I think Ward of Dawn should be an aspect. Hear me out….

Reasoning:

The game simply isn’t slow enough or as punishing like it used to be in Destiny 1 for me to run bubble over a much more beneficial damage super. And any utility purposes the bubble used to give like weapons or blessing is over shadowed by other abilities, like well of radiance. So, I think it would be best to modernize it into aspect and provide an actual different gameplay idea. The way I see it, if we can have aspects like banner of war and storms keep that encourage people to rally to a position for offensive benefits, we could definitely have bubble be an aspect, no question.

Here’s what I would do:

Rework Breakdown:

- Rework Offensive Bulwark to be the aspect that utilizes bubble. The name will fit better when you read what my idea is, and it already has a bubble for the picture.

(Side note: I recommend alongside this rework, to not entirely scrap current Offensive Bulwark. Instead, implement the whole current aspect into Unbreakable, where it’ll synergize a lot better and offer a fun “sword and shield” type of playstyle.)

- Offensive Bulwark will now be changed to provide an extra class ability on top of your current class ability, similar mechanics to how Gunpowder Gamble and Ionic Sentry work. Bubble can be charged with void weapon and void ability kills, six charges will be required.

- Once charged, you’ll be able to cast a bubble on the field and provide the following benefits. This will provide temporary physical cover for you and allies, a strong protective overshield while inside the bubble, and provide special and heavy ammo to guardians on the first entry of the bubble. Ammo provided will be the same amount as a ammo finder mod and can only be utilized once for each guardian.

- This version of bubble will be A LOT weaker however and won’t be able to sustain more than about 4 seconds of heavy continuous fire from groups of enemies. If not broken, bubble will stay active for 15 seconds before disappearing. Bubble will have a 7 second activation cooldown from when it’s either broken of disappears. Only provides two fragment slots.

- This version will NOT provide “void overshield” to allies OUTSIDE of the bubble, only a strong overshield while inside, similar to old perk armor of light. This is important to ensure balance among the void aspects, with each of them offering something unquie. New bubble is suppose to be about providing ammo and cover to teamates to support aggressive plays and taking space, not sustaining areas like how Bastion would be played.

Exotic Synergies and Reworks:

- Reintroduce the classic Destiny 1 exotic, Ruin Wings. It’s new perk will be reworked to synergize with the new Offensive Bulwark. Ruin Wings will now allow placed bubbles to provide increased heavy weapon reload speed and more ammo to teamates the longer they stay in the bubble. Bubble health will be increased and the activation cooldown will be removed.

- Rework Helm of Saint 14. New perk greatly increases be size of the bubble. Enemies caught inside the bubble will suppressed, weakened and blinded. Suppressed and weakened enemies take greatly increased melee and shotgun damage.

- Buff the exotic glaive, Edge of Action to synergize with Offensive Bulwark. While running both at the same time, Edge of Action bubbles will provide special ammo for you and teammates that pass through.

- Buff Mask of the Quiet One to synergize with Offensive Bulwark. Bubbles created with this helmet on will now provide devour for you and teamates alongside what it currently does.

- Buff the exotic light machine gun Deterministic Chaos to synergize with Offensive Bulwark. Deterministic Chaos rounds can now shoot through a bubble. Killing enemies while inside the bubble increases the bubbles timer.

I think it’s time to rename the hero roles. Here’s what I would do….

First, I would change it from 4 roles (Vanguard, Assassin, Heavy and Hybrid) into just 3 roles. Those roles being:

Duelist

- Specializes in punshing isolated targets. Heavy emphasis on advanced mixups and counterplay.

Bruiser

- Specializes in brawling with your team. Adept at creating openings and applying increased pressure with high damage attacks.

Guardian

- Specializes in sustaining against multiple opponents. Utilizes moves that zone enemies and defensive strategies to prolong fights.

Now here’s where I think each hero would roughly fall under based on their movesets and feats in a team fight setting. Feel free to share your thoughts because I know we’ll all have different opinions.

