Allendale wedge tornado as seen by 3D radar
Strong wedge tornado which happened only hours ago near Allendale (South Carolina/US) as seen by 3D radar. This tornado - or to be precise multiple ones - formed the area on Okt. 10th 2026. Media quickly named it "Allendale wedge" as it was well documented there, however, it was stronger and more crisp before it reached the Allendale area.
I tried to show different parameters and views. The 3D mode uses an experimental tilt shift correction algorithm. This Reddit sub is specialized and above average knowledge can be expected, however, just to be clear: This 3D view and the tilt shift correction is a representation of reality. It is NOT 100% reality. It never is as long as radars use moving parts and rotate. To name the most important and impressive aspects of this tornado and what you can see in the video:
- overall impressive structure, close enough to radar to see a lot of details. Basically could be used to learn things about supercells and tornados as it presented textbook like features.
- Pronounced rotation signature (AzShear, dealiased)
- Pronounced CC drop (debris lifted up in the air)
- Cell interaction (with other storms close to this supercell) and a lot of activity in the region, the overall setup was very favourable and spawned a couple more tornadoes here and there, some undocumented
