How's the math rigor at IISER Berhampur now?

I remember reading posts back in 2025 about the discontent of students with regards to the math department at IISER berhampur. Has the situation changed? The faculty seem relatively active looking at the website however looking at the curriculum MTH101 has less rigor than the other IISER's courses.

I'm unsure if this is because of the expectation that people getting into Berhampur wouldn't have taken math in their 11th and 12th but looking at the inflation I don't think that assumption works anymore since the caliber of students getting into Berhampur this year would probably be equivalent to those getting into Mohali-Bhopal last year (assuming IAT was a perfectly accurate measurement of intellect and ability).

Looking at IISER tvm in comparison, MTH101 involves groups and symmetry while I've read single variable calc involves rigorous epsilon-delta proofs, such specifics aren't mentioned in the syallabus so I was wondering what the situation of the math department and the math ug courses at berhampur is now. According to the syllabus even probability is encountered in only the 3rd year while it's encountered earlier in some of the other IISERS.

Does anyone know what's going on with the IACS website?

After the announcement of R2 merit list the entire admissions page is gone.. none of the old updates are present. Am I missing something because there's no way they finished counselling in 2 rounds.

Can someone tell what's wrong with my screen?

So yesterday I needed to sanitize my PC but since I didn't have any isopropyl alcohol on me i decided to use this concentrated sanitizer which was a mix of alcohol, glycerol and a tiny bit of hydrogen peroxide. Although i wiped down the sides of the display where the cleaner could enter the laptop I forgot to wipe down the front and then next day it was still damp and there are these marks on the display, they're shaped exactly like keyboard and trackpad imprints and they're visible even when the screen is off but they're very visible when the screen is on since they're these dark key shaped discolorations.

I would've attached a picture if it was allowed in the subreddit, but can someone tell me what's going on I'm getting a bit nervous.

I've tried leaving the laptop open overnight, wiping with a dry microfiber cloth and wiping with the cleaning mixture i used again but drying the entire thing instantly, nothing is seeming to work.. I don't think water has gotten inside the LCD since that would cause much worse issues but I really can't tell what's going on and although all the hardware is working it's impossible to work with these dark spots all over the screen.

Are irons & kettles really strictly prohibited?

All the websites say any heat generating devices like irons and kettles are fire hazards are strictly prohibited since they're a fire risk.. how do people still iron their shit..

About kettles, do they really get confiscated if you're caught?

How many of you have made your preferences different to the cutoff order and why?

Ive seen a few people on this subreddit make preferences which don't reflect the cutoff order that usually happens. I myself made an order different to cutoffs: Pune > Mohali > Kolkata > Tvm > Bhopal > Bpr > Tpt

I put tvm over bhopal because of slightly more diverse research areas, the presence of a bs project and a more climate leaning EES department compared to Bhopal with a more geology leaning EES department.

Bhopal had better immunology and genetics department including a brilliant BSL-3 facility, but the research areas mentioned on the page had mostly only these 2 areas, no ecology or neuroscience as far as i could see. Although tvm might have a weaker department they had a wider variety of research areas including ecology which was my favorite topic in the entirety of PCMB prep.

I'm wondering if other people have done the same and why. I've also been nervous that I've gone against the grain of choosing unis since my rank is enough to get me bhopal but I've effectively locked it out because I just didn't find it as personally appealing.. have i fucked up or is this common to do?

Are there any logistical issues at IISERS you didn't anticipate?

Are there any significant water shortages/electricity outages/food problems/hostel problems/laundry problems or any other logistical issues that impact your quality of life?

Any insight by any students would be really appreciated!

(IISER Mohali) Are the 6XX courses listed on the website actually available to BS/MS students?

On the course-list website there are certain 6th year (im assuming PhD) courses that are listed, are those accessible to the BS/MS students or are they restricted to only the PhD students, because it's on the BS/MS page so I'm quite confused.

If any students/alumni of IISER mohali could help out with this I'd really appreciate it.

6XX courses listed alongside 3rd year courses in the electives section. Are these accessible at the BS/MS level or am I missing something?
