I want to make orchestra pieces so im starting with learning how to make quartet which sax is one of the most common im in the middle of writing a piece its triple it based and triumphant how should i have the tenors and bari in my band we dont have any of these players so im not exposed to what they play right now the tenor carries a bass rythem and the bari is whole tones with a messure little solo i added to my piece how should i have this instead?

So im trying to write quartets. im doing a sax quartet and i need help knowing what each part should do like should soprano have melody and alto have counter then tenor and bari suport with long tones or what should i do to have it balanced???

Mordants are something i just found out about in the last 3 years and i havent found a piece with one for concert band marching band pep band or anything like that? Vavaldis winter i thought was a mordant but its not im taking about the fast trill like parts. is there a reason why we dont use mordants?

Im looking at vavaldis winter and the fast part im thinking of what it reminds me of i go and look at a old project and it reminds me of a mordant and im wondering why they are not used? Wouldnt it be cleaner to see a mordant and be like of fast up and down note. if someone could tell me why they went out of use that would be nice.

Im done with one of my pieces and im trying to write a new piece i cant write a melody ive been up for 35 hours and have spent 20 hours of this on a blank score i need help and advice i want a rythem and melody thats not just eights and quarter notes i am 14 and i struggle with melodies

So the first movement of my piece is a women widow and its autumn.

part 2 is her finally realizing winter has come but shes still in denial.

part 3 she dies from not preparing.

She comes home sees a note saying that he has signed his own death to go and fight for the union. She is in denial that hes gone and not coming back its turning into winter. She did not prepare for winter and it starts dawning on her and she knows the end is soon. She losses her mind and starts coming to her senses that this is really bad.

Movement one features a flowing arpeggio style melody with a cloying left hand. Part 2 is a triple it melodic piece showing its getting colder.

Part 3 features a ragtime to show shes losing her mind and resolves into a melodic crazy hard part.

I need help knowing if the ragtime is good for this its a really high fast ragtime. Ive put this through ai and it says its a grade 7 all around and the last movement is not done which i hope to turn this piece into a grade 9.

Im writing a piece about autumn and i need a bitter sweet almost unsettling coldness to it because its a 3 part piece about winter coming and taking it all

the reason its getting hate is because its in C# i posted it once and i had over 50 comments calling me names for putting it in C#

Yes ive tried other keys and i found this one is the best the others make it sound to happy and comfy

Am i the one in the wrong for choosing this key i would like yalls help

(edit) This post has gotten multiple down votes and im not trying to convince yall to upvote it or agree with me and i get the argument with Db but i would need to rewrite it and the only reason yall want Db is because people dont know how to sit down and learn a piece thats not easily sight readable . I am not trying to cause hate i am just explaining my reasons for this pieces key and saying my experience of getting hate.

I like composing for fun i want to go to collage for it but the only issue is that i dont know how to not make measures not just in one set of notes like i make one measure only use 4 notes that go perfectly together but i want to write fast hard parts thats not just arpeggios and i need help

i am a flute player our schools best for middle school i made all district a few times but i fell in love with the tuba my friend who graduated told me that he wants me to be his disciple on tuba ive never played brass ive practiced after school after he told me ive been playing it for a few weeks im pretty ok at it i can play our marching music and Hs peices i am becoming a freshman and i want to make a full switch because i really like it my band director is letting me take one home he doesnt let anyone bring them home and our band director told me that he thought i was our other tuba player when he heard me practicing we have 1 other tuba player and three flute players how do i convince him?

I play flute i made all district and made 14th for all state i am now a freshman ive been marching for 2 years this will be my third i just moved to this school last year and they have a tradition of going to dci and i saw it the blue devils i dont live close to California but i knew i wanted to join them no matter how bad it hurts i started learning tuba after school for 15 minutes a day and im bringing one home the issue is that i am our schools best flute and my flute director made a announcement that if i switch instruments shes moving schools and i want to make a full switch to tuba after 40 minutes of practice i can play a Bb scale i learned our marching band music from last year and im doing well but is it to late to dream of trying to get into the blue coats on Sousa i haven't marched Sousa yet i marched around our field for 2 hours to get a feel for it and i want to do anything to join a dci group do you think this would be a bad change or that i do not have enough time to try and join them?

i am a 14 year old who does not play the piano i have a talented brother who plays he asked me to make him a piece ive wrote and performed my own solos for solo and ensemble and that kind of stuff i play flute and the peice has 5 flats and it has a repetitive left hand with constant arpeggios if yall want i can reply with the sheet music in the comments its a really bad software im sorry
