TIL: the prominent Basque-descended families in the Philippines are all related

Very interesting to learn how they're all related to each other, Game of Thrones-style.

The Zobel de Ayala's own one of the biggest corporations in the country, the Aboitizes are the "Ayalas of the South" it seems? Araneta's are influential in politics and of course own Araneta Center, Elizalde's are in business? The Roxas family, aren't they related to the Ortigas family too?

EDIT: Typo

Google Maps displays BGC as under Makati jurisdiction

Was checking places in BGC near my new office, and bigla BGC is shown as being part of Makati. Surely this is an error by Google? Even Bonifacio High Street's location displays Makati City, Metro Manila.

For those of you who have dated foreign women in the Philippines, how was your experience like?

So I'm currently talking to this girl from Germany working full-time in Manila for an NGO. We're both 25, and she's been here for half a year. We've been hanging out, chill drinks and dinner. She seems great, and I can see us being in a relationship. If things work out, she'll be my first non-Filipina girlfriend.

Sometimes lang, nagugulat ako kasi very direct siya magsalita. Like when I ask her if she wants to eat at this restaurant, she'll say "No. It's not good there, this x place is better". Hindi siya naman galit, just very straightforward compared to the previous women I have talked to. Different communication style lang that I'm trying to get used to. Also, I can't help but notice stares from people when we're out? Di naman like in a weird way, but I notice things quickly, and people tend to look at us when're out in like BGC or the Makati area.

I'm not into hooking up and sleeping around. Hindi naman ako torpe nung college, but studying was my priority. I can't count the number of times now I've felt so insecure about myself when I'm with my guy friends, and yung usapan becomes about sex and intimacy. I've lied a few times about "my first time", even though I haven't lost my virginity. I was with my barkada on a beach trip, of course inuman, then after a while I realized I'm the only single, virgin in the group. We played truth or dare, and syempre some truth questions were explicit, about sex/intimacy. The entire time I felt so bad because I was lying and giving fake scenarios that I've experienced. Tumahimik nalang ako buong gabi.

I've never had the chance to explore in college because of COVID, and now as a working adult my entire time is devoted to working. Wala na akong energy to go out and meet someone who can be my girlfriend, someone I love, and share that first time with her. Sex is the most intimate act a human can share with another human being. I'm positive I'll find her out there, but nights like these I can't help but feel like I'll be a virgin for a long time.

This is a follow up to my previous post.

I quit a few days ago, so kinausap ko yung boss ko. Sabi niya that this is one of the worst times to resign, dahil maraming "moving parts" and may umalis din isang officemate ko. So my resignation "puts a lot of pressure on everyone". Pero for the most part, understanding naman siya. But I didn't hear anything along the lines of "is there anything we can do to make you stay?" or basically any effort to make me stay. I felt na hindi appreciated yung effort and work I put into my job. Parang, "ok sige gets ko naman, good bye". Tapos pinapahanap pa ako ng kapalit ko, so dagdag trabaho pa.

Sad to leave on this note.