Knights:

1. Warden - Duelist
2. Conqueror - Bruiser
3. Peacekeeper - Duelist
4. Lawbringer - Guardian
5. Centurion - Bruiser
6. Gladiator - Duelist
7. Black Prior - Guardian
8. Warmonger - Bruiser
9. Gryphon - Guardian

Vikings:

1. Raider - Bruiser
2. Warlord - Guardian
3. Berserker - Duelist
4. Valkyrie - Duelist
5. Highlander - Bruiser
6. Shaman - Duelist
7. Jormungandr - Bruiser
8. Varangian Guard - Guardian

Samurai:

1. Kensei - Guardian
2. Orochi - Duelist
3. Shugoki - Guardian
4. Nobushi - Bruiser
5. Shinobi - Duelist
6. Aramusha - Duelist
7. Hitokiri - Bruiser
8. Kyoshin - Guardian
9. Sohei - Bruiser

Wu Lin:

1. Tiandi - Guardian
2. Shaolin - Duelist
3. Nuxia - Duelist
4. Jiang Jun - Guardian
5. Zhanhu - Bruiser
6. Juren - Bruiser

Outlanders:

Pirate: Duelist
Medjay: Bruiser
Afeera: Duelist
Ocelotl: Bruiser
Khatun: Duelist
Virtuosa: Bruiser

I think this would help newer and returning player when getting into the game. It also just feels long overdue, like what does a Vanguard even mean anymore besides “the leader. “😂

Before I say my idea, keep in mind it’s just an idea and not what I think NEEDS to happen to the game, alright?

So, say your allowed 10 points in your loadouts and all the gadgets have a specific amount of points that go toward that counter. So once you hit 10 points you won’t be able to equip anymore gagdets. The amount of points a gadget is worth will depend on how impactful it is compared to others.

Here’s a rough example of how I would distribute points to all of medium’s gadgets.

Defibrillator: 4

Jump Pad: 4

Zipline: 3

APS Turret: 3

Goo Grenade: 3

Glitch Mine: 3

Data Reshaper: 3

Gas Mine: 3

Explosive Mine: 2

Grenade: 2

Flashbang: 2

Proximity Sensor: 2

Gas Grenade: 2

Breach Drill: 1

Hover Pad: 1

Pyro Grenade: 1

Smoke Grenade: 1

With a system like this, this could allow for a shakeup in how we customize loadouts, as well as maintain balance amoung the more powerful gadgets. This won’t change the game in a major way and people will find the meta, obviously. However, I do think it will enabale more strategic decision making and split some of the gadgets up for a more balanced experience, especially for new players.

Lastly I want to bring up more possible ideas that could shake things up if this update were to ever happen.

First, would be to simply add one more gadget slot. With an update like this people are going to run into one of two situations. One, they can’t run a specific loadout they want due to point balancing and two, people are going to have extra points left over that will go unused. An extra gadget slot will help with these problems and open up new combinations we haven’t seen before.

Another possible change to go with this update would be introduce something I call specialization benefits. This change will allow specific gadgets to be discounted by 1 point depending on the specialization your running. For example, if you run heal beam, gadgets that fit in line with a supportive playstyle like defibrillators or zip line would be discounted by 1 point. This is to give players more options when choosing gagdets and encourage players to reinforce on a playstyle.

One last suggestion would be to open up loadouts in between rounds in ranked, not just whatever’s in your reserves. With all the loadouts people would try and experiment with in an update like this, you would need to let people be able to change there entire kit if they wanted too. I get the idea of locking it the loadouts during the match, but in between rounds is a chance for people to learn, counter play and plan, so let them.

- This will allow mediums to position themselves precisely and have more options for survival.

- This could allow new support strategies for teamates and fly them around like a toy drone.

- This could be a great way to introduce an option for mediums to move cashout stations in a fun and new way.

I like the hover pad but it’s just not useful, especially since most fights take place inside. It’s very situational, and when you do get fights where your outside it usually gets shot down very easily. I think letting the hover pad hover around places is a great idea.
