Guy blasting music on the B train just threatened to assault multiple passengers

Manhattan bound B train arriving at Prospect Park at 10:52 AM, last car 3445. Asked him to lower the music, he threatened to kick my ass multiple times.

I know nothing’s gonna come from a Reddit post, but just spreading the word

Are there any monsters only packs for Diablo, Agony, Total Chaos, or Dark Souls?

I want to play a wad (not create my own. Just modifications) that has a medieval or fantasy character fighting the forces of Hell, but in biblical, ancient, or medieval times. I’m having a little bit of trouble finding what I want.

“SWITCH and Blue Eagle” — MG / YA superheroes — Available on Kindle Unlimited

https://imgur.com/a/d7QCph6

What if saving the world was easier than pleasing your father?

What if the criminal underworld had absolute control over your family?

A superhero sidekick’s and a supervillain henchman’s answers to these questions will decide the fate of the world.

Welcome to Herald City….where legends wear capes, villains never rest, and the fate of the world hangs on every battle.

Switch the Blue Eaglet is the son and teen sidekick of Blue Eagle, one of Herald City’s top superheroes. But being a sidekick isn’t all glory. Switch is tired of living in his father’s shadow, tired of his strict rules, and tired of being told he’ll never be strong enough to stand on his own.

Jasper Clemens is just another faceless villain henchman. All he wants is to get out of the criminal business. But his debts to the mob keep piling up, and he's stuck taking the riskiest jobs in order to protect his family.

When a dangerous supervillain launches her deadliest scheme yet, it’s up to Switch and Jasper to stop her. Can Switch prove to the world he’s more than just a sidekick? Does Jasper have what it takes to be a true hero?

Or is Herald City doomed?

Perfect for fans of coming-of-age superhero tales, this short novel delivers action, heart, and a fresh twist on what it really means to be a hero.

TW: Mild fantasy violence; explicit mob threats against family; family dysfunction

The digital version is available on Kindle Unlimited, and the paperback is available at multiple bookstores large and small. You can also order direct from the distributor. Any way you want to get your hands on these awesome piece of superhero literature, you can get it here.

Phantom Tollbooth was my intro to Hitchhiker’s Guide-style humor and one of my favorite children’s books

I was in elementary school when I last read The Phantom Tollbooth, so I might be misremembering a few things, but that book was my introduction to the sort of—I dunno how to really label it, but that sort of humor that The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is built on.

I feel like the sort of direct but misplaced logic, literal nature of things, and the personification or anthropomorphism of concepts we take for granted is a great introduction to absurdist humor (that was the word I was looking for!) to kids. Places like Dictionopolis and Digitopolis showing another side of words and numbers, for example.

When it comes to books, I feel like the “yeah, that makes sense, I guess” brand of absurdism is the most fun and the most thought-provoking. The Phantom Tollbooth having a co-protagonist like Tock whose clock only tocks and doesn’t tick, or the subtraction stew that only makes you hungrier make me think of the Babel Fish proving the non-existence of God or SEP (Somebody Else’s Problem) fields being the reason you think you see something out of the corner of your eye. Or the origin of Judo in Lamb: The Gospel of Biff, Christ’s Childhood Pal, where we learn that Jesus invented it as a means of peaceful self-defense, and that its name means “Way of the Jew”.

These are just my random book thoughts today. I was just thinking about it and remembering how much the Hitchhikers Guide made me think of The Phantom Tollbooth when I read it. Figured I’d share.

Help with getting Sgt Mark IV’s Inferno map to work on LitDoom

I’ve downloaded both Doom 1 and 2 WADs.

I’ve got the latest LitDoom version (0.595, I think).

I got UZDOOM.

I downloaded the Inferno map demo from Doomworld.

I still can’t get that map to load. Vanilla Doom 1 and 2 work. I can play LitDoom on the Doom 2 map, and the Knee Deep in the Dark maps work. But Inferno doesn’t.

The folder for Inferno only contained the WAD. Should there be more? What am I doing wrong?

Please help! And thanks in advance for it.

(Alternatively, if anyone can recommend other surreal, horror based Hell maps that look like HELL, I’d be grateful.)

Help with getting LitDoom working

I just downloaded GZDoom and the Doom 2 WAD. I downloaded the LitDoom 0.5 and the 0.95 with the Knee Deep in the Dark map pack (pk3 file).

Doom 2 vanilla works perfectly fine, but that’s about it. Both versions of LitDoom won’t let me fire or reload, and the later version with the nicer menu flat out doesn’t allow me to do anything at all upon picking up a weapon. I get an error message in the top right corner about an infinite weapon loop or something, but it disappears before I can finish reading. Trying to load the Knee Deep in the Dark map pack just gives me an execution error.

I am trying to play on a controller and am completely new to Doom mods. I didn’t think it would be this difficult. What am I doing wrong?

Hi folks! I need help naming a military special forces team with superpowers in a superhero world. They are an antagonistic force.

Basically, an alien race called the Dreamers that don’t tangibly exist is manipulating humanity into fighting an interstellar war for them. Under kinda-sorta mind control, a US intelligence agency creates a team of five special forces members that are granted superpowers by the Dreamers (they can transfer powers from superheroes to normal people).

While it is a superhero universe, this team isn’t a superhero team. They are a rapid assault team comparable to Navy SEALS, Green Berets, and stuff like that. They don’t wear tights and capes.

I was thinking the Sleepers, but that seems too on the nose. Twilight doesn’t roll off the tongue if I want to call them Twilight-1, Twilight-2, and so on. They are also an antagonistic force to my superhero protagonists.

What do you guys think?

Just wanted to share my book with everybody.

SWITCH and Blue Eagle: A Superhero Sidekick Novel is a short Middle Grade - Young Adult novel of about 55,000 words.

Switch the Blue Eaglet wants to be an independent superhero, but the lack of support from his father, Blue Eagle, and his unreliable powers makes this dream seem impossible.

Jasper Clemens is a villain henchman who wants to get out of the criminal underworld, but his heavy mob debts and threats to his family keep him shackled where he is.

When a dangerous villain launches her most ambitious scheme yet, Switch and Jasper are the only ones who can stand in her way.

Can Switch prove himself a true hero? Can Jasper make the right choices?

Or is Herald City doomed?

Both the digital versions and paperbacks are available from multiple retailers, all of them compiled here: https://buy.bookfunnel.com/arwdlz76pt

You’ll find that they are available from major retailers and independent bookstores alike, and the ebook is available for free download for Kindle Unlimited subscribers.
