When will I be paid?

Hi everyone
I had a booking (boarding) end August 16th at 2pm. I was expecting the money to begin pending yesterday August 18th, but as of today, the 19th, still nothing
When do you normally get paid? It’s $700 and tbh, I really need the money as soon as possible 😅

Landlord entering house?

Hi everyone, I’m new to Northern Virginia, and I’m also young (early 20s)
This is my first time renting a home here. My landlord is nice, however I’ve noticed she pops by whenever she feels like, and it’s really beginning to irritate me
I looked it up, and she’s supposed to provide a 72 hour notice for maintenance that she’s having done on the home.
Yesterday, she called and told me she was having someone come to do some upkeeping on the house she wanted done. She gave me absolutely 0 notice. Infact, when she called to tell me, I looked outside and already saw their truck backing into the driveway.
She did not come herself yesterday, but previous times she’s entered our home with maintenance people with no warning whatsoever, she will call and tell us she’s outside. Is this legal?
If we have something we need her to fix, is she allowed to come to the house without warning? And if she’s just doing upkeep like painting etc, can she just come by/send maintenance without warning?
Tbh, it’s extremely stressful for me. I’m an introvert and absolutely do not like having people stop by, especially when I’m not expecting anyone

Owner didn’t pay for extra night

I’ve been boarding a dog for over a month now. He was supposed to go home yesterday but his owners flight got delayed and she needed him to stay an extra night. No biggie. I told her I’d modify it and she’d have to confirm on her end. She never did. Now it’s the day he goes home and she still hasn’t accepted it. He leaves in a few hours. She’s messaged me multiple times on the app…so I’m assuming she sees the “accept” ?? I’ve brought it up 3 times now and each time she hasn’t. Idk what to do. I’m not a super confrontational person so me asking 3 times was already awkward
Also, I accidentally broke the dogs leash (it was super flimsy and already practically falling apart) i offered to pay but she said it was fine. I do feel bad about that and hope she wouldn’t leave a bad review. But I worry if I keep pushing about paying the extra night she’ll just be more annoyed…idk. Ugh. People suck.

Vanity sizing is pissing me off

Just like the title says, I’m getting so aggravated with vanity sizing. I’m not even that tiny of a person, I’m pretty average in height and weight. I’m a 5’3 125lbs woman. I recently ordered a tank top and leggings from Brandy Melville. I was expecting the tank top to be tighter fitting like the image. I can’t even WEAR it bc it’s so big, when I bend over you can see my entire bra. And there’s not tightening on the straps. It’s so big and loose on me.
I’ve always been a size 4, occasionally a 6 depending on the brand. Recently I went and tried on a pair of shorts…I fit into a size 2!!! Like wtf. I had a baby last year and my waist is NOT a size 2. I don’t need brands making their smaller sizes larger to make me feel better. I just thought it was dumb. I’ve NEVER fit into a size 2.
I wear xs in a lot of things now and I used to just fit small!! I have a bigger booty and used to wear medium sized sweatpants, now I fit xs?!? And again, I literally weigh MORE and have a larger waist than I did a year ago due to pregnancy
And again, I don’t consider myself to be a super small person, I’m average. I don’t understand why Brandy Melville clothing is huge on me and I don’t understand why I supposed wear an xs now

How to decline after meet and greet?

Hi everyone
Today I had a meet and greet with a new potential client for boarding. Their pup was amazing! Super sweet and well trained. I was however kind of put off by the owners. They were extremely up tight, not very polite. They had a million strange rules for their dog like I had to wipe its butt after every poo (it’s not a long haired breed or a pug) and I’d have to sent photos of the dogs poo everyday. Stuff like that…just a bit odd to me. I was mainly put off by their demeanor. Again, not polite people and it was difficult making conversation with them.
To be honest, I don’t have much interest in caring for their dog after the meet and greet. I feel as though they’re the type of people who will find any reason to complain or have a problem with very minor issues. Not that I’m expecting there to be any problems with the dogs stay, but I’m sure you get what I’m saying.
Would you still book with them? I’m not too interested anymore. I want to decline but unsure of how to, considering the meet went well and their pup seemed to like me

How far out booked are you?

I’m not new to Rover, I’ve been sitting on the app for 4 years (boarding only)
I used to work from it part time and didn’t take it too seriously. However, since I’ve had my daughter I now do Rover full time and take it more seriously
I took a few months break (moved and had a baby) but I started accepting requests again this past month
I’ve gotten over 40 requests. August has been fully booked, I have bookings for September and October and I’m getting requests for November and December

Young moms?

I got pregnant at 18, had a miscarriage, pregnant at 19, had an abortion, pregnant at 20 and had my daughter
Everywhere I go, I feel like an outcast. I never see girls my age with kids and I feel so alone a lot of times. I live in a very wealthy area and every time I leave my house to bring my daughter to the park, all the moms are middle aged business women (love them they’re badass) or it’s kids with their nanny’s who are also usually older
I moved to this area 9 months ago and have only met 1 girl my age with a baby, but the friendship didn’t work out
Idk what my point here is exactly, I just feel like I’m judged everytime I leave the house alone with my baby. I’m married and we live on our own, but people always assume other things. My daughter is a spitting image of my husband, she has blonde hair, blue eyes, and his entire face. I have brown hair and brown eyes. I’ve been asked numerous times if I’m her nanny. Sometimes my mom comes up to visit, and people assume I live with my mom and that my mom helps care for my baby
I know there’s girls out there my age with a baby too, but it’s so hard to find them. Everytime I take my daughter to the library or indoor playground I feel so sad and awkward, all the moms are 30s-40s and huddle around talking to each other and the few times I’ve tried to talk to one of them, they seem confused or put off
I just feel lonely, I want friends and I don’t care if those friends have kids or not, but it would be nice to have a mom friend my age who has a kid my daughter could have playdates with

Can owner leave me a bad review?

