Advice for Kickstarter promo on online platforms?

Hello!

I recently launched my Kickstarter page for my queer romantic short film, (if you’d like the link to it, let me know! It was recently selected for “Projects We Love” which has been very exciting!!) and most of the donations have been from family and friends. I wanted to try and get some attention online (which I have in local Facebook film groups and what not), but I tried posting about my short film consistently on TikTok, and I find I’m actually getting less views in general on my TikTok page when talking about my short film, then I do when I periodically post every couple months with something random.

I tried paying for tiktok to promote one of the videos but that actually killed my views even more. Even TikTok Promos said “it looks like you’re getting less views than you normally do” (🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I did pay for your services to help that issue but here we are…) I wonder if maybe me talking about LGBTQ+ content got me shadow-banned in some weird way?? I’m not sure.

So if anyone has any tips for things that worked for them when it came to promoting their Kickstarter on platforms like TikTok or Instagram, that would be great!

Is it safe to share my script with a potential investor?

I’m a newbie with this, so bare with me.

I’ve written a 20-page short film, and I’ve self-funded 2/3 of the budget. But I now have a Kickstarter that is live to help fund the last 1/3. I posted my Kickstarter to a local film community on Facebook and someone reached out to me looking to invest into the higher-costing tiers, but wanted some more info.

I looked them up, and the info they provided me about them checks out. So I don’t think it’s a scam (they’re not like the spam messages I’ve been getting from bots about emailing them to get a higher investment or whatever). And they asked some questions about possible angles, soundtrack, and they asked if I was comfortable, if they could see the script.

I haven’t copyrighted the script, as I was told I wouldn’t need to as I have proof of the different versions, the finished script has been submitted to screenwriting festivals, etc, but I just wanted to ask someone outside of the situation if it would be safe to send them script.

How do I (24F) finally get over the guy (30M) I was seeing

Not sure if this is the right subreddit but here we go.

I started talking to this guy back in November of 2025. I went on Reddit (I know, bad choice) to try and find a casual fling (I’ve had success in the past) and he ended up messaging me. We started talking and it was going great and whatever.

We didn’t actually get the chance to meet up until January of 2026. he would travel for his work and I was at a point in my own career where I was busy a lot of the times, but in between us first messaging and us meeting, we’d talk almost everyday. The distance didn’t affect us too hard with the whole ‘casual fling’ thing, as we’d just text, or send videos, whatever. But then when I’d talk to him about things I was worried about, or insecure about, he was one of the first people in my life who actually met me with compassion. He would reassure me that those weren’t things I should scared of, went out of his way to learn how to accommodate me where needed, and overall it just felt like he cared a lot for me as I did him. We both said we weren’t talking to other people, and discussed how we both were the kind of person who liked to just ‘put all their energy into one person’, so I assumed that meant there was some sort of exclusivity. I developed feelings because I met someone who felt different than the others I’ve spoken to, and I fell hard because of it (rule #1 of NOT to do with flings, but here we are lmao).

Well fast forward to March of 2026, and he’s barely talking to me. We had met up twice now, once for a meet/date (?) at the theatres, and the second time to hang out at his place. We had a third hang out planned, but he had a family emergency that he had to fly out for last minute, and then right afterwards was sent out for work.

I got super anxious and self conscious, because I could see a change in pattern I suppose. He went from seeming interested in talking to me and wanting to talk to me, to only me initiating any conversation of ours. Then, my childhood dog passed away unexpectedly. And when I told him, he replied maybe a day or two later?? Saying how I must be so distraught and he’s so sorry for what happened, and if I need anything to let him know. And I replied the same day, and he didn’t even reply until a week later.

So I ended things. I could tell he was pulling away and I was honestly so depressed and stressed out because I felt like I had to fight to make him stay. I wrote out this whole paragraph about how I felt, how I felt hurt by his silence and that I was confused by it all, whatever. But that I still wished things could’ve been different and that I had unfortunately developed feelings for him. And all he had to say to that was “I’m sorry that it didn’t work out either. I hope that you’re well.” And I was kinda just baffled. Because he replied almost immediately upon seeing it (which at the time he wasn’t doing) and all he had to say was that.

I learned after the fact that he was talking to other people maybe about a week before I ended things (before the passing of my dog and all that stuff). I found out because a woman on Reddit posted a post asking if anyone knew what happened to him, because apparently they had been chatting for a month (only about a week or so while we were still talking, and then a couple weeks after I ended things), and then he suddenly deleted his Reddit account. (him deleting his Reddit account was probably 2 weeks after we ended things. I was surprised even, he had been active on that for 5+ years, so it felt weird for him to delete it). This woman he was talking to had posted on a local sub asking if anyone knew where he (put his username) might’ve gone and if he was okay.

I even figured out that he started actively searching for other flings/relationships while we were seeing each other as well. I was able to find a post that he made about looking for ‘something sensual, passionate, and consistent’ (which was wild to me because the only reason our thing was inconsistent was because HE TRAVELLED. FOR WORK.)

