Two near identical pets drastically different costs (Lemonade)
Hi! Me and my girlfriend both have cats but they are on different insurance policies. The cats are very similar and the plans we have for them are also very similar, except for a few things which I will mention. Their insurance though this year is going up by around $13, whereas mine has mostly stayed the same (only went up about $1). They were originally the same price and both were shelter cats. Location is Raleigh, NC.
Girlfriend’s cat: Male 4 year old tabby, $250/yr deductible with 70% back on covered bills and up to 10,000 a year. Did a routine check up last year and that is it. $40 a month.
My cat: Female 5 year old tuxedo, $250/yr deductible with 80% back on covered bills and up to 20,000 a year. I did a routine check last year as well as some X-rays. $27 a month.
Note that both plans cover: accident or illness resulting in eligible condition and preventative care
When talking with the company they just keep saying it’s inflation and not to compare cats as they’re both different (yet I don’t really see how).
Are they getting screwed here or is it that I am being undercharged? Is this expected for pet insurance companies to be around this price, or would changing companies help at all? Any advice would be appreciated.
