NRC Faculty OCs

Let’s face it - it’s completely impossible that Crewel, Trein, Vargas, and Sam are the only teachers employed at the school.

(Crowley isn’t a teacher, he’s a Goth Circus dropout.)

Since it’s still a high school, I have to believe that NRC students also have to take “normal” core classes - Math, Language Arts, Geography, etc.

Which is where Faculty OCs come in!

I have… 4 and a half Teacher OCs (one of them is the former Chemistry/Potion/Alchemy teacher that Crewel replaced, so he counts as half a teacher? I think?)

I’ll probably do a series of posts about each of them in the next day or so, but at the moment, I’m genuinely curious about any other Faculty OCs floating around out there!

Housewardens as Build-A-Bears

This is u/ToxxicRedd’s fault.

Riddle would choose Red Rose Kitty. (For obvious reasons.) He names her Iracebeth. Also, this is his first time at a Build-A-Bear, he’s secretly always wanted to go there, but his mom was very anti-noneducational toy. A moment of silence for Riddle’s terrible childhood.

Leona pointed to a pre-stuffed and dressed Shuri bear, said “That one or whatever”, paid for it, and went to go take a nap in the car. (Don’t worry, the AC is on, he has water, and he’s listening to his favorite music.)

Azul gets an Ursula Bear, and names it Ursula. He’s also part of Team “Never Built a Bear Before”, so he was slightly disturbed by the Sea Witch only having two legs. (And being “naked”.) Also, he may or may not be looking into the feasibility of opening something like a BaB Workshop under the sea.

Kalim gets the White Frosted Animal Cracker Camel because it’s whimsical and as soon as I saw it I could imagine Kalim losing his mind over how cute it is. (Plus, it’s an animal cracker.) He names it Polka Dot, gets frosted cookie, bubblegum, cotton candy, and Enchanted Jasmine scent pods added to it and dresses it up like a genie, because money can’t buy taste, but it can buy you accessories.

Vil’s choice is Marie, (named Marie) because honestly, he’s a very Marie coded Evil Queen. He’s received countless bears over the years, and made several when he was younger for ads, music videos, and films, but this is his first time doing it for “fun”. (He’s photographed carrying the cardboard condo out of the store and BaB is flooded with fangirls. You’re welcome for the free publicity.)

Idia gets to huff the Día de los Muertos kitty. By which I mean he also sprung for the scent pods in each paw. Which scent? This one, probably. Does he bring it back to the dorm and turn it into a Teddy
Ruxpin-esque animatronic companion? Yes. Yes he does. Her name is Purrsephone and she takes his notes for him.

And finally, the one that started this entire thought experiment that has consumed my brain for the past day and a half: Malleus’s Beargoyle. Which is actually a Grotesque. But a cute one, at least. Also, the creation ritual was fascinating, but really, if the shop keeper didn’t want the heart to actually start beating, she should have specified that the magic was supposed to be metaphorical. (Also, he refuses to tell anyone what he named it. You know, for Fae reasons.)

This is Grand Rapids, 150 years ago today

[Disclaimer: I am just an autistic lady infodumping about stuff that I think is neat, I am not employed by the GRPM]

This is a stereoscope and reproduction stereoview card with an image of the Centennial Arch on Campau Place in Grand Rapids on July 4, 1876.

[more information about the original artifact is available here on the GRPM Collections online database]

One of my favorite exhibits at the Grand Rapids Public Museum is the scale recreation of what the city looked like back in 1890 called “The Streets of Old Grand Rapids”.

If you’re lucky, your visit might occur during the shift of a volunteer or two (or more), giving you a chance to take a closer look at some of the artifacts, just like this stereoscope from the Voigt Herpolsheimer Department Store.

And if it’s been a while since you visited, you should definitely head back to check out the brand new upper level of the Streets!

Climb the stairs (or take the lift located behind the pharmacy) to see a recreation of the office of Ezra Holmes, a dentist and one of the founding members of the Kent Scientific Institute, (very conveniently located next to said dentist’s office in the new expansion) the forerunner of the Grand Rapids Public Museum we know and love today.

Edit: formatting ate my link to an article about the Centennial Arch written in 1876, it was a temporary installation - Kind of like ArtPrize, come to think of it…

I really do appreciate when games take the extra step of recognizing the player’s birthday - and I totally wasn’t expecting the message to be voiced!

Receiving a set of tenfold keys was also pretty unexpected, I figured I would *maybe* get thaumarks or a grab bag of upgrade items; ten free mirror pulls was a pleasant surprise.

Since we’re all probably sick of the piles of basic popcorn sitting in our inventories (thanks so much, *Cater*), what’s your favorite way to fancy it up?

Mine is either a light dusting of cinnamon sugar and dried fruit, or a few shakes of my top secret Everything Bagel seasoning blend 😊
