Fold/ flip phones worth the risk?

Hi all, I’ve decided to move away from iPhone and move to android. I’ve narrowed it down to the Oppo Find X9 pro (or the 10 when it comes out in September) but recently, the N6 foldable caught my eye and I’ve fell in love with it. Would be very handy for work with the big screen etc…

My question is: is foldable/ flip phones worth the risk or am I asking for trouble?

Supposedly oppo states that this model can hold up to 600k folds. But heard fold/flip phones, if damaged the screens are really expensive to replace. I’m quite careful with phones. Dropped it maybe few times and screens are ok (on normal phones)

Looking for people who have/had fold phones (especially oppo users) and tell me the good the bad and the ugly with them. And again, is it worth the risk or am I just asking for trouble buying a fold?

Thanks.

iPhone to Android switch, is it worth the risk?

Hi, I’ve been an iPhone user forever and as much as I don’t mind the phones it’s just getting to the stage now that the value for money is just questionable now. A see loads of different phones with loads more tech, better battery, camera…you name it, it’s better, but for half the price!!

I’ve narrowed it down to this Xiaomi 17 pro/ Pro max (would buy the 18 when it’s out). On paper it sounds like a no brainer. I’m already sold on the ‘WOW factor’ it blows the iPhone out the water and with an imported Chinese version, it’s like half the price for double the phone/ storage, Ram etc..

The only thing holding me back is how easy I find the software on iPhone. Every android I pick up and try to use, it takes forever to get to places you want to go and get done. iPhone is like 2 clicks and your at the place you need to be. The Xiaomi software is supposedly the best for iPhone users as it mimics the iOS. But reading/ watching reviews, people living with these phones on the daily that are in Europe (non global ROMs) and finding issues with id verification, bugs, Chinese writing on things, ads, android auto issues, etc.. people then say just get a global flagship which yeah, makes sense but then the whole point was to import the Chinese version to get that value for money as they’re like half price.

If I was to buy a global version from a UK store it’s basically the same as a price as an iPhone so would be no point in switching.

Looking for genuine daily users in the UK that switched from iPhone to android (Xiaomi /hyperos users) and how they feel & cope with the switch, any issues, problems, annoyances etc… and ultimately, do you regret switching to the dark side? As the old saying goes, is it better the devil you know? Let me know thanks in advance.

Current phone: iPhone 16- 128g storage. Semi heavy user

Potential switch: Xiaomi 17 pro/ Pro Max (18 when it comes out in September) 528g or the 1TB (for like half the price of the iPhone equivalent!

Is the hyperOS software worth the risk of switching?
