Why steam re-checking games files every OS session

KDE - xfs

Every session of the OS, Steam checks the integrity of the game files of the installed games. I don't understand the reason, maybe it's not related to the OS, but I would like to turn it off.

Maybe someone knows what the reasons for this are and how to eliminate them?

How blacksmith buffs stones works?

There are 2 buffs in the game that can be obtained from blacksmithing: one for sharp weapons and one for blunt weapons.

But how exactly they work is not entirely clear to me. Here are the leading questions:

  1. Why if you use a scroll with a buff after upgrading a blacksmithing, its effect disappears, and if you use it before, it remains...

  2. How to understand what buff affects it by the weapon? For example, a weapon and both (blacksmith buffs) do not work on it...

Please, who can explain this clearly?

Thank you for your attention

The cursor registration point is below where the cursor is (windowed mode)

Cachy - KDE plasma - lutris

Indie game. In the window mode, the game starts with an empty space at the top (about one and a half cursors high), and the window with the game registers the cursor below the place where it is actually located, exactly at the height of this space. I tried different versions of proton - it doesn't help. In full-screen mode, everything is fine.

If someone knows what can be done, I will be glad for help, thank you

Formatting the disk for the needed file system

I need advice on formatting the disk (in xfs format).

For example, [mkfs.xfs /dev/sda], won't it create sudden problems?

Also, do I need to add [umount] before this?

And in the time of [-f]? (assuming that the disk was last used on Win)

KDE plasma also has a partition manager, but I'm more confused about it

Thx for attention

Performance on Linux

Cachyos - KDE - proton-cachy

Encountered freezes and prolonged latency (fps stable, probably not performance problems).

I tried the listed here, but it didn't help Maybe someone has already faced similar problems and/or knows how to solve them?

What is the best program for loading an OS image onto a flash drive?

The documentation suggests four options, but there are many more.

However, errors during installation from a flash drive are not uncommon.

Which program can be choosen for installing a system image to a flash drive to minimize the likelihood of problems?

Random spawn of objects and colors

Map will be more interesting if objects spawning will be random and/or color of them and interior will changes randomly

It will prolongs current maps actual and makes searching/hiding more flexible

What do you think?

What sources do you prefer to check before updating?

The best solution is to know in advance what problems an update might bring.

What resources are you using before updating?

By the way, I'm interested in updating more than just the cachy/arch system.

It's also about to update the desktop environment, individual official packages, drivers, etc.

Thank you for your attention

Suggestion: Pirate/undead attack on the player's base

It would be cool if the game would require to periodically defend the player's base from attack, while also destroying enemy ships that would be shelling the base.

I think this will make the game much more interesting, given the experience of similar games (like Valheim).

What do you think?

Limiting ports in CachyOS and assigning various permissions to directories

I'm trying to figure out good variants of the privacy settings.

I use my computer as the distribution intended (no servers or special requests).

That's why I'm asking for recommendations in two topics (if there are third-party ones, I'd be happy to read them):

  1. Limiting (leaving allowed) ports. Here's an example. Should I restrict ports 22, 80, and 443 (tcp)?

  2. Should I change access rights to specific directories, such as root?

I've studied the Arch/Cachy wiki and haven't been able to get a complete picture...

Thank you for your attention.

How does security setting work?

It was hard for me to understand the principles, but as far as I've managed, security is built on separating access levels between profiles.

Different guides focus on specific recommendations and approach the topic differently. Therefore, I'd like to ask those who understand this better:

  1. Is separating access rights between different profiles really the basis for this topic? (perhaps there are effective alternative approaches.)

  2. How many sections should access rights be divided into? Which ones should be included in each?

  3. What additional security methods should be implemented beyond passwords? Is it worth it?

If you have any additional recommendations, I'd be interested to read them, probably not only for me.

Also, if you have links to useful guides, I'd be interested too.

Thank you for your attention. Have a good day

Some progress will be deleted after release?

After game will be released (hope so), what happens with the progress? All will be deleted? Something will be? Nothing?

There are any clarifications on this point?

AOE timer by filling field

It can be more informing if time, from placing AOE (for players and mobs), to it actually deals damage will shown by filling the AOE zone

So it creates more scenarios (for example filling all arena with many AOE zones but with different timer before it make damage) and will be more informing

Also the way of filling can indicate different types of AOE, for example: filling from center/apex of AOE zone mean time before it deals damabe and filling from opposite means it's already making damage (or giving another effect, some buff/heal for example) and ends dealing it after complete filling of zone

What do you guys think of this kind of management for visual timings?
