Anyone ever come across something like this?

Just did a Costco order and it went well. The mileage was actually a lot lower than Instacart quoted which was a welcome surprise. However, at the end of the last delivery, the app asked me why there was a pineapple. I thought this was really strange because there wasn’t any produce shopped at all. And I couldn’t figure out what happened so I just said I don’t know why there is a pineapple on there. I got all the items the customer ordered. I just looked at the receipt and found out the pork chops were not on the receipt. Somehow the cashier rang up a pineapple tag when scanning them, or their POS really screwed up.

What’s worse?

Is it the useless support or the broken ai vibe coded app? Had to cancel a good paying order because the app had a conniption fit over Roma tomatoes and could not get it to proceed, then had to battle with the garbage ai agent to talk to someone then they were utterly useless because they probably just have a few scripts to read and zero tools. They claim I will receive compensation, I’m 100% confident that compensation will be zero.

What the heck is A supposed to mean?

I asked him A? And he never elaborated. So he got the whole strawberries. It was a non Instacart user so they couldn’t approve or decline directly in app.🤷🏻

Welp it happened

Recently got finished with a delivery where I had a verbal altercation with a customer. They took issue with the custom greeting that I had set up several years ago that I’ve used for thousands of orders with zero incident. They apparently thought I was trying to flirt with their wife and incorrectly stated that I had a winking face (it was a smile emoji) and cussed me out.

He had to pull the Macho tough guy routine over a nonsense greeting, so I told him I would block him so he wouldn’t have to see me again. It’s sad how things are still easily misinterpreted by people nowadays. Just had to update my greeting to remove any possible ambiguity. Hopefully I am not kicked off the platform, but with how these companies overreact, I’m probably at the end of days.

Been a long time, have an itch to play Ultima VI one of my childhood games, but a question

How the HECK can I get my party to stick with me LMAO

I didn't seem to remember this being such a problem when I played it at the age of 9, but at the age of 44 they seem to absolutely love to stay behind and not follow me. is there some kind of trick? I am playing via GOG dosbox version

How Apple Maps almost royally screwed me.

I was doing a Walmart Spark delivery that had a very good payout, and I was really looking forward to it. I proceeded to the first address, routed in my Apple Maps, and it was to an address I never delivered before and had concerns about. Not gonna go into the specifics on why, but it is an address I have passed by numerous times and they are obsessed with a particular person to a very unhealthy level.

The Spark app wasn’t allowing me to confirm arrival even though I was maybe within 20 feet or so of the bubble. I had to contact Support to try to get it overridden and sent them photos and etc. I delivered and got out of there ASAP and noticed on my way out that it was actually the wrong address. I drove down the road a little bit and found the correct address, which happened to be well outside of the Spark bubble, as well as not at all where Apple Maps told me to turn.

Fortunately, nothing bad came of it, I returned to the original address and retrieved the order, it all seemed to be intact. And I delivered it to the correct address and spoke with the customer and apologize and etc. And sent the photos of that delivery to the Spark Support. She seemed nice, but I hope she doesn’t report the order missing or tip bait etc. I don’t think that’s gonna happen but you never know, fingers crossed.

I’m curious: How were Japanese school children taught about the Cuban Revolution as well as the events that followed like Bay of Pigs?

I’m curious because as an American, naturally we were taught pretty negatively about Cuba, the usual stuff about the evils of communism, the influencer of the USSR and trying to use them as a satellite state to undermine the United States, etc. but naturally there are those sympathetic to people like Che Guevara and Fidel Castro.

The reason I ask is because there is an NES/Famicom game that released here from SNK called Guerilla War, which was a typical but fun run and fun style game from that time. But I learned by accident from a multicart that the Japanese Famicom version of the game is called Guevara and the player characters are named after Guevara and Castro. Naturally the game got retranslated and all references of them were removed from the game release here and in Europe, but oddly enough the portrait of Castro remains intact in the game cutscene.

I’m trying to do some research about this subject matter for a mini YouTube video/documentary about this, and getting the perspective from Japanese people would be very helpful. I’m just curious about how your teachings from these events differed from our admittedly very one sided look at the Revolution. If this wasn’t taught in grade school but only during college/university or from books that would also be helpful. Also if you’re aware of any sort of documents or interviews or etc that may have been conducted about this game, it would be very helpful. The picture attached is how Castro is depicted on the US version.

Any retro gamers remember this one?

Good ol’ Guerilla War on the NES, one of the best coop run and guns the console had and probably the only one that goes toe to toe with the Contra games.

Fun Fact: Even though the NES version of the game we got in the US and Europe has the factions and such the usual generic stuff, the Japanese Famicom version is actually called Guevara and the game is literally about the Cuban Revolution, Player 1 plays as Che Guevara and Player 2 is Fidel Castro.

Even without the obvious real world ties to this the game is still a blast to play. I actually plan on doing more research about this as I first found this out by finding this game on an nes multicart and noticing that it clearly says their names on the pause screen. I thought it was a romhack at first but that is how it is on the actual Japanese version of the game.

Gotta love when it’s dead on a Friday

Been out for close to 2 hours, not a single batch even remotely worth taking. On a Friday of all days. Total of 2 batches I’ve even seen from the local Costco and none of the other nearby shops have had anything. It seems when they have those crappy incentives, it jives with a totally dead market.

A stereotypical Aldi order with multiple Aldi find items

The customer ordered a total of 13 items that were located in the ALDI fine section, only found three of them. Some of the items they didn’t even have a price label for much less any sign that they existed, several of the character related ones they had for other kinds, but not the one that Customer ordered. This is pretty much standard. It’s usually at least a 50% chance that when they order one of those items it’s not going to exist in the store but it was closer to 80% today lol

“Customer opted out of bags”

Never saw this before on a shop order, I went ahead and took items without bagging, I use plastic totes to carry my orders anyway, but never knew this was an option. Not a state that does paper bags or anything like that.

Apparently customers can call us 2 hours after we complete a delivery

The last customer I delivered to just called me, dunno how they were even able to do it given that the order was completed 2 hours ago and I had not previously talked to them on the phone, but they were able to call me through their app. It was about a missing item, which I didn’t know anything about because the story doesn’t allow us to load the items or etc so I just gave them what they loaded in my vehicle for them, and it was only 2 orders and they were completely in separate areas of my vehicle. What is even the point of that? If they have a problem shouldn’t it get them in touch with the store or Spark support instead?

Instacart seems to algorithmically detect when we are working other apps.

-Run instacart and competitor app at same time

Instacart: here’s nothing, or some bullshit you’ll never take

-Accept a reasonable offer on another app that pays decently.

Instacart: Here’s a bunch of actual good offers that we know you can’t take without penalizing yourself on the other app.

Every time. I legit saw the highest offer I’ve ever seen in my area, it would have been physically impossible for me to finish this order and do the deliveries and make to the store in time. I’m convinced that’s the only reason that order ever materialized. If I was still in the parking lot, it would have never existed.

My Cync light unpaired from Home so I had to reset it up, redoing the app, etc. however Google home will NOT recognize the light. I have to manage this light separately from the Cync app. Is there anything I can do or is it a forced obsolescence issue meaning it’s time to get a new bulb? The instructions on both Google Home and Cync’s end have both been utilized twice each and no dice.
