Newb with some questions (Cargo)

Hi everyone. I have been riding my cargo for three weeks now, dropping my 9 month old off to childcare and collecting him. We stick to fields and paths and it takes about 15 mins each way. Hopefully we can move to longer rides in time.

Questions:

1 - is there a loop available to round off the front of the rack to help make it safer?

2 - What is the best centre stand option?

  1. What tyres are you guys running if you have some rough areas as well as smooth tarmac to cover?

  2. what rear rack are you running?

  3. Any tips to sharpen up the LX Shimano hydraulic discs?

Thanks : )

Anyone ride in the UK with a AUS license?

The short version: Friend had a full uk license and years of experience, moved to AUS and switched to the AUS license. He wanted use of one of my bikes while in the UK for 2 months, but the AUS license seems to cause big issues.

Has anyone managed to add a foreign license holder to a UK policy?

Do you know of any insurers that might offer cover for 1-2 weeks on a bike with an mot but not currently insured ( I have a VFR and CB500 that are currently sorn, but I could easily mot them)?

Any tips for insuring a Australian License holder while on holiday in the UK?

I have a friend coming over from Australia soon. He has a Australian license having moved out there a decade ago. Prior to this he lived in the uk and passed the full driving and motorcycle test.

While he is in the UK he would like to use a bike owned by a UK License holder and insured through a UK company. Is this possible? The cost to hire a bike is between £800 and £1200 a week. In Australia, he would be able to insure this particular vehicle for £150 and in the UK with a UK license it would be less than £400 a year.

From the research I have done, this seems like a no go. UK insurers do not seem to recognise Australian driving experience?

Please help me choose the correct brakes on an omnium.

I have been riding my cargo for a week now and love it. The only things letting it down are the lack of centre stand (easily rectified) and the brakes. At the moment it has pretty rubbish cable discs and I wish to switch to hydraulic as I love the set on my 29er.

Can anyone help me understand the difference in the various makes and how to measure up for the correct sizing? I like the look of the sram ones, but I can also see a lot of XT and XTR used sets on ebay.

Thanks for any advice. I am just back into riding and was used to rim brakes - so this is all new .

I have a 250amp mig that also runs stick really nicely. I want to start doing some fabricating in aluminium - mostly accessories for cargo push bikes, motorbikes and 4x4s.

Should I save and buy a whole tig setup, or can I get away with spooled on the mig machine? If I go for tig, what sort of features do I actually need? It is quite confusing comparing all the options.

Hi people. I just picked up a omnium to lug cargo and my child about. I am planning on making an interchangeable rack to carry goods vs child. I think the child carrier will have a roll hoop and isofix sockets for the seat I use with my son.

I am really interested in your cockpit setups, as I plan to do longer trips and come from a racing background, so am most comfy with drop bars.