Anyway, the whole reason I made this post is because I’m fucking tired of this dude being on my mind. When I first ended things obviously I was heartbroken, but I had felt this relief of not needing to constantly be worried if I was even wanted in the sense that I wanted to be by him. I felt sort of liberated. But in the last two months he’s been on my mind a lot and I hate it. I’ve fully had dreams about him, TWICE. and I don’t want to. I hate waking up and being reminded of how good of a thing I thought I had, until he basically left me high and dry. It fucking sucks. But WHY does my brain keep going back to him??

I feel like part of it might be because I’ve been back on dating apps for a little bit, and I feel like when things start to show some possibility of it going somewhere, I start to worry about my insecurities, which then causes me to think back to how well he reassured me and made me feel loved regardless of how insecure I was, and then it makes me spiral because I feel like I’ll never find that again.

I blocked his number, and I don’t remember it off the top of my head. But part of me wishes to reach out to him to just be like “did you even like me? Were you even interested? Did us meeting up make you realize you actually weren’t attracted to me?”. I think having that closure would make me feel 10x better. And I’m so tempted to reach out (we shared our instagrams to each other once, and would send reels. So I could contact him through instagram) but I also feel insane doing that. But idk, I’m neurodivergent, and the last time I was in a predicament like this, I decided to say fuck it and talk it out with the guy (not to get back together, but to move on and clear the air) and it made me feel so much better and the guy and I are still in touch.

I don’t want to be in touch with him, I just wish I had answers as to why he started seeking elsewhere. And I wish I had answers as to why I can’t just leave this all in the past. (And why my fucking brain won’t stop dreaming about him). I hate it. And any advice to get over this mess will be greatly appreciated.

help with mending a tear in pants

I was attending sewing lessons weekly, and after finishing a tote bag in class, I asked my teacher if she could help me with mending a pair of pants a family member asked me to repair.

I’m not entirely sure how to continue. I’m assuming her plan was to do a zig zag stitch across the entirety of the rip, but she never fully explained to me what I was supposed to do. She kinda just took over and had me watch. And my issue now, is that I can’t attend the classes anymore due to schedule conflicts and I have no way of contacting my teacher lmao.

So if anyway has any idea as to the kind of mending technique she was using, and how to proceed, that’d be lovely :)

Hiccup? Something else?

(Repost cuz the video was muted)

I was watching back this video and I didn’t even notice the noise and slight jostle that my lil guy did. Is this a hiccup? Can hamsters even hiccup?? LOL. Not sure what this was.

Can I train a 6 year old dog to not be reactive to people?

Hello! My (24F) older brother (25M) has a 6 year old Doberman/Great Pyrenees mix who is very aggressive to people he doesn’t know and other dogs.

My brother got him in 2020, so as a pup he was barely socialized. He would see my brother all the time, and he would only see me, my parents, and my other brother periodically because we lived in different houses. But even though it was periodic, he never became fearful or aggressive with us.

With time, he seems to slowly grow comfortable with people, but he needs to be constantly around them to do so. When my brother and his current girlfriend started dating, it took a while before he was okay with her around. Now that they live together, he loves her.

But, he has sent two people to the hospital from bites. And both times were with people he lives with. First time was with my brother’s girlfriend. The dog was lying on the bed with her and she shifted or moved to cuddle him, and he got scared, and he bit her behind her ear which required stitches.

The second time, my brother’s roommate was very drunk. I’m not sure what happened that led to the roommate being bit, but from what I understand, the roommate sat down on the couch beside him, spooked him, and my brother’s dog bit his lip. Stitches were required as well, and the city contacted my brother to give him a warning and say that anytime his dog leaves the house, he must wear a muzzle.

My brother can’t have anyone ‘new’ (who the dog doesn’t already know and is comfortable with) over to the house, because he will attack them. And if they do come over (the dog is left in the house and the guests will just come in the backyard) he will sit and watch and bark the whole time.

It feels like his reactiveness definitely stems from anxiety. My brother does wish his dog wasn’t as reactive, but I don’t think he’s considering hiring a trainer because he doesn’t have the money/time. I would love to try and train him myself, whether that’s I drive over 2-3 times a week and spend 20-30 mins with him doing desensitization training with him. But I also don’t want to accidentally sensitize him to people instead of desensitize (which I learned is a possible risk with desensitization training)

Any advice would be appreciated. Im also not sure if he’s ’too far gone’ due to his age (or if that’s even a thing). But I’d still be interested in trying if people believe it’s viable.

Can i use VLOOKUP in place of XLOOKUP?

Hello again,

I posted a confusing post earlier today, so apologies for those who saw it. I was having a hard time wording the issue I was having lmao. But after doing some digging, I was able to find a tutorial that does what I'm trying to do.

