Best example of inhale vox to show a normie friend

Ok he’s actually a cool guy with lots of different tastes in music, but he doesn’t know metal. He just discovered making sound via inhalation through his yoga teacher. He told me he was looking for different kinds of music which used inhales.

What I need is a few iconic examples of the most clear recording of slam inhale vocal technique. Ideally breaks where there’s not a lot else going on so the vocal is up front and clear.

Thanks y’all!

PBass bridge for better sustain?

I saw some discussion about this subject. My PBass sustain is not what I think it could be. Is there a particular model of bridge you like for a PBass swap? Thanks!

Local Annual Block Parties/Festivals for Rock

Say I’m starting a band (“I’m starting a band”) and making a list of all the annual street party/ festival opportunities locally, even regionally, to be ready for next year. At this point we’re thinking less Pickathon and more Volume Bomb/ Summer Shred type scale. Genre is sludge/doom so our high volume probably rules out the farmers markets. But curious to hear everyone’s yearly go-to’s.

The trope: “You can only see it out of the corner of your eye!”

Looking for more examples of it. Feels like a more widespread trope or might have antiquated origins. Any sightings/citings would be much appreciated! So far I’ve got:

  • In John Dies at the End, when David shows Arnie the invisible beast in the cage in his car, he instructs him to look away and use peripheral vision

  • In the story Little Lambs by Steven Graham Jones, MC can only see the apparition by deliberately looking away >!and another character even does this when talking to MC - holy crap is that a clue?? is MC dead? Are they all dead? Did not think of this until I wrote it.)!<

NOTE: This is NOT the same as a character seeing a jump scare out of the corner of their eye and then it disappears - unless they can make it reappear by looking away again. This is specifically about being able to see an apparition / manifestation by intentionally looking away from it.

Glam/punk bands and a Woody Allen lookalike ca 1990

Arthouse oddball deadpan comedy film. The protagonist was a nervous loner Woody Allen type who for some reason ends up adjacent to a rock club scene. I want to say it was set in NYC. Featured many fun performances of different glam rock bands doing songs with hilarious lyrics. One I remember, to the effect of: “The other day I… saw a girl, yesterday I saw a girl, today I … saw a lot of girls”. I do not suspect this was a very good movie.

Doom duo seeks opener slot

Hey! - I’m in an instrumental duo (drums & bass), we just had our first show at The Snug and we are ready for more. Any local bands need an opener? We have a 30+ min set.

Meditative groovy doom metal FFO Om, Earth, Dhyana, Hashishian. Could pair well with sludge, stoner, noise rock, post-rock.

Thanks! Hit me up.

Hi! I just scored two cherry condition Sunn 410H’s at an estate sale. With dust covers, never gigged. Can anyone point me to a lookup tool to decode the serial? And at 180 ea was this an amazing deal, or just a really good deal? 😁

Did deathcore evolve out of metalcore, or did they come up around the same time? Is the line blurry or is it always clear to you when you hear something you know which it is? Do y’all listen to both, or is there a feeling of separate camps?
