I have an emergency fund set, but am a little stuck at how much to save and for what.

People recommend to set up a sinking fund for a vacation, another one for a house, and another one for the next car. At a certain point, do any of you just move saved money into a brokerage account once it tops as a set amount?

I have very old strings on my PRS and want to replace them to play drop D metal. Which brand and gauge strings do you guys recommend? I'd like to focus on playing Mastodon and Lamb of God songs and don't want my strings too loose while I'm picking fast.
