Local PD trade in

Bushmaster XM15-E2s 14.5" H BAR pin and welded to 16.5"+ with an ak74 style brake. When I was a young man my dad and I went halves on this rifle from our local gun shop. This was our first AR15 style rifle. It was a trade in from our towns police department, and it must have been an extra because it was cherry when we got it. Still looks good but we've put a few round through it in the last 14 years. I change the furniture around here and there. I helped my dad with the form 1 process and removed the pin and weld keeping the brake for the original look. Now he can put his can on it.

Southpaw 870

Got this from a friend of mine years ago as a brand new gun with a 28” barrel and laminated furniture. Searched for a year and a half for a second left handed 870 that was ribbed and the same finish. Finally found one on eBay and boy did I have to pay out the nose for it. It currently has hogue furniture and a 12.5” barrel. Reinstalled the bead and called it a day. I throw the original furniture and barrel back on it occasionally to pheasant hunt when I’m not using the benelli.

Made my own HUB mount

Wanted to make a .300” recessed HUB mount for my VOID on my LWRC upper so it had a cleaner look. Came out ok. I’ll do another one soon and change the brake/diffuser part a little bit. It will work for now! First photo is new mount, second is the original mount.

Lucked out on LWRC upper

Through a local gun shop I frequent and sometimes work at I fell into one of the best deals I’ve ever gotten. Snagged this LWRC IC A5 10.5” complete upper, just shy of being brand new. 5 bills. It is so nice and the piston system as a left handed suppressed shooter helps cut down a lot on gas in the face. Build is in progress

His and Hers

Top is my Marlin 1895 Guide Series in 45-70 that has been cut to 16” and cerakoted. Bottom is my wife’s Henry Lever X in .357. In these configurations we really only do night shoot with subs, but they both have regular scopes to revert back to hunting configuration. Love both guns and my wife REALLY loves hers. Both cans are old form 1 cans but they perform very well.

Fun little plinker

Threw this together on an SBR’d spikes tactical lower. CMMG 22lr conversion with dedicated CMMG 4.5” barrel. Form 1 suppressor I made a long time ago. Holosun magnifier and trijicon MRO (the cure for astigmatism). Magpul stock and fore grip. Pic shows stock Anderson trigger but it now has a RISE 2.5 lb flat blade drop in trigger.

My first SBS

I used a Savage Fox Model B for this project. Did the work myself. Contemplating going shorter but I’m not sure yet. I have a Stevens 311 that all the parts are interchangeable with the fox model B. The Stevens has 18” barrels and the Savage is 12”. Both barrels swap and lock up properly but I checked that before buying the 311. A joy to shoot and people absolutely light up when you pull this out at the range.

UPDATE: clearance is clearance

Update:

Got my sadlak mount on the gun today. Decided to remove the 3 rear most slots on the EBR chassis instead of cutting the mount. Was going to use the Bridgeport and make it a 5 minute job but decided to bust out the file set and do the work by hand. Couldn’t be happier and it all JUST fits. Thanks everyone from the other day for your advice and recommendations!

of a horsefly

This monstrosity flew inside our house yesterday. Best I could measure, came right about to 1.5” long not including the wings. Included for scale is a cr123 battery (1.36”)

Who’s ready to see what happens tomorrow?

I try not to hold my breath when big things MAY happen in regard to the NFA rules/law changes but I actually have my hopes up for this one. Especially after the tax stamp was reduced to $0.

Watching marketplace like a hawk pays off sometimes

My dad got a cap for his truck a while back and it solidified my decision to make the jump from folding hard cover to a cap. Was expecting to pay north of $750 for something used and in good shape. Well boy did I make out like a banding and scored this 2017 ARE cap for $100 and a 5 hour round trip. Guy even helped load it and install the clamps. One side is supposed to be a tool box, but has been removed to make room for the doggos. Vent install coming soon along with new DIY paint job if anyone has recommendations. Leaning torward some type of grey bed liner or other “rough” paint. Truck is a 2023 TRD OFF Road 6’ bed. Thanks for lookin!

EBR chassis question

I have a socom 16 in an EBR chassis and I snagged a sadlak airborne steel scope mount. For them to jive together I have to remove the first three notch’s at the rear of the chassis top cover. Experienced machinist so that a non issue, BUT, is that the route I should go or is there a better scope mounting option to go with the EBR chassis?

New (and used) can day

Picked up my Canik Void 556 and Nomad 30 today. Got the Void brand new and the Nomad was lightly used from a buddy of mine. Got a screamin deal on both. Headed to the range tomorrow to really break them in. Included are the cans and their dedicated hosts. 3 day wait and both submitted at same time.
