It’s been a long journey with Garmin—from the Vivoactive to the Fenix ​​3, then the 5, the Forerunner, then the Fenix ​​7, and currently the 8.

I have to say, I was happy with the Fenix ​​5 and earlier models; I paid a high price, but I got a premium watch with accurate stats and measurements.

Then came the Fenix ​​7, and the problems started: incorrect readings, lost distance, missed steps. Things got really bad when I finished a route I knew was 5km and the watch recorded only 4.5km.

That’s when I dealt with customer support—a customer's worst nightmare. Their response was literally: "Join the beta tester program and enable logs to detect the issue." It took weeks for them to follow up; I was so frustrated that I bought a Suunto Vertical to compare, and sure enough, the Garmin was losing distance.

I started posting on the Garmin forum comparing the Fenix ​​7X and the Suunto Vertical. My report gained traction—I posted my walks daily—and after five days, they identified the problem (which was clearly software-related).

You’d expect a critical fix to arrive within days, right? Far from it; 15 days went by, and I was told I had to post my findings on the beta forum in a standard report format—as if I were a Garmin employee? Sorry, but I don't recall paying for that.

Finally, after a month, the update arrived (via the beta program), but it brought new bugs that seemed linked to the launch of the Fenix ​​8 (specifically, battery drain). I never found out how it ended because...

• Obviously, Garmin didn't like the Garmin-vs-Suunto comparison history, so they deleted my account.
• I switched to a Fenix ​​8.

Yes, it was a repeat of the same old story—doubled down on by even more OS bugs and multiple issues (battery drain, inaccurate distances again, interface lag, terrible Bluetooth connectivity, etc.).

Some of those issues have been resolved by now, while others persist, but honestly, I don't even bother dealing with support anymore. I see the same old stuff on their forums: the same issues, the same bugs (even on the 9). I learned the hard way to disable automatic updates and only update when it stops syncing—all while praying the new update doesn't fail.

I hate my watch; I hate Garmin. I’ve tried switching to other brands (Suunto, Amazfit, Apple Watch), but none of them won me over. A Coros Apex 4 is arriving this week; honestly, I hope to leave and never look back.

Tengo una PS2 Fat (modelo SCPH-50011) con un adaptador SD2PSX y una tarjeta microSD de 128GB; funciona bastante bien.

Hace poco, estuve pensando en comprar un adaptador Gamestar SATA HDD—de esos genéricos que venden en AliExpress ( https://es.aliexpress.com/item/1005005428958578.html )—para ampliar el espacio de almacenamiento y conseguir mejores velocidades.

Pero resultó estar muy lejos de ser el caso. El adaptador es tan poco confiable que nunca sé cuándo va a funcionar de verdad.

Primero probé un SSD formateado a FAT32 (y luego exFAT); el comportamiento era errático: a veces lo detectaba, a veces no (los SSD no siempre se llevan bien con este tipo de cosas).

Luego probé un HDD de 1TB de 3.5" con el mismo resultado. Cambié de estrategia: lo formateé al formato nativo usando HDL Batch y cargué FMCB directamente en el disco (para forzar que el sistema lo use desde el arranque). Ayer funcionó perfecto toda la noche.

Pero esta mañana, no hay forma de que lo vuelva a detectar. Probé de todo y nada:

Saco y vuelvo a meter el adaptador del HDD—no pasa nada.

Desconecto todo y lo vuelvo a conectar—no pasa nada.

Uso el SD2PSX, voy a LaunchELF -> Browser -> MISC -> hddManager; puedo escuchar clarísimo cómo el disco empieza a girar, pero no detecta nada.

En este punto, no sé qué está fallando: el adaptador del HDD o el puerto de expansión de la PS2. El HDD funciona sin problemas cuando lo conecto a una PC.

¿Alguna idea?

He estado buscando un control alternativo decente para la Dreamcast, pero hasta ahora no he tenido nada de suerte.

Mi primera opción fue el StrikerDC Dreamcast Wireless Controller; la verdad es que me encantaba ese control—se veía súper bonito, de esos que nomás con verlo se te prendían los ojos. ¿El problema? Llegó con un dongle defectuoso, y parece que eso es un problema común con ese modelo. No quería meterme en el rollo de soporte al cliente, así que lo devolví en Amazon :( (me rompió el corazón).

Luego compré el adaptador Sega Dreamcast BlueRetro. Se ve bastante bien, pero también trae sus problemas—se desconecta. No pasa tan seguido como con el StrikerDC, pero sí pasa (después de 1, 5 o 10 minutos), y eso es bien molesto cuando estás jugando.

