Is anyone gigging with their TR-1000?

These things are huge and I'm wondering if you bring it to clubs or gigs, or if you use your 1000 strictly as a studio piece.

It seems like a lot of us might (or have) replaced say 2 pieces of kit with a TR-1000, so in practice, it being gigantic isn't quite as big of a deal.

Are you lugging this around or not?

Send / Return mixer to FX pedals - what are your favourites?

I have a XONE:96 mixer and play techno and alike. I use Traktor and sometimes run instruments and mics and synths through my mixer as well.

I'm looking at getting an external reverb unit and am leaning towards a used Strymon Bluesky v1.

Most information about pedals doesn't necessarily apply to those of us who DJ with pedals or use synths because:
- Our mixers and synths send a line-level signal to the pedal, and therefore the pedal must be able to handle a hot signal without clipping harshly (or I suppose use a re-amp box prior to the pedal or something, or we lower the gain or whatever on the mixer)
- Stereo is great for a lot of FX and guitars are mono

- Midi clock capacity is great for a lot of FX

What (somewhat affordable preferably) pedals are you using with your DJ hardware or synths or drum machines or whatever use line level? I'm primarily interested in a reverb and a delay unit that don't require menu diving and are playable

Gear recommendation: Ableton in the box isn't quite as fun as hardware

Hi friends,

I'm making acid techno, minimal, rumbles, some dub techno, and exploring outside of these genres sometimes. I work in Ableton as a beginner, and am currently getting rid of my Elektron Model:Cycles which is a DAWless groovebox. The Cycles can't multitrack record, and is missing a decent amount of functionalities in my opinion that I'm looking to replace this unit with something else.

There are so many options and directions one can take when it comes to techno music, so I'm asking for help, as I'm seeing how quickly one can want more and more hardware.

I really enjoy using the Elektron. I have way more fun jamming on that thing than I do clicking a mouse and looking at a screen. I do enjoy using Ableton too, but just not to the same level.

I'm considering upgrading to a Digitakt 1 or a Syntakt or a similar lower expense Elektron box to replace the Model:Cycles, which seem to have the same "fun" but also with more functionality and the ability to work them into a slightly more complex routing.

My hardware, for DJing but I'll list what I have is the following:

Allen and Heath XONE:96 mixer
2x Allen and Heath K3 custom mapped and playing with Traktor
Traktor running on a Macbook
Also I have a Focusrite 2i2 that I use in place of my mixer alongside a single K3 and laptop for more portable DJ sets

An option that might be fun is to get an Abelton Push 2. They're relatively affordable and give a bit of the tactile enjoyment I'm getting from my Elektron. I would still end up doing a lot of screentime with one of these, but on the other hand it would be built for Ableton. I don't see a ton of techno producers using Push units so I'm skeptical if this is the correct choice. I like the idea of launching loops (say a clap pattern) following my Traktor clock from Ableton while playing live. I recognize lots of units have midi clock follow capability and I'd love for whatever I choose to have this function.

I'm a bit worried about getting a drum sequencer primary unit, then wanting a polyphonic synth, then wanting a 303 (I want a 303 clone), then wanting....

I'd love some recommendations. I'd like a piece of hardware or two (or 3) for say $1500 or preferably much less. I'd love to be able to jam on this hardware to make production more instrument-like. I'd like to be able to integrate this into my DJ sets sometimes too, if that's reasonable.

Thanks

Mapping a XONE:K3 (or K2) for one setup, and a second mapping for the same controller for a different setup

I have a pair of K3 and a XONE:96 mixer running with Traktor. I love this setup. I have 2 of my decks routed to the first K3, and the second 2 decks routed to the second K3. These are x:linked to my 96, and the 96 usbs to my laptop.

I want to make a second, far more portable DJ setup using a single K3, an audio interface (currently have a 2i2), and my laptop. Something I can throw in a bag rather than bringing my giant mixer and dual K3s to a friend's house or a jam somewhere. The 96 stays at home, or is brought out to gigs worth the hassle or that I want the sound quality and playing experience of my full set.

I'm trying to map my K3 to have a second midi mapping in Traktor's controller editor. I'm running into a bunch of issues that I'm slowly working through.

Before I put more hours into this battle, I wanted to ask if anyone has successfully done something similar. Has anyone made 2 mappings for a k2 or a k3: 1 for a big setup for example with a mixer or modular bits, and 1 more portable mapping that builds mixer functionality into the k2 or 3 itself?

I'm thinking I might have to use the xone controller editor to change the midi channel setting of K3, one channel for my full setup, then a separate channel I change to every time I want to bring my mini setup out and about.

I have things like play / pause, sync, keylock mapped to the bottom buttons and these have stopped working once I made a new mapping. I'll troubleshoot more but I'd love to hear of any success stories so I feel like I'm at least doing something that can theoretically work

Hi friends, I'm jamming with a guitar player using a chain of Boss pedals, and I want to send my midi clock timing to his loop pedal from my Model:Cycles. His Boss Loop Station RC-5 has a midi in.

Has any one had success with this? Does the Loop Station almost act like it's quantized or like the sync button is clicked in a DJ program? I'm assuming his timing has to be good still, and the pedal following the midi from my Elektron unit will just make the loop snap to the "grid" basically.
