It’s here (in China)! My retail copy of the SG-image M43 AF 25mm F1.8 has arrived.
It’s mostly the same as the APSC model, but slightly shorter. Same diameter. Lens hood and cap are interchangeable. USB cutout is slightly different. Build quality is excellent, just like the APSC version.
Yes, there is a rubber gasket for some level of weather resistance. However, it is not marketed as a WR/WS lens.
Why is the rear lens cap so large? LUMIX and Yi rear caps are the same slim style. SG’s is thick. Their APSC E rear lens cap is similar to Sony’s.
In the photos: M43 on left, APSC on right
Size comparison to Panny 14-42 ii and 12-60
Mounted to Yi M1 and G100D
Weight:
184.1g: w/ lens hood, f&r caps
172.4g: w/ lens hood, front cap, w/o rear cap
128.2g: bare
25.8g: lens cap
18.3g: lens hood
11.7g: rear cap
I didn’t weigh the plastic lens cap. This is also included and can be used when the metal lens hood is not attached.
Box says APSC, but it’s the correct lens. I assume they’re using up existing packaging stock and will standardize later by removing APSC designation.
My APSC lens is an early model. New models match the M43 model appearance. I’m partial to the yellow SG logo on the lens, but others may appreciate the more understated branding on new production units.
Such I shame I missed this shot. Though our feathered friend was right on target 🎯🐟

Here’s some from a morning walk at the end of May. Taken in Foshan, China.
It was my first day out with this lens. All handheld. Coming from the Sony 70-350 G, the additional 1.1kg was very noticeable. Looking forward to continued practice with this kit.

First time out with the 150-500. I appreciate my 70-350 G so much more now. The extra 1.1kg essentially doubled the weight of my kit. Looking forward to continued practice with this very capable lens.
