when the doctor asks…

“Is baby sleeping in a bassinet or crib?”

What if I say no? Will it spark a conversation about safe cosleeping? Will more questions follow? Will I be shamed, or have to endure an attempt to convince me crib sleeping is safer? Or do they just say “ok!” and note it down?

What REALLY happens at the doctor when you tell them your baby is cosleeping? I’ve been too scared to say no so I just say yes, she’s crib sleeping. Obviously you should always be honest with doctors, so am I the only one not being honest about this? Some advice/experience please! 🩷

When you guys say chest sleeping do you mean side lying?

I always see people talk about how they “chest sleep” or sleep “chest to chest” with their baby, but what does that mean?

Are people sleeping with their baby on top of them, or are we doing a side-lying chest to chest position?

My baby is 4 months old and she’s having a hard time so we recently started doing a side lying position where I’m in the c-curl but I’m also holding her to me so we’re laying chest to chest on our sides. She really only likes falling asleep on her side nowadays, even in her crib. I feel safer holding her, but I was unsure if this is what everyone else means by chest to chest, or if it means something else?

Rethinking life while pumping at max vacuum level - TW: DMER and I’m upset.

Sometimes pumping makes it feel like my nipples are being tickled and it’s literally so fking infuriating, to the point I have to turn it up literally all the way so that it hurts because I’d rather pain than being tickled. I’m not talking about my let down I’m talking about the act of pumping feeling like it’s gently tickling my fucking nipples the entire time.

But even when I turn it up, the pain goes away and it’s back to feeling like I’m being fucking tickled. I hate this. 4 months pumping and I hate this so much. I tried formula and I felt guilty. I’m such a slacker on pumping. Sometimes I wait 5-6 hours in between and then pump until I have enough for 2 feedings. I literally fucking hate this right now I can feel it in my legs it’s only been 11 minutes !!!!!!!!!

Should a sick parent refrain from taking care of LO?

I’ve been a solo parent for almost 2 days because my husband is sick. We have a 4 month old and this is the first time either of us have been sick since she’s been born. Is it overkill for the sick parent to not take care of the child while they’re sick? I empathize with the fact he needs rest, but being the only one hands-on with the baby is exhausting. We opted for childcare today while I worked even though he was home because he’s sick. Is that necessary?

Misunderstanding sidecars vs open cribs/toddler beds? What is safe for a baby?

Edit: my baby is 3mo.

My fiancée and I are going to convert our bed to a floor bed soon, and we also have a convertible crib (bassinet->crib->toddler bed). I had what I thought was a bright idea to convert the bassinet to a toddler bed since we’ll have a floor bed, and just put the toddler bed between the wall and our bed like a sidecar crib. But I guess I might be misunderstanding sidecars…it seems like they are a different product entirely separate from a crib (sidecars can actually be fixed to the bed to ensure no gaps?), and using a toddler bed as a sidecar for a baby may not be the safest option?

Has anyone done this, used a toddler bed as a sidecar? Is it extremely recommended against? Also, for people that use sidecar cribs how did it work out when your baby started moving around? Do they not crawl out of the sidecar and fall off the bed, or crawl around the room in the night if it’s a floor bed?

carriers vs wraps in the long run

My LO is almost 3 months old and getting a bit too heavy for me to enjoy wearing her in the stretchy wrap! We have a structured momcozy carrier that is working really well, but I’m also considering investing in a woven ring sling or woven baby wrap. Is it even worth it to get more wraps when the carrier will probably take me to 2+ years old?

With the wraps, I love that there’s so many different fun ways you can wrap them so you can have a side carry, back carry, front/forward carry all in one plus looking fashionable. The structured one does just as well and will last a long time, but I can’t do a side carry or back carry and it can really only be worn one way and will always look like a baby carrier. For me, the main selling point in sticking with the carrier is to not spend more money.

What do we think?
