LED light issue (exact type unknown)

What it is: LEDs within a costume, I'm unsure of the exact type of LED strip this is. If it helps at all it was manufactured in mexico. The lights only have one color being green, I will see if I can put more pictures and videos in the comments as it's not letting me attach more here. (Edit) I was able to please check my comments below!

The problem: Whenever a certain part of the strip is bumped the whole line flickers, it appears one of the lights is damage as it doesn't light up unless moved. I'm not familiar with this type of LED strip, but the lights are on the opposite side of the copper rectangles. I was hoping it got pulled slightly loose from the control terminal/battery pack but it may also be a pinched internal wire? If it's the ladder im not sure how to go about fixing this.

What I've tried: unplugging the battery and re-plugging it back in, as well as changing the batteries to freshly charged ones

What I'm willing to do: I have no problem replacing that section of the LEDs but I've never seen this type before or done a repair

Fursuit Display/Storage

I have a proper storage bin for my suit but I would like to have a nicer way to display it, I've gotten some feedback like avoiding sunlight and padding stress points on the mannequin to prevent damage, does anyone else have input regarding displaying a suit on a mannequin? If it helps I'll link a picture of my fursuit below!

Fursuit knowledge from a fursuiter 💡✨️

Hello I'm bnuy! I'm the owner of the Wolperterror suit, I've had them for over a year now and wore them for the first time at Anthrocon last week! I've learned a lot wearing and caring for my suit so I wanted to share some of that knowledge with you all who may be wanting to get a fursuit, some things that I didn't really think of before getting mine! Below I will break things down into sections based on the specific topic I want to cover.

Character Design & Fursuit Life Span:

The Furry community is filled with creativity, we see it constantly through fursuits! Any fursuit already requires time and money, however certain design elements can actually increase how frequently you need to do repairs! To start us off something almost all fursuits use some kind of fur or fabric. But where you put certain colors can affect how often that part needs to be cleaned or replaced. Anything that touches the floor will obviously get dirty, lighter colors can easily stain especially pure white feet paws. Stains are different than just dirt as you may have to replace a whole patch of fur to fully get rid of the color, darker colors are much harder to stain but are still susceptible to off colors due to damage. If you have dark fur on your foot paws you may see the color starting to lighten in certain areas due to friction where you walk damaging the fabric. This is why outdoor paws are popular as it's a lot less work to keep your suits paws looking nice. Suits with unique features will of course have unique problems however.

For example parts that stick out (fabric or plastic) will very likely need repairs, like claws that scrape the floor, large gravity defying antenna, etc. If stuffed over time it may lose its shape and fluff, if plastic scuffs or cracks are unfortunately easy to get. There is of course occasionally more technological pieces to fursuits like lights, screens, or moving mechanics. Things like wires can get knocked loose or damaged and having technological parts affects your ability to thoroughly clean a suit if you cannot easily remove it from the rest of the suit. Anything thin or that has colors that are very dark, very light, or vibrant eventually will require some love later on. Of course be as creative as you want with your own fursuits! But like me you may want to keep in mind the future hours of repairing wires in your future and consider getting indoor foot paws or if it fits your character proper fursuit shoes.

Relevant Skills and Knowledge for Fursuit Ownership:

As a fursuit owner you are going to have to learn some basic art skills, you don't want to have to send your fursuit somewhere every time you chip some paint or pop a seam. You will also have to learn how to do some laundry for stains and proper cleaning! If your suit has any special parts like wiring or a moving jaw it will also do you some good to learn a bit about electronics or mechanical parts, something that could cost you a pretty penny to repair through someone else could just be splicing a wire or tightening a bolt. And by having this knowledge you won't have to panic if something happens at a convenient!

Understanding how to store and maintain a fursuit is extremely important, you can't throw it in a washing machine or dryer. And you certainly can't leave it to melt in a hot car! Foam can warp if left in a awkward position for too long, so don't squish your head or digitigrade leg padding into a box for days on end. There is also of course the most important thing you cannot auit without, your own body!

Understanding how your body works when suiting is very important! Going to the bathroom before having to put your suit on, staying hydrated and fed, understanding that certain medications and conditions will affect how you suit and how much you sweat, understanding some antiperspirants should be applied before bed to work properly, knowing what food and beverages are best while you are suiting, etc etc. For me suiting can flare up my chronic pain and/or strain my left leg, knowing your limit and when to take a break is extremely important.

What?? It Costs MORE Money?!?!:

Fursuiting isn't cheap, I feel like captain obvious stating this but fursuiting isn't a one and done patment even after you pay off your commissioner! Some things to keep in mind for a shopping list are:

• Travel storage bin (WHEELS for easy transport)

• Brushes for the fur

• Repair tools (needles, different thread colors, patches of fur, etc for complex suits)

• Small Green machine

• Fursuit spray

• Under Armour/any cooling clothes under suit

• Air tags to prevent being stolen

• Deodorant

The above is just the stuff I'd consider requirements, there's of course money that goes into traveling and hotels if you plan to go to conventions as well. If your furrsuit is being shipped a long distance especially into the U.S. out of the country expect extra import fees ontop of shipping costs. Fursuiting is also a time commitment, time to clean it, repair it, store it, move it, take it to cons, etc etc.

