Big Metal Unit.

I did Abazigal before Sendai just to get this earlier.

Usually I give it to Keldorn, swinging Carsomyr, and that would move him from AC -6 to -14. When he's not using Carsomyr, he's using Firetooth, which can fire the projectiles that come with the suit.

If I give it to Mazzy, with Crom Faeyr, that moves her AC from -11 to -19. I'll be upgrading the Rune hammer soon, and without a shield, it's the same -6 to -14 AC jump as Keldorn.

It can move Neera from -2 to -15 AC, but disables her spells, so probably not worth it.

It moves my second created character, a cleric/thief, from AC -12 to -23, but would disable her thief abilities.

If I move it to my archer charname, it moves AC from -10 to -19, and his bow seems to be able to fire the projectiles.

Nalia doesn't have the strength to use it.

Suggestions?

That was a surprise: Neera's ToB Quest

I've never romanced Neera before, so I never had this quest.

After Saradush, a bird (yes, a bird) tells her about an opportunity to ambush Vicross, someone only mentioned in SoA.

So, off we go, except it becomes clear we're on the wrong side of an ambush by 12 Thayans with literally no chance to prepare, and with Neera incapable of casting spells. I lost Keldorn and Mazzy before killing the Thayans.

Then you're immediately teleported away without being able to rez your colleagues, or pick up their stuff or the loot from the guys you killed.

You're in a gladiator pit and have to fight a bunch of Yuan ti, who aren't terribly hard.

You go to the gladiator prep area, but before you can go to the merchants, the most famous red wizard of thay asks you to kill Vicross.

Totally wanted to do that, but I guess I irritated him too much and he started attacking me.

Except I didn't realize he was attacking me until he time stopped and cast about a dozen spells. Tried to run away, but he could target me even when I was behind a wall and he couldn't see me.

It ended predictably.

I hope I have a convenient save.

I'll go back there, but I think I'll do the two prep quests for Yaga Sura first, if only to have enough gold for the merchants.

Addendum: Planting some traps and a couple of skull traps softened up the Thayans sufficiently to turn the ambush back on my terms. I lost a couple of companions in the fighting pit, but that's hardly tragic with a summoned Planetar in the party. The magic items from the merchants in the staging area were a little underwhelming.

Ready to move on to Vicross estate.

Neera's Wild Magic Stifles Bodhi

I hate when Bodhi steals your significant other before her final showdown, so I was pleasantly surprised when Neera's wild magic stopped it from happening.

Can you check romance status?

I haven't had any romance content for a while, and I'm not sure if I broke it.

Can the status be changed?

Watchers Maze: Pit fiend, Cornugons, Velithuus

I'm getting my party destroyed by this dead magic room. The initial fear is taking out 1-3 of my characters.

My best result has been staying behind the initial teleport location and summoning what I can get from my magic items. But I can't even cast spells to remove the poison from the devils.

I remember this being a hard encounter, but I've failed ~6 times already and haven't come very close.

Charname1: 13 archer. Elven court bow. +3 longsword, moon dog figurine.

Charname2: 11 cleric 13 thief. Arla's dragonbane or +3 flail of ages.

Keldorn: 13 Inquisitor. Firetooth +4 or Carsomyr +5

Neera: 14 Wild Mage. Sling of Everard, staff of fire, flesh golem manual.

Mazzy: 13 Fighter. Hammer of thunderbolts. Girdle of Hill giant strength, Tuigan Bow.

Nalia: 14 Mage. Tansheron's bow, cleric's staff +3.

I'm still in shadow of amn. I usually do part or all of watcher's keep in SoA but this hasn't been an impossible encounter until now. I just steamrolled Firkraag, so I don't know why I'm having so much trouble. I'd rather not lose what I've done so far in the maze level

Edit: I have looked for advice, but all the suggestions I could find were for significantly higher level characters.

