European Economic and Social Committee debate on Stop Killing games is happening in under 3 hours (2:30pm Brussels time, 8:30am EDT)

Following the European Parliament public hearing that took place last month, the European Economic and Social Committee is having a debate about the Stop Destroying Videogames ECI to which they invited SKG to participate.

Thus, there will be on-site and remote presence of SKG representatives.

You can follow the debate online on their livestream: https://www.eesc.europa.eu/en/agenda/our-events/events/int-section-19052026/int-section-webstream

The EESC debate has multiple topics through their day, but the highlighted time here (2:30pm Brussels time, 8:30am EDT) is the scheduled start time to debate our ECI.

Consider this post as a mere pre-hearing discussion thread. Once the hearing starts, we will make a new Megathread post.

The SKG subreddit is now partially restricting AI generated content.

Hello,

After deliberation and receiving some complaints, the moderation team of the r/StopKillingGames/ subreddit decided to restrict Generative AI usage in this subreddit to narrow use cases. As you are very well aware, Stop Killing Games is a consumer rights movement looking into stopping publishers from removing access for what we've already paid for. This subreddit is merely a branch of this movement. Please note that the decision below is neither an endorsement nor condemnation of the usage of AI by the movement itself.

Currently our subreddit DOES NOT have a generative AI problem, as most of the posts seem human made. However, If we continue allowing generative AI text and images, the opposition may start to claim that our movement is inflated by innauthentic content. Also, a lot of the users here are looking for high-quality human made posts and not AI slop. Therefore, it was decided that we should restrict the generative AI usage.

The new rules are:

5. Whenever possible, avoid Generative AI Images in posts. (Only to posts)

> While we don't forbid all possible use cases for AI outright, please avoid using Generative AI Images in posts if possible. If the moderation team think the AI image was too tasteless or needless, it may result into the post being removed. However, one case where we do allow AI is if the AI material being shared was not generated by the OP and outside of their control (e.g. inside a link). This rule only applies to posts, not comments. If you dislike a comment due to AI, downvote it.

6. Whenever possible, avoid having your text written entirely by Generative AI. (Posts + comments)

> The SKG subreddit focuses on human generated content. Posts written entirely by AI are not allowed. Partial and tasteful usage of AI text is allowed, even if not disclosed (e.g. for spellchecking of human text; for a small tl;dr summary of the text). If the moderation team thinks the AI text was too tasteless or needless, it may result into the content being removed. However, one case where we do allow text written completely by AI is AI translation of human text by non-English speakers.

I hope you understand the necessity of these new rules. The comments are of this post will be open for us to get feedback and suggestions. Feel free to agree or disagree with our decision and state the reasons why! We are open to all discussions.

Thank you!
