Interview prep help - Associate Data Scientist role

Hello !

I recently applied for the Associate Data Scientist role at Navy Federal in Marketing Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence group and have an upcoming interview with them. I wanted to check if anyone here has interviewed with them recently and what I can expect from the interview process, especially the technical rounds.

Would love to connect and hear about your experience. Thanks!

Moving to Detroit Without a Car Best Areas/Apartments for $1200–1400?

Hey everyone! I’m moving to Michigan in July for work and would love some advice on where to live.

My office is in Downtown Detroit, and I won’t have a car initially, so I’m looking for areas/buildings with decent public transportation, walkability, and overall safety.

Budget: ideally around $1200–1400 max for a studio or 1BR.

I’m also considering areas like Ferndale, Royal Oak, Southfield, and Midtown/Downtown.

Would really appreciate honest opinions on:

  • safest areas without a car
  • buildings to avoid
  • commute experience
  • whether downtown is worth it without a car
  • any hidden gem apartments I should check out

Thanks in advance!

Has anyone here used Hiring Cafe for tech jobs? Would love to hear success stories or honest reviews.

I recently started trying the platform for Data Engineering roles and I’m curious how effective it has been for others compared to LinkedIn, Indeed, Dice, etc.

A little about me:

  • 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering / Analytics
  • Strong with Python, SQL, AWS, ETL pipelines, Databricks, PostgreSQL
  • Recently worked on AI + LLM projects including natural language to SQL systems using Claude Code / LLM workflows
  • Currently looking for Data Engineering opportunities in the US

One important factor for me is that I require H1B sponsorship.

Would really appreciate:

  • Any Hiring Cafe success stories
  • Tips to optimize profile/applications there
  • Whether recruiters are actually active on the platform
  • If companies sponsoring H1B respond there more often

Thanks in advance!