Only issue is that it uses XLOOKUP, and when using Excel 2019 (the only version I have access to) I notice I only have VLOOKUP. Can I use VLOOKUP in place of XLOOKUP? From my understanding, the person in the video uses XLOOKUP to auto-populate cells based on the input value in a cell. The cells auto-populate with info because there's a directory with the needed info, on a separate sheet.

I'll try and link the youtube video in the comments to help explain what im trying to do lol, because I don't think I can post links in my post.

Is there a way to format a sheet so it auto-inputs numbers in adjacent boxes, based on the number you first type in? (Excel 2019)

Hello!

I’m currently working on a backlog of payroll deductions, and I’m trying to speed up the process. What im trying to do is that if I input the net amount from a pay stub into a box, excel will recognize the number and then automatically input its EI, CPP, Income Tax deductions (canadian tax deductions for clarification) and gross amount into the adjacent boxes along the same row.

So for example, if in box A1 I type the net amount is $746, it’ll automatically input that the EI deduction was $15, CPP deduction was $45, income tax was $135, and the gross amount was $941. So it saves me the time of needing to find each transaction and its equivalent deductibles, by instead having a formula saved that recognizes I inputted a recognized paystub amount, and inputs the rest of the info for me. (The employees for the payroll backlog are on salary, so they normally have the same pay each week, but throughout the years there’s been changes)

I know in Excel 2021, you can use the ‘IF’ equation, but unfortunately my current version of excel is the 2019 version. So if anyone has a way that I could do this on excel, that would be great!

Know any stores that sell these Korean sodas?

I buy these sodas all the time when I’m in Toronto (shoutout Kibo market in Union), and I wanted to see if people knew if they’re available anywhere in Ottawa.

How to reinforce fabric so it doesn’t rip

Hello!

I only started taking sewing classes recently, so I’m still very new, but I need some advice on how to reinforce a shirt of mine.

I have an apron belly, so some of my longer shirts tend to fit me a bit tighter than I’d like. So I’ve started making cuts along the side to loosen the fabric. The only issue is it begins to rip at the tip of the cut, where I stopped cutting. Is there a way for me to add stitches along the top, so it doesn’t rip past the stitch?? Or should maybe top stitch along the edges and join in at the top? I’ve included pictures to show what I’m talking about :)

Thanks for the help!

Formatting a montage with in-scene dialogue and present day voice-over

In my script that I'm currently writing, there's a montage to show passage of time between two characters as they fall in love with each other. The montage includes in-scene dialogue of the two talking with each other, along with a 'present day' voiceover from one of the character's actively confessing her feelings for the other. I was told my montage formatting wasn't correct by another redditor on this page, and wanted to get second opinions on how to format it to make the montage less confusing.

The main issue is the two characters communicate exclusively via a phone. (Think 'The Lake House [2006]' but over a phone rather than with letters, and with one character being from 1970 and the other from 2020). So the in-scene dialogue contains voiceovers, while the present day voice-over is also formatted as a voiceover, so I wasn't sure how to format the montage to make it clear which voiceovers are 'in-scene' and which ones are 'present day V.O'

I'll include a snippet from my script to show how I currently have it formatted.

any idea what this behaviour is?

I noticed yesterday my male dwarf started doing this, and I’m not too sure what it is that’s he’s doing.

My hamster was seen by a specialist and they believe he has cancer, so he’s been put on meds to keep him comfortable until it’s time. He’s still been running around, eating, drinking, so I don’t think it’s his time yet. And he takes the meds no problem (he gets a tad offended when I first show him the syringe haha) but I’ve noticed this behaviour start after starting the meds (small dosage of meticam)

any ideas on what this could be?

(Quick edit: I’ve only ever seen him do this at around 9-10pm. And he’s only ever done it in his enclosure)

My hamster has one large lump and another small lump on his stomach. I’ve been referred to a specialist and that specialist appointment is in two days from making this post (approximately 3 week wait time since last vet appointment as the specialist is very busy)

My hamster is still eating and running fine. I feel like there might be a slight decrease in water consumption but I’m not 100% sure. Been feeding him additional cucumbers to give him some extra water.

But I’ve noticed that he tends to walk a bit weird with his hind legs and I think it’s because of the bump. And I do think it’s rubbing on his wheel when he runs (which he RUNS. Bro looks like he’s running a marathon in two hours)

Should I remove his wheel? I don’t want to stress him out by removing his favourite activity, as his last enclosure had an improper and small wheel that he couldn’t use. So after giving him a proper wheel he LOVES it. But I also don’t want to agitate the lumps more, as they’ve 100% gotten bigger since his last vet appointment.

Would you remove the wheel? Or keep it?

Hello!

I'm looking for some sand recommendations for my hamster. I'm currently using Niteangel's desert sand, and although I like it, it was $33 for only 6LBS. After needing to deep clean my hamster's enclosure due to mites, I realized how little 6LBS of sand truly gets me.

So if anyone has any good quality sand recommendations that's gives me more for my buck, I'm all ears!
