Who else hit Manifest and NGHTMRE/Slander?

Manifest = peak homie fest vibes

And INCREDIBLE sets by TRIPULSE (who I’d never heard of before) and FINNUH

Pacha nyc = Brooklyn mirage is fuckin back, and at sold out there was plenty of room. It’s truly back.

Slander and Nghtmre threw down pretty hard. I will say the crowd was noticeably worse than the manifest but that’s to be expected at 5000 cap sold out pacha show. Specifically tho lots of people who were just fucking drunk as shit. But still it was super solid and i wish I stayed til the end

The “free open source kills US frontier” narrative doesn’t make sense. The cost is hosting/inference of the model itself, not the cost of weights? GLM5.2 is a big expensive model

GLM cost is quite high?

https://artificialanalysis.ai/?models=gpt-5-5%2Cclaude-opus-4-8%2Cclaude-fable-5%2Cglm-5-2%2Cgemini-3-1-pro-preview%2Cgemini-3-5-flash%2Cclaude-opus-4-6#cost-tabs

The driving factor of cost is the model itself

The price wars will be won by who designs the models to be cheapest architecturally, not the weights

Meanwhile, US Hyperscalers will make all the profits whether the model they’re selling inference for is open weights or not

What will be the best vibes for heavy dubstep — Manifest or NGHTMRE/Slander next sat?

I love manifest I’ve been 2 years in a row. Impeccable local rave vibes

However this year they’re missing a HEAVY act. There’s no shortage of dope underground bass (mersiv wreckno)

But last year they had SISTO and previously VKTM who threw the fkck down for heavy shit late night.

I know Nghtmre plays some heavy stuff but slander crybang is lame. I dunno how they b2b or what the crowd is like for those??

What is the typical person going to see slander Nghtmre? Headbanger crowd or na?

Is alphabets business story negatively affected if Gemini fails to lead coding (they’re currently actually quite behind in that domain)?

How would it affect Alphabets business if Gemini doesn’t lead coding? it’s currently very behind

Anthropic has been code first for years

OpenAI just dropped everything (Sora etc) to FULL PORT on coding models too

Google… just doesn’t seem to be taking this one that seriously? This year it seems to be spending compute on other things like AIMode for search at scale, bolstering the TPU business via cloud, etc.

after Gemini 3 pro proved GOOG could have a frontier, they haven’t done much after and appear to be making other long term bets

(sure they bought Windsurf but $2B is pennies compared to their $200B annual capex on physical infra)

Gemini is SOTA in many areas like multimodal etc but way behind agentic coding

**QUESTIONS**:

  1. does this matter?
  2. Is agentic coding gonna be a high premium business where value is captured by incremental intelligence gains? Thus they miss out?

Or will it be a race to the bottom with GLM5.2 etc

  1. What happens if it is a big market and they miss out entirely? Are any of their main businesses affected?

Finance bros been a thing forever… but when/where did the recent “west village girl” archetype come from?

I know sex and the city was a thing generations ago

But when my millennial ass moved here after school, West Village was always extremely out of reach, even among my most striver of friends who worked in finance and biglaw. 20-something girls living there were completely nonexistent

But now it’s a thing? Did it get cheaper or something or what’s going on? Influencers?

I love synchro manifest and all, but…

Can someone tell me how in the world MERSIV (who headlines red rocks) is about to play in that tiny ass room at 3 dollar bill??

Even if they move it to the outside (where the sound was aggressively mid last year), the math ain’t mathin.

For numbers: Patio capacity is 900. Main room 650. Front bar 200.

Rivals (on Hulu) is very good and under talked about. This weeks episode was next level

I knew nothing about it and picked it exclusively because David Tennant was in the thumbnail

Hot Take: Agentic Coding really just started a few months ago, and people are going batshit crazy with projections and stories

I think there’s a cognitive dissonance going on that since ChatGPT came out in 2022, the fluff is removed and ppl have an accurate view of things

But agentic coding should be viewed as its own thing. It really just started having breakout mainstream performance a few months ago via the First Mover: Claude Code.

Is this not the exact same as chatbot layer where performance will be duplicated and even expected by the frontier models and then even the next tier of 20 top Chinese / open source models?

Anthropic is not even profitable while charging ABSURD amounts for enterprise

But people are somehow assuming that pricing power will stay?

Won’t it get 100x cheaper once commoditized? If it’s not profitable now how will it be when it’s way cheaper?

Theory: agentic coding will be commoditized very soon and the only business making money will be inference providers.

Positions: Google Cloud (!) tokenomics on TPU are unmatched. if Anthropic somehow retains pricing power Google still ironically wins tho so I think it’s decently hedged

Not to be reductive but… is SaaSpocalypse this years version of 2024 goog? If so what’s the move?

Obviously not expecting to catch lightning in a bottle TWICE but the “ChatGPT killed search” GOOG trade was like once in a lifetime event and this sub was THE ONLY PLACE on the internet that was consensus bullish back then

It also seems to naive to just frame this years as similarly untrue “Claude killed SaaS!” … but is that’s what’s happening?

What’s the move?

NOW CRM WDAY?

I was watching this interview w Jensen (on Dwarkesh podcast) and he asks this question in some form

The answer Jensen gave was: “yeah well maybe TPUs are faster and cheaper for gen AI workloads, but they can’t do other stuff as well such as video games and molecular biology or mining”

While true isn’t that like… ignoring the fact that 99% of nvidias massive bull run is from gen AI workloads?

No one’s suggesting nvidia will ever be irrelevant but when they dominated gaming and mining they were a 0.5T company not a 5.0T

Am I missing something obvious here?