Probé unas cuantas cosas para arreglarlo:

Lo probé con un control de Xbox Series X|S (firmware 5.23.6.0).

Luego con un control de PS4—mismo resultado.

Actualicé el firmware del BlueRetro desde el sitio oficial (Blueretro-DC-4LEDS-25.04-Rumble), pero no hizo ninguna diferencia.

Y ahora pues aquí estoy, decepcionado de no haber encontrado una solución. Vi el Retro Fighters StrikerDC—que parece ser un modelo con cable—pero ya no está en venta :(

I have a Dreamcast with this setup, but there are a few things about it I don't like:

• Dual BIOS without a toggle switch
• An IDE adapter with a 44-pin converter (which is soldered on)
• An 80GB HDD that feels slow

I tried installing a GDEMU, but I failed; it won't boot at all—I assume it conflicts with DreamShell.

Is there any way to get the GDEMU working?

For several weeks, my TS-473A had been running at high temperatures, between 60°C and 69°C. Even though the v1500b can handle up to 100°C, it was still worrying.

Early this morning, before the peak traffic, I unplugged it, cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol (it didn't look dry at all, so I suspect it was poor quality), applied a dab of MX-7 thermal paste, and the CPU temperature dropped to 35°C. The HDDs also decreased from 40°C to 35°C (they're not generating as much heat anymore).

Overall, it's a good, easy, and quick improvement.

I've been trying to download Jellyfin since yesterday, but I haven't had any luck. It's mainly the ffmpeg7 dependency; when it tries to download it, it fails and tells me to try again.

I have a small script that handles the tedious task of adding new files to my playlists (m3u8).

It essentially analyzes the file (preferably flac), creates the folder structure based on my criteria (Artist -> Year Album -> Track Title.flac). It makes a copy of the flac and converts it to m4a (ffmpeg). It backs up my existing playlists. It adds the new items to the playlists in artist order, and they are ready to play with the new tracks.

However, I'm wondering if there's a way for Musicbee to read these files and automatically update the existing playlists?

Recently, someone here on Reddit shared a deal on an RM43-320-RS, which was being sold on Alibaba for the ridiculously low price of $500. Despite all predictions and complaints that it would end up costing much more, I decided to buy it. In the end, I paid a total of $560, including import costs (a steal compared to Amazon, where it's over $1100).

I installed it on my main NAS server, and I loved it so much I was blown away. Excited, I went and tried to buy another one, but surprise, surprise, it's sold out! 😞

Soy un vendedor de mercado libre desde hace 15 años, no soy vendedor platinum plus y demás chorradas, pero si realizo mis 10 a 15 ventas al año, sin embargo de un tiempo para acá es un nido de estafas y ratas.

He intentado poner controles que aseguren la venta, pero nada funciona, deje de vender celulares porque cada rato se pierden, los roban en paquetería cambiándola por una bolsa de frijoles o en el peor de los casos el comprador le ofrece un dinero al repartidor para marcar que lo rechazo (como es de suponer se pierde).

He tomado medidas agresivas con esto, avisar textualmente que el celular viene con contraseña y bloqueado, entablar platicas con el comprador (no mandar producto si no contesta). Nada parece funcionar. El problema? mercadolibre no se pone de tu lado.

Varias veces he avisado en atención a cliente que ese comprador se ve sospechoso y la respuesta directa es: NO IMPORTA TU MÁNDALO. Peor aun llegar a ATC es un logro, pasar la IA es tan molesto, sin olvidar lo cuadrada que es.

Estos 2 años he perdido 3 productos, con valor por arriba de los 15mil pesos mexicanos. Todos por robo o perdida. pero el ultimo fue doloroso.

El ultimo producto robado/perdido fue doloroso, resulta que el comprador rechazo la compra (en cuanto paso supe que las cosas no iban a ir bien), el comprador no dio detalle de porque rechazo la compra y cuando pasa eso mercadolibre cierra el chat con el cliente.

El método de retorna como según ellos lo explican es una venta inversa, que tardara 15 días. nada mas falso de la realidad, tardaron 45 días, cada 15 días me traían a largas que no podan hacer nada, que el sistema les bloqueaba realizar acciones, no te dan detalles, ni que le paso el producto, simplemente te traen a largas. Incluso para retornar el dinero el día 46 que necesitaban autorización del supervisor, una de excusas y pretextos, como si te hubieras robado el producto, no parecen estar de tu lado si no del que se robo el producto.
