Customers Making Orders On Our Closed Day

We are an egg and produce farm. We are not open on Sundays and have our business hours set to reflect that. In fact, most Sundays we are away at a farmers market.

Despite showing that we are not open today Square allowed a customer to place an order for pickup this afternoon. How do we change settings to not allow orders outside of business hours?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Robbing Ducks of their Dignity

Yesterday we took a trip to a farm store for fence materials and found some poultry hats while we were there. We tried them out on our three tamest ducks today, with mixed results. Maple and Ramona didn't mind but Fenna wasn't a fan.

They come with chinstraps but nobody would wear them that way. A little bit of weak double-sided tape was acceptable, though.

Stubborn Feathers

Maple is molting but these last two wing feathers just won't let go. The contrast makes me imagine she's ready for a knife fight. Lol

Patient Piggies

The groundskeeping team wait patiently for breakfast. They forage on about 5 acres of orchard, forest, and field for the rest of their meals. These three have done wonders for keeping the grass and brush at bay in the areas we've cleared so far.

So Stylish

Her little brown boots make Margaret the Potato the most fashionable hog on our farm.

What a Difference.

Eight weeks doesn't feel like much time at all. It always surprises me how quickly they get their juvenile plumage.

Absolutely the best groundskeeping pets ever.

Muu and Margaret the Potato here, and Muu's sister Babi (rhymes with Bobbie, not pictured), have been amazing help here on our duck egg farm. The property was neglected for nearly 20 years and was overgrown by giant Himalayan blackberries (if you're in the PNW you know). They were covering and killing mature semi-dwarf apple and pear trees, they'd grown so deep.

With one Kunekune and two Guinea Hog-Kunekune crosses, though, the areas we clear stay clear. Goats will eat blackberry leaves but hogs will do that AND root up and eat the green off of the root corms, too, so they don't grow back. Plus they're genuine sweethearts and love to rub against my leg to demand neck scritchies.

We knew we were going to like pigs before we even knew where to get them but never expected to love them as much as we do. Any time either my wife or I are working in their paddock they have to come see what we're doing and "tell us about their day." All through the growing season they get treats from our garden that wouldn't sell at our farm stand. Absolutely wonderful critters.

Another way the show permanently changed my vocabulary.

This one is kind of indirect. My partner and I have around 70 ducks, including a little blue-gray sex-pest drake named Torgo. He had 7 younger siblings by the same father, and we referred to them collectively as The Torglings. When they were having their turn as the "juvenile nuisance flock" they would damage or destroy things like garden plants by all nibbling/investigating them at once.

We started calling that nibbling, investigative duck behavior "torgling" as a result. Torgling, torgle, torgled, and torgles have now become permanent parts of our vocabulary.

How About a Haiku for the Workers?

You could just drop dead

While stuck at your fucking job

Never forget that.

How many hours of life do you have left? Thousands? One? Where will you be and what will you be doing when they run out? Will you be living for yourself at the end of it all, or will you be busy making someone else rich?

The current status quo isn't the only possible way to structure a society. A better world is possible and only the working class can build it. Organize.
