Murfreesboro has no soul

I just overheard someone say he hates Murfreesboro because it is a town without a soul. I am finding difficulty disagreeing with him.

Even with an enormous university most of the kids leave for the weekend because there's nothing for them here. It seems like most businesses in Murfreesboro are chains. There's so little culture: No music, no art, no night life. Theres nothing for adults to do after 930. We are a sleepy suburb of Nashville, not a college town.

For those that disagree, what does Murfreesboro have that we can all our own? And what can we do to improve that culture? If you agree, what actions can we take to organically create a soul for Murfreesboro?

When did you "lose a step"?

Mowing the lawn today I felt overwhelmed, as if I'm just doing too much. Compared to five years ago I think I'm actually doing less and still have less energy. My wife gently reminded me five years ago I was five years younger. I feel like it really kicked into gear when I got Covid in 22. I'm not an old man, but I very much feel older every day.

Missed Connection : UCF dad at Three Coats

You were eating with who I presume were your wife and two daughters. I was seated beside you getting a full display of your family having a unique dining experience. (We overheard you talking about reddit so I hope you see this!) I wanted to give you a fist bump on your way out but our waitress came to our table just as you were leaving. You guys look like you're having the trip of a lifetime and winning at life. Hope you continue to enjoy this experience, it's been a blast so far.

I'm a metalhead visiting Reykjavik soon, would like to purchase some vinyl that would otherwise not be easy to find in USA. Is there one record store that specializes more in heavy metal? I am specifically into Doom, Stoner, Thrash, and Traditional metal, but I am open to other subgenres if it is truly outstanding and local.

I may be interested in attending a live event while I'm there if there are any shows while I'm visiting.

Any recommendations? Will be there in late May.