You absolutely do not need a full suit or even a head to be a furry, if you are a furry and want to make your own suit and it's a beginner suit that's perfectly fine too! If anyone is considering getting a full suit I'd just tell them to wait and make sure it's what they want, maybe even starting with a partial. I saved for years to afford my suit and had the same character in mind all that time, I'd hate for anyone to get a suit and realize they don't like suiting or the character they got. Or even worse spend money that don't have on one,, it's ok to not have a suit or go to cons or whatever! VRchat with free avatars is pretty fun or gaming with furry friends on discord.

FOMO is common in this day and age in the community, don't let it get you into something you don't truly want to do. It's ok to be excited to get a fursuit if you really want it but if you want to keep it nice for a long time keep in mind the above!

Day 1 anthrocon! 💚

Thank you all so much for a wonderful first day at AC! Feel free to say hi to me if you see me Saturday but please don't touch my suit unless I tell ya you can :)

See you at anthrocon 2026!

I'm going to anthrocon and Tekko this year in my suit for the first time! Please keep in mind that I cannot see or hear well in my Wolperterror costume, so unless you are directly infront of me and speaking clearly I may not be able to tell that you want my attention! (Also it's loud as hell sometimes so even outside of it may accidentally miss ya)

✅️ Do:

• Say hi to me!

• Ask for pictures

• Ask for a trinket! (I'm handing out cool custom cards of my character ooo ahh)

• Chat for awhile

• Ask to see how a part of my costume works

❌️ Don't:

• Touch me or my costume/clothes unless explicitly told otherwise by me (This doesn't change just because we are friends online or because I know you from discord)

• Obstruct my path to the bathroom (It is hard enough to go to the bathroom in a giant rabbit suit with a 5ft tail I don't want to run you over 😭)

• Be weird

Semibot outfit and lore dump

Hello! This is my Semibot, I've written a little lore for them if you are interested. It is based on actual things we know about REPO however this isn't official or anything-

The Human Museum of Art has many examples of the fate that awaits Semibots if captured or lost. We see many dead bots appearing to have been killed or left to die likely by human survivors of whatever apocalyptic event that has occured of this world. We know through gameplay that it is possible for a bot or several bots to die unknowingly to the others without a Map Play Count upgrade. Even if a bot is the only one left they will not be terminated by the Taxman, leaving them the two options of either dying or filling the next extraction point and hopefully saving their friends.

The LostBot was originally in a team of Semibots, tigether completing tasks, evading monsters, etc. One day they all arrived at the Human Museum for the first time, the Lostbot managed to accidentally get stuck somewhere within the building. Knowing their friends would eventually rescue them they waited but unfortunately unknown to the LostBot their fellow bots had all perished, there they waited for a unknown but long period of time before being found by a different team of bots. LostBot joined this team, but due to their less advanced and heavily damaged parts they can be a bit clunky. Accidentally breaking things or mixing the new bots up with the old ones they once knew, they remain cheerful regardless just happy to be back to doing tasks with their friends. As they are still technically an active bot they are registered within the systems of whatever the Taxman is doing allowing them to follow other bots into the truck.

First time turtle owner (eventually)

Hello lovely turtle enthusiasts, as the title of this post says I would be a first time turtle owner and I want to inform myself as much as possible and prepare before considering taking one home.

💡General information about myself:

I am 21 years of age with a full time job working nights, in the fall I also have college. I have experience owning some exotic pets, currently I own two California Kingsnakes who (according to their exotic vet) are both healthy. Most of my knowledge for exotic animals is about snakes and creepy crawlies I however admittedly don't know a whole lot about turtles or their care. I currently live in the U.S. specifically Pennsylvania, I understand that this type of pet is a long term commitment requiring financial stability as well as a large space to live in as they grow. I do live with my dad currently who loves turtles and wants to learn more about them as well and is excited about having one (or more if turtles do better with friends) and is willing to contribute to their care.

❓️Specific questions:

• What species of turtle would you reccomend for a first time owner?

• For turtle habitats is vertical or horizontal space more important?

• Do I have to worry about my snakes potentially making my turtles sick or vice versa?

• Hypothetically would a pool for children work as the aquatic part of their habitat (Assuming I could heat it and treat it properly for them) then also having a ramp or way out of said pool into a dry space for their land? Or would they do better in a deeper fish tank despite it being a smaller space overall?

• Any reccomendations for where to specifically get a turtle? I'd like to avoid like Pet Smart and I wouldn't be against getting a rescue turtle as long as I know I can properly care for any special needs they have

I will of course do my own research outside of reddit but it is nice to ask people who are passionate about turtles :) picture is not related, just cute
