one of these forever.

It weighs 1.75 ounces, making it worth roughly $7,700 today! I just just a wee bit nervous pouring 2 oz of molten gold over a dirt floor.... But full success! Thankfully. I couldn't be happier how it turned out.

I love how diverse silver is as an art median. All the beautiful rings and pendants you all make!

Then I choose to make it into handstruck pirate coins.

Done in the same way as the originals 400 years ago. Mine all start as this beautiful shot. I love how it looks! I have a jar of about 20 oz for myself just to look at ; ) here is 120 oz ready to be melted into pirate silver!

My latest genuine Spanish treasure "piece of 8" i received today.

It's a real beauty minted in Mexico sometime from 1607-1617.

No seaware on this one, so it would have been a land find somewhere at some point most likely, not attributed to any shipwreck.

I just can't get enough treasure!!!

Just sharing the solid .999 "pirate" coins I make. It's been a while since I shared any, and these latest ones look extra real, so I thought it was about time I shared some more pics of glorious silver (and gold).

I make them with a forge, hammer and anvil, no casting; the same way as the originals in the 1600-1700s.

It sure is a fun form to have a lot of my silver in! Hope you enjoy my art.

Ahoy friends. I just wanted to share my latest design. Clearly modeled after the classic cobs from the 1715 fleet wreck, just with a slight sneaky makers mark thrown in there, to make it my own design.

I strike them just like the originals, so they are all different. In solid silver and gold!

I am pretty proud of how they turn out.

I figured this group would appreciate them!

Well, Spanish treasure to be exact. But most of us know them as pirate coins, "pieces of 8" and "gold doubloons"! Some of the latest solid silver and gold Spanish treasure to come out of the forge. Struck with dies, not poured in molds; just the way it was done 400 years ago. I sure enjoy making these!

One of my favorites. A beautiful triple dated cob from Potosi in 1678 with an amazing original crack.

We had a great couple days at Windjammer Days in Boothbay Harbor Maine, striking solid silver pirate coins live, letting people handle my hoard of genuine antique pirate coins, and teaching about cobs and the process to quite the crowds. Not to mention hanging with my friend Eric Redbeard of the "Pirates of the Dark Rose", and checking out and sailing on all the tall ships. Always such a good time at windjammer days!

Did some silversmithing, forging silver coins, live at Windjammer Days in Boothbay Harbor Maine last week. Not your traditional "silversmithing" , but smithing silver none the less!

Always such a fun event.

I am raffling this awesome very solid Cutlass, this genuine bezeled Spanish "pirate" cob, and some other pirate silver off at Windjammer days in Boothbay Harbor Maine next week.

I'll be forging silver, letting people handle my genuine pirate coin hoard, and teaching about the Spanish treasure and the method they were made.
