PwC India → Onsite Opportunities in Cybersecurity?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently working with PwC India (Advisory) and have been with the firm for a little over a year. Overall, I have around 5 years of experience in Cybersecurity, primarily in VAPT, Offensive Security, Web Application Security, Network Pentesting and related security domains.

I wanted to understand the reality of onsite opportunities within PwC India for cybersecurity professionals. The current project has clients from US, EU and Australia.

  1. How common are international assignments or long-term onsite opportunities from PwC India Advisory?
  2. Are there specific regions (UK, Europe, Middle East, US, etc.) where cybersecurity professionals are more likely to get deployed?
  3. What factors typically influence selection for onsite opportunities performance, networking, certifications, project demand, internal mobility, etc.?

Additionally, I’m exploring long-term international career options. Has anyone successfully transitioned from PwC India to a direct visa-sponsored cybersecurity role abroad (UK, EU, US, Netherlands, Sweden, Ireland, etc.) while still based in India?

I’d appreciate hearing about your experiences, timelines, challenges, and any advice on improving the chances of either an internal international transfer or securing a direct visa-sponsored opportunity.

Thanks in advance!

Best card for international travel/spends? My HDFC cards failed in Europe

I recently visited my cousin in Sweden and had a layover in Poland. Before the trip, I made sure that international transactions were enabled on all my cards.

The cards I carried were:
- HDFC RuPay Debit Card
- HDFC Tata Neu Infinity RuPay Credit Card
- HDFC Mastercard Credit Card
- HDFC Millenia Diner’s Club

To my surprise, none of them worked. I tried using them at the airport in Poland and later at multiple places in Sweden, but the POS machines kept showing “Transaction Declined.”
What’s confusing is that I received SMS/email alerts from HDFC showing the transaction attempts, but when I later checked my statements, none of those transactions were actually settled or deducted.
Eventually, I had to rely on my brother’s Nordea Visa Debit Card, which worked everywhere without any issues.

This experience has made me rethink my card setup for future international trips.

For frequent international travelers here:

  1. Which cards do you personally use abroad?
  2. Is Visa generally more reliable than Mastercard/RuPay internationally?
  3. Should I replace my current cards with Visa variants?
  4. Which cards offer the lowest forex markup fees?
  5. Are there any cards with 0% or near-0% forex markup that are actually worth getting?
  6. What cards give good rewards/cashback on international spends?
  7. Do you carry multiple cards from different banks as a backup?
  8. Any recommendations for someone traveling to Europe 1-2 times a year?

Would love to hear real-world experiences, especially from people who have used their cards across Europe.

Thanks!

Is it realistic to get a cybersecurity job with visa sponsorship in The Netherlands from India?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for honest advice from people who are working in Netherlands or have moved there for IT/cybersecurity roles.

A bit about me:

* Based in India
* ~5 years of experience in Cybersecurity
* Currently working in a Big 4 company
* Experience in penetration testing (web, network, infrastructure) and OT/ICS security
* Familiar with SCADA, PLCs, HMIs and protocols like Modbus, ENIP, Siemens S7
* CEH certified and planning to complete OSCP by end of this year
* Strong interest in Pentesting, Red Teaming, Cloud Security, IAM, OT Security, and AI Security

I’ve been actively applying for cybersecurity roles in The Netherlands but I mostly receive generic rejection emails or no response.

I wanted to ask:

* How realistic is it to get a visa-sponsored cybersecurity job in The Netherlands directly from India today?
* Is it common for companies to sponsor candidates from outside the EU in security roles?
* What are the most effective ways to find these jobs (LinkedIn, referrals, specific companies, recruiters, etc.)?
* Are certain domains like Cloud Security, IAM, or Security Engineering easier to get sponsored for compared to Pentesting/Red Teaming?
* Is learning Dutch mandatory for cybersecurity roles, or is English enough in most companies?

I’d really appreciate insights from anyone who has gone through this process or is currently working in cybersecurity space.

Thanks in advance!

Best Cybersecurity Path to Move from India to Sweden/Europe?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some honest career advice from people working in cybersecurity, especially those in Europe.

A bit about me:

* Based in India
* 5 years of Cybersecurity experience
* Currently working at a Big 4
* Experience in Web, Mobile, API, Network, Infrastructure and OT/ICS Security Assessments
* Worked with PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, and protocols like Modbus, EtherNet/IP (ENIP), and Siemens S7
* CEH certified and planning to complete OSCP by the end of this year
* Interested in Pentesting, Red Teaming, Active Directory Security and AI Security Testing

With AI becoming increasingly capable in areas such as vulnerability discovery, code review, reconnaissance, and report generation, I’m wondering how the offensive security landscape will evolve over the next 5–10 years.

A few questions:

  1. Do you think Pentesting and Red Teaming will continue to grow, or will AI significantly reduce demand for these roles?

  2. If your long-term goal was to move to Europe (especially Sweden or the Netherlands), would you continue specializing in Pentesting/Red Teaming,m or pivot towards domains such as:
    * Application Security
    * Cloud Security / Cloud Security Architect
    * IAM (Identity & Access Management)
    * Detection Engineering
    * Security Engineering
    * OT/ICS Security
    * AI Security
    * DevSecOps

  3. Which cybersecurity domains currently have the strongest demand and visa sponsorship opportunities in countries like Sweden, Netherlands, Norway, or Denmark?

  4. How realistic is it today to secure a visa-sponsored cybersecurity role directly from India? Has the market become significantly harder compared to a few years ago?

  5. For those already working in Sweden or the Netherlands:
    * Where do you usually find cybersecurity jobs?
    * Which companies are actively sponsoring international candidates?
    * Is learning Swedish/Dutch important for security roles, or is English generally sufficient?

I’d really appreciate insights from hiring managers, senior security professionals, or anyone who has successfully relocated from India to Europe.

Thanks in advance!

Automatic SUV owners, how do you reduce brake pad wear in traffic?

I own an XUV700 automatic and during the 3rd service (20,000 km running), the service center recommended front brake pad replacement.

They showed me the pads and they honestly do look pretty worn out already.

Wanted to ask:

- Is it normal for brake pads to wear out this early on an automatic SUV?
- How long did your brake pads last?
- Any tips to reduce brake wear, especially in city traffic?

I mostly drive in NCR traffic, so there’s a lot of stop-go usage. Trying to understand whether this is expected wear or if my driving style is causing faster wear.

Also, any suggestions for extending brake pad life on automatics would help.
