Unable to launch steam in Fedora

Hiya peeps, new Fedora user here. I was able to download steam and get it onto my taskbar but when I try launching it I see it try to start and then terminate.

I’ve search online for solutions but they all seem to be relating to steam games not launching rather than steam itself not launching, that or they’re terribly out of date.

Please advise🙏

Best Linux version for non computer savvy beginner?

I mostly use my PC for gaming and writing, and full disclosure I am not very computer savvy like… at all.

Even so, I’m willing to put in the work, I’m just wanting to know what Linux versions y’all would recommend for beginners in my shoes. Also, tutorials for those versions would be awesome.

Death to proprietary spyware.

How do I 19M reciprocate my gf’s 20F gift giving?

Some background. Basically I come from working class, not poor but perhaps a bit shy of comfortable origins. Regular gift giving is not something I’ve been exposed to super often because at some times money was tight and at other times I was never much of a materially wanting person (perhaps because money being tight made material wants seem kind’ve frivolous). There were birthdays and Christmas, with generic gifts like a gift card or something but that was about it.

My gf comes from what in comparison to me is a very rich background. She self identifies her family as comfortable, but trust me when I say affluent is not an inaccurate descriptor. Due to this she’s a lot more accustomed to gift giving just because, both receiving and giving, and she’s got a real knack for coming up with thoughtful and unique gifts for random occasions or no occasion at all.

Now herein lies where I ask for advice: I have no idea how to reciprocate. She doesn’t really ask me for stuff, but I feel bad receiving so much but never giving. It seems like she rarely wants for stuff that I could gift either because whatever she wants for she either buys spur of the moment or her family gifts her within less than a week. Like, if I knew something she wanted I would have no difficulty buying it as I’ve gotten myself into a rather well paying job and my ascetic lifestyle leaves me with quite a bit of expendable income, but finding something to spend said money on and gift is next to impossible.

Advise please. It’s not causing problems but I feel like all things in a relationship should be 50/50 and I don’t want to always be getting but never giving. This might be the most non-issue thing ever, but even so.

Ned must look like the greatest chad who ever lived to the outside observer

Bro’s track record:

  1. Killed Arthur Dayne, the greatest knight who ever lived without suffering serious injury.
  2. Knocked up that same Sword of the Morning’s 10/10 sister on a trip to return the family’s ancestral sword because muh honor
  3. Went 6/6 on producing and raising respectable, well liked progeny
  4. Competently governed the North such that he was pretty much universally beloved by his people
  5. Conducted himself pretty well in Robert’s Rebellion and the Greyjoy Rebellion
  6. Once the series ends with Danny or Jon or Aegon triumphant Joffrey will be remembered as a bastard and Ned will be remembered as the man that exposed it and died for his honor.

You would be hard pressed to find a more legendary figure once a couple centuries have ironed out any kinks and made him from man into myth

This subreddit should ban use of AI in generating images as well as context comments.

Essentially the title. The AI posts are low quality and most of the sub seems to despise them. Who all supports banning them?

You don’t get the nickname “Madame Deficit” for nothing

Context: While most scholars are not guilty of the aforementioned revisionism, a certain vocal minority of netizens have in recent years taken up the banner of defending Madam Deficit’s good name. Such people often focus on the rampant misogyny she was the victim of while completely ignoring her many crimes such as but not limited to: actively conspiring to bring a foreign invading army into France, sending French battle plans to enemy nations, and general counterrevolutionary action. While informed opinion is divided on if she was punished too harshly or if she got what she had coming, it can certainly not be said that she did nothing to bring on her destruction.

Why didn’t James II stay and fight?

I know that “why didn’t X do Y” questions are problematic for various reasons, but this one feels like something that has to asked in that way.

As I understand it, the problem with a female monarch marrying a man would have been the subjugation of the monarch to her husband’s control, and the problem Mary had with Elizabeth was that she was Protestant leaning, so why not use one problem to fix another and force Elizabeth on pain of death to marry a Catholic?

I have been given to understand that the line between Catholic and Protestant was very blurry at the time, but even so there was a difference, so yeah.