Rumors overheard at royal debutante ball

I need a ton of rumors to be overheard at a royal ball. They can be red herrings, so context isn't important or I can change the details.

The context is an imperial debutante ball for the youngest daughter of the emperor. The empire consists of several former nations that have been accumulated over the last 80 years. There is residual conflict between the nations. There are also nobles and dignitaries from other nations that might worry about further imperial expansion. Plus some aristocrats or wealthy people. About 800 people in the ballroom.

Note: the imperial expansion has been all about giving rights to all people, regardless of gender, species, etc. and has eliminated slavery, improved worker's rights and so on. So of course many nobles don't appreciate that change.

Trite rumors about personal behavior of other attendees are needed too. Things like someone spiking the punch or sobbing under the table because someone refused a request to dance.

I plan on typing the rumors on slips of paper, folding them up, putting them in a hat, then occasionally the character with the best perception roll can pull one of the rumors. They can choose to follow up or not. Then I'll improvise a mini encounter if I haven't written any notes.

Churning Companions to Get Quests

I usually cycle through some companions just to get their quests, However I seldom max XP, so this can mean some of my final companions, at least, aren't at their max level even if charname is.

In BG2ee, what do you do?

I like my party, but I like the planar sphere quest too (and I don't want to use his corpse to open the sphere), but valygar is redundant in my current party. The Jaheira quests take too long to develop, so I don't think I'll bring her back in, either.

Crap, lost Golden Pantaloons

I acquired the silver pants only to realize I no longer have the gold ones. Getting the powered armor at the end is a favorite thing for me. Plus I hate having to go through the ransom to get the silver ones with my good party.

Most likely dropped them when I was given something else. Maybe when Nalia was taken away, though I can't remember where that happened. Checked a couple of former companions, but they didn't have them.

I'm playing on a Mac with no mods, so I don't think I can cheat them in.

Argh!

UPDATE: I checked save files and didn't have them early in chapter 2. Either I somehow never got them out of Irenicus's dungeon, or I dropped them when Imoen was taken from me and one of her items displaced them.

UPDATE 2: Crap, crap, crap. my bg1 run ended with a companion carrying the golden Pantaloons so it didn't pass into the character files I imported to BG2.

So I am totally looking for a cheat. Though it's not urgent because I just need to get them by the time I get the bronze pantalettes

UPDATE 3: Fixed it. Had to edit the .lua file first.

Complex tear of posterior horn/body junction of the medial meniscus with a prominent radial component. Lateral meniscus is normal.

That's the finding of my MRI. This is from an injury, not degenerative. I've been hoping it would improve, but it really hasn't. It's not terrible but it affects my life quality. So I guess I'll schedule a meniscectomy. Any advice?

Ranger's Stronghold Quest (BG2) is Effed!

I've tried it a few times and never completed it, but this time was particularly frustrating (and I know I share fault because I don't do full saves very often).

I stopped the people from tearing up the forest and spoke to the Dryad(?) outside the ranger's cottage to get closure for that quest.

Spent a few days in Athkatla and figured I needed to go back to the Umar hills when Delon ran into me and told me I needed to stop the invasion and that I had 3 days to get there. I immediately left but had a cool reception from the townsfolk. Talked to the local magistrate who said I was stripped of my Stronghold.

Well crap, how could it have taken more than 3 days, though bandits stopped me on the way?

Then I checked my journal, and it said I never did the dryad's quest. Wtaf?

My last full save is 23 game days ago, and I don't want want to lose all of that. It includes all of Amaunator's temple, getting Nalia Back, romancing Neera, and more.

If I was doing an evil run, I would have killed everyone in the Umar Hills.

Now I'm trying to remember if there are any consequences for losing my Stronghold. I don't like it.

UPDATE: I took a different path to Immesvale, going through DeArnise map instead of Umar Hills (Immesvale doesn't appear on my map, and I can't pan to the right) and everything seems fine. what a fine piece of programming.

