Items were hard to loot so I put spheres on them

I'm working on looting in my new game Nederfall and I noticed it was annoyingly difficult to loot tiny items from the floor. Especially when my character was moving.

So I put spheres on some of the items that light up to about 1% opacity when your cursor is near. They're much easier to click now and I kind of like how it makes loot easier to find too.

Any thoughts?

Got sidetracked and made bunnies into pets that follow you.

Last week I added bunnies to my game to add a bit more life to it and was happy with how they looked. Pet companions has been an idea for a while but was always on the backlog. This week I couldn't resist sidetracking and decided to play around with it.

I created a simple pet system where you can attach a pet to a character and whenever the character spawns, a pet bunny will also spawn. The behavior is the same as the wild rabbit, without the fleeing, and when the distance between the player and the bunny is bigger than a few meters, the bunny will run towards the player.

Working on voice sound effects but only had a rubber duck

I am experimenting with a sound clip for every letter spoken with a slightly random pitch, kind of how games like Animal Crossing do it, and then I used a rubber duck sound effect.

I kind of like it.

Thoughts?

Added rabbits and I love how they just hop around

To add a little bit more life to my little forest level I decided to add bunnies. They wander, they graze, they run away when you get close. Nothing more to it, but I think they look adorable.

I bought the model with animations from the Unity asset store and created the logic for them to hop around and run away from you.

Outside / Inside transition. Which one looks better?

I am creating a transition for my game Nederfall when your character enters a building. I want to have more focus on the inside area and make the outside darker.

But I am not sure if I like the hard or soft edges, and a near complete dark outside or just a tiny bit darker.

Very dark or subtle dark?

Do you prefer the darker vibe or the more bright flat color style?

I am developing this game as a side project so progress is slow but over time the graphics changed quite a bit. I like the darker vibe a lot but objects were also more defined in the older version.

I'm happy with the progress.
Any advice on where I should go from here?

Finally made a gameplay teaser for my survival game Nederfall

I am working on a survival colony sim set in a fallen Netherlands and since I am working on the core mechanics I don't have much polished content yet. I finally decided to make a short teaser for my Steam page.

I'm working towards a playable demo but I hope this gives a bit of a vibe of what the game is about. The hideout building is there but still at an early state. Most of the raid gameplay is there and I have a clear vision of what my demo is going to be. Any feedback is welcome.

I'm lockpicking doors now

There's so much different kind of mechanics all coming together. Movement, looting, object interactions, skill checks, experience points, entering buildings with fading walls. But it IS coming together and that feels satisfying!

I'm just missing some sound effects now.
