I know they aren’t anything rare or crazy, but these two little miniature orchids have made me smile these last few months. They’re just those $7-10 mini’s and I’ve had them a few months now. They’re just starting to wilt, but the leaves and roots still look good to me.
I’m itching to transition my monsteras outside for some extra sunshine, but the 48° nights have me hesitant…. I haven’t gotten any new growth since fall, even with lights, so I’m trying to help them flourish. I’m in Sheboygan Wisconsin if that helps.
I have had this albo monstera cutting for a year and a half. (First pics) It was growing nicely when I got it. Potted it and got two new little leaves, then stalled all winter. Spring came around and she didn’t seem to start up again. I thought maybe she needed a new pot and potted her up. Her rootball was massive and wound around the inside like a band. Still no growth all summer and fall. I resisted the urge to mess with her by getting another albo cutting. She was a water prop, so I put her in water to acclimate. She has been throwing out leaves last two months and seems to thriving. (Last two pics) The older one jus put out a new leaf a month ago, but she doesn’t look like a thriving plant. I’m very tempted to put #1 into an identical set up to the happier one. Also, the soil looks like regular dirt but it’s actually half Happy Frog and half orchid bark. The soil just settled on top. Advice welcome.