UPDATE #2. I also completed the third quest. petty sure I never completed it before because the magic items I got isn't familiar.

Does fading to black mean . . .

BG2EE.

Trying to romance Neera, but it's pretty early. We just entered an Inn (the one in Waukeen's Promenade in Athkatla) and she says she's thirsty, so I agree to buy her a drink. Mentions something about having a drink in one hand, and I respond about using the other hand to hold my hand. Not sure if there is more dialogue, but the screen fades to black before we can move to talk to the bartender.

Not sure what it signifies.

I swarm characters that run ahead of the party.

If a character is ahead of the rest of the party, and I have melee combat enemies, that character is getting swarmed and possibly brought down because I keep enemies on an adversary once they've attacked it unless another character has proven they're more of a threat.

On one hand, I think that's what they should do. Concentrate attacks until the adversary is down.

On the other hand , I'm discouraging heroism.

Do you force your interesting backstory anecdotes to be revealed?

I create so many backstory anecdotes, and few get revealed.

Just finished a short campaign and I never got to tell the story of why my character never lies.

When I was seven, I was only about 3 feet tall, and I was climbing a shelf to reach a toy my mother had put on the top shelf to keep away from me. The shelf jostled, and a crystal horse fell and shattered on the floor.

My mother was a single parent, and although she made a comfortable home for me, the horse was the only valuable possession she had, and the only heirloom she had from her mother.

When she returned, I told her the neighbor's cat had snuck into our apartment and knocked it off the shelf.

She accepted what I said, but the look on her face told me she knew I was lying and that it broke her heart.

Making my mother feel like that broke my heart and I promised myself to never lie again.

.....

So, would you go out of your way to tell that story, in game?

Stuck in Peldvale

I've played BG1 a few dozen times, but I don't think this has ever happened.

I'm on the trail of the bandits, and I cleared the Peldvale map, but I can't seem to find a way to go to the next map. Even though I tried to leave at several points of the Peldvale map, no new map is an option.

Curious. Help?

FIXED. Had to deal with Tranzig.

Ajantis and Baeloth?

I'm thinking of using them together, but I know Ajantis will eventually attack Baeloth. I also know that you can redirect Ajantis and move on. But I don't know if the attack can happen at an inopportune time, like in the middle of combat.

Is this combination doable? I want Baeloth to replace Dynaheir, but I don't want to lose my main Frontline guy in Minsc, and the only way to keep Minsc but lose Dynaheir is to kill her off, which I don't want to do for roleplaying.

So I thought of doing the double switch. I've never kept Ajantis in my party, so I don't know how difficult he is to keep with one evil character in my party

Guard Rotation Minutes

I just wanted to put something down on paper to see how untenable the situation was. I can't predict injuries, so I just had everyone play 70 games.

Name...games...minutes...average

Herro....70........1680.........24.0

Rollins..70........1680.........24.0

KPJ.......70........1120.........16.0

Burries..70.........980..........14.0

Green....70........1120..........16.0

Jakuc...70........1120..........16.0

Ryan.....20.........172.............8.6

Burries and Ryan might be OK with that, but no one else would. Could maybe give them another 1200 minutes as a wing, but that won't help much--less than 3 minutes a game more for the top 6 players.

Someone has to get moved before the season starts.

Highly Mathematical Early Estimate of Wins 26-27

27 -- prorated based on win percentage without Giannis last year.

+6 -- contributions of Herro, Kas, Ware, JJ, and rookies or whatever they are traded for.

+3 -- player development or having Nance, Ous, etc. for the whole year.

+4 -- having a decent coach

Total: 40 wins, putting us 10th or 11th in the East, probably.

Prove me wrong. 🙂

Romancing Neera BGEE

I think she's the only female you can romance in I and Ii. I don't think I ever got far with the romance in either game because I don't usually keep her.

I don't think there are any alignment or race limitations.

Any suggestions?