I had someone reach out for a boarding request for next week and I mentioned I wasn’t available. I told them I already had 1 dog booked from rover those dates and another from Facebook, and that it was a mistake my calendar hadn’t been updated to “unavailable”, I changed it right after she texted me. Well, she still went ahead and confirmed the booking in her end anyways. I never approved it on mine. Now she keeps texting me saying rover charged her over $1000. I thought rover only charged when both parties approved?? I could be wrong. Idk, but can she leave me a review now? I’m so confused why she even pressed confirm to begin with

What’s the craziest thing a dog has done?

I’ll go first
I board, and one time I was watching a very sweet and very GIANT pup. I had to step into my backyard to grab something real quick, I left him in the living room. I was genuinely outside for about 10 seconds. Well this guy missed me already
He fully jumped through my glass sliding door. Entire thing shattered. The most surprising part, pup was completely unharmed. Not a scratch on him. Idk what angel was watching over him, but yeah. He was a sweetheart after that though!

Overwhelmed with social media

Does anyone else get overwhelmed with social media presence while pregnant/postpartum?
Obviously I know I don’t have to partake, and for the most part I don’t, it just feels so overwhelming, like I’m expected to do and post a million things
DO NOT GET ME WRONG! I absolutely love seeing women celebrate their babies, and I think the posts are adorable
However, when I was pregnant I saw everyone doing the “half baked” photoshoot. Super cute idea! I never did it, and felt soooo guilty. Like I had fucked up somehow by not posing on my counter surrounded by flour to post online.
Or posting a million ultrasounds, gender reveals, baby showers, all of which have to have tons of food and intricate planning and treats. I understand some people genuinely enjoy planning these things, but I just felt overwhelmed and stressed
Or throwing a “half birthday” party, etc etc. again, I think it’s super creative and cute when others do it, but for me it felt like a lot and I ended up feeling guilty afterwards when I didn’t do photoshoots or partake
I felt like social media was trying to take away my actual time with my baby sometimes. Like I had to get the perfect photo and decorations and whatnot.
And don’t even get me started on all the comparisons that mothers face backlash for 😭

Late pickup times for boarding

How late do you guys allow pickup when boarding someone’s dog?
I have a toddler so we’re usually in bed around 8pm, we also have other dogs who sleep downstairs and can be quite reactive and loud to someone opening the front door
Someone put on their booking they’d be picking their dog up at 6pm, but just messaged me saying they’ll be here tomorrow at 11pm for pickup. That’s just way too late for me. Thinking of telling them no and charging them an extra night

My neighbor called animal control on me

I live in Virginia and have a small 14lbs pup. He’s my best friend and I’ve had him for 4 years
My husband and I recently moved here, about 2 weeks ago it was SUPER hot out for a few days. The weather felt like over 100 degrees
We live in a townhouse and have an elderly neighbor who clearly despises dogs. Our dog is old and actually VERY quiet. He doesn’t even bark when someone rings our doorbell. Occasionally, maybe twice a week, he’ll make a peep in the yard when someone walks past our fence, and that’s it.
Everytime our dog makes noise, she comes around banging on our door claiming he “barks all day and night” and keeps her up for hours. It’s straight insanity, but my husband and I just say okay and close the door
Well, the other week I was dogsitting a puppy. Obviously he has to go out frequently to prevent having an accident inside. I was home all day so I was opening the door and letting the pups out probably every 30 minutes or so, and then I immediately bring them back in. I’m well aware it’s extremely hot and unsafe for them to stay outside for even longer than a minute or two. My dog loves to sunbathe out there, and wouldn’t come in when I called him, so I’d have to pick him up and carry him in. I was very thorough about them not staying in the heat
Well, imagine my shock when around 4pm I look at my Ring doorbell and see animal control at my front door
The lady said someone called and claimed my dog was outside in the heat for several hours crying and barking at the door
I was genuinely flabbergasted. It was a straight up lie, and I was so beyond confused at first
I explained that we let the dogs out frequently for short periods of time, and she believed me. She was very kind and said she wasn’t going to bother with a follow up visit, especially because she didn’t see any dogs outside when she first arrived and when she came in my house she found 2 spoiled puppy’s who are obviously healthy and well cared for in a clean home
I know it was my neighbor who I share a fence with. I’m honestly SO fed up with her. I have not spoken with her, I’m not sure if I want to.
I don’t think her intentions were good when she called. I don’t think she actually cared for my dog and had concern. I think my dog might’ve barked once or twice and it pissed her off and she was probably hoping animal control would lug him away
I’m so upset. I love my dog deeply and he’s so well cared for, having someone accuse me of animal abuse is awful, but it’s even worse living next door to someone who can’t get a grip.

What’s your opinion on the cancellation policy?

What did you choose as your cancellation policy, and why?
Right now I have it as 3 days
Do you have it at more or less? Why so?

When will I achieve star sitter status?

Hey everyone!
I’m close to being a star sitter, the only thing stopping me is my cancellation rate
I went into early labor last year and had to cancel 4 bookings last minute
How do I fix this? With the more dogs I board and don’t cancel, will this rate go down soon?

u/Throneofglassgirlie — 14 days ago

Owner did not want to pay full holiday rates for boarding

Hi everyone!
Today I got a boarding request that falls over Labor Day weekend, and the owner wanted to split the payment so they would only pay the holiday fee on the weekend rather than the full stay
I completely understand their reasoning, however I did politely decline as I do charge quite low at the moment (I’m in a new area and building new clients, hoping to slowly up the charge here soon)
Would you have declined as well? Just looking for feedback 😊 I am not upset about her asking as it was a reasonable question, however I had no interest in accepting.
