Struggling with amount of pressure

I'm new to espresso and got a Robot (regular version, no pressure gauge) about a month ago. My problem is that I can't build much pressure. In videos, people seem to press really hard to hit 9 bars, but if I pressed that hard, all the water would shoot through in about 5 seconds.

I know the usual answer is grind size, but I've tried every setting from 0 to 3 on my 1Zpresso J-Ultra, plus some coarser ones, and they all feel about the same. Around 1.7 seems best, but even then there's very little resistance. I've tried two different beans and noticed no real difference between them. Maybe I'm just overestimating how much pressure I should be feeling?

I drink black americanos and mostly enjoy what I'm making, but I'd like to get the most out of my setup. My current process:

  • 18g light roast, no preheat
  • 54g out in about 30 seconds, with very light pressure throughout
  • WDT, tamp, paper filter

Any ideas?

Need advice on graduating in 2 or 3 years (civil transfer student)

I am going to be a third year civil engineering student transferring from a community college to a university this fall.

My current course load is:
fluid mechanics
soil mechanics
structural analysis 1
computer science and engineering 1
engineering probability and statistics.

19 credits total with 2 labs.

If I postpone any of these courses, it will mean me graduating in three years instead of two years, which I would obviously prefer not to do. However, this will by far be the most difficult and high workload semester yet and probably ever for my college career. I know this is going to be a highly personal decision but wanted to hear any advice or experiences people had with similar situations. Or if anyone has experience with these specific classes can maybe shed some light on if there is overlap with in the topics covered. I think structural analysis will be my hardest class from what I’ve heard but I was pretty good at statics and mechanics and materials so I’m hoping that SA won’t be horrendous. Also, CSE might be replaced by an easier class but even if it’s not I do have CS experience already so I am hoping that will also not be too bad.

Rising junior civil engineering transfer student schedule questions

2 years at ECC, going to be coming in as a junior. Pretty much going in blind. I looked on the map and the walks between seem doable but I've only been on campus a few times. Is natural science complex to Davis hall in 10 minutes too far? Also, I'm waitlisted position number 3 for the 2 EAS230 classes, is there a good chance I can get into it at position 3? I need it as a co-requisite for Structural Analysis (24/120 open seats right now) which will be Tuesday Thursday and Fill the gap on friday making my fridays hell. Lmk what yall think and thanks for any help!

Tree branch fell while driving and dented hood in 2 spots

Yesterday a tree branch fell and dented my hood in two different spots. I haven’t reported it to insurance just wondering what my options are. I don’t really mind just living with it, but if there is a cheapish DIY option, I would probably like to do that.

Is this grade fair?

This actually happened 2 semesters ago but has been living rent free in my head since then and just wanted to get some thoughts on it. It’s not a big deal but am just curious.

It was my second statics exam and i made 2 small errors on an otherwise perfect exam that brought the grade down to an 88. It was 6 questions, best 5 were graded out of 20 no curve or extra credit problem

The first error I guess I accidentally typed 15cos(theta) into my calculator instead of 12cos(theta), it was early on in the problem so it propagated through and I got a pretty wrong answer. But the process was still correct. I got a 12/20

The second error was on a harder problem and I literally just forgot to carry the negative from the last step of the problem to the actual answer. So the number was right it was just negative. I got a 16/20

I know 88 is a fine grade, but at the time I was pretty annoyed and still think about it almost every exam.

Degrading foam like covering on most of the concrete ceilings and walls of this abandoned parking garage

It was soft to the touch and all over this parking garage. But some parts still had perfectly exposed concrete like in the first picture
