Struggling with baby starting nursery

My baby has his first settling in session tomorrow at nursery, and I feel a massive sense of loss.

I feel like an era is ending and I am devastated. I see mum's with newborns and I am so jealous, wishing I could go back and do it all over again.

We have had the best maternity leave - super sociable and we go out loads.

Stupidly, I am excited for him to go to nursery! He is very confident and independent. For example when we go to playgroups he goes and plays on his own he doesn't really come near me. I think he will love nursery, and if he doesn't initially he will definitely grow to love it!

I feel like I was so fixated on his transition to nursery and settling in, I forgot about my own. As stupid as it sounds, I feel like I am losing part of myself by him going to nursery.

Is anyone able to offer some reassurance?

What clothes do I actually need to buy for nursery?

Hi everyone

My little girl will be starting nursery in September, she will be 13 months old.

I was wondering What clothes do I actually need to buy for nursery? I'm a bit overwhelmed with choices!

I have been looking at the asda multi packs of tops and leggings, are these a good option?

For those who have babies in nursery, what clothes do they wear and what do you send in with them?

TIA :-)

Pushchair recommendations

Hello :-)

I have the bababing raffi 2 travel system, my little girl is nearly 1 so obviously in the seat and is forward facing all the time now.

I have really loved the raffi but I am now starting to find it a bit bulky and heavy getting it in and out the car! And now she's getting bigger it's generally a bit heavier pushing her.

What are people's experiences switching to a lightweight pushchair? Did you regret buying one?

Any recommendations? I don't need one that goes on a plane, I would like one with 2 big wheels for when we go on our walks so it can handle uneven paths etc. I've seen the joie litetrax and a kinder craft one on Amazon. Any other recommendations would be welcome! :-)

What's in your 1 year olds changing bag?

Hi everyone :-)

My baby girl will turn 1 in a few weeks... That's a year of lugging round my big old changing bag! I do love my changing bag (a bababing rucksack style changing bag), but I would love to downsize so I don't feel like I'm taking as much out!

What's in your 1 year olds changing bag? How can I downsize, or are you still carrying around as much as you were when they were younger?

Thank you :-)

Bottle weaning advice please

I'm looking for some advice about weaning my nearly 1 year old

She will be 1 in 3 weeks time (ahh). Her current feeding schedule is:

530/6am - wake up and 7oz bottle, has all of it

730am - breakfast

11/1130am - 7oz bottle, has all of it

1230 - lunch

430/5 - dinner

630/7 - bedtime 8-9oz bottle

I feel very aware that as we approach 1 I need to cut down another bottle, probably the 11am one as they're not supposed to have formula at 1. I think a lot of babies have milk morning and evening though so happy to continue with that.

My issue is that she is drinking all of the 11am bottle so I feel bad taking it away!

Does anyone have any advice on how to wean this bottle, or even if I should if she is drinking all of it?

Also any timelines out there of how your baby weaned off their bottle would be interesting.

Thank you in advance :-)

Weaning advice

Hi everyone

We had our 10 month review today with the HV.

We were talking about feeding. My baby girl has 4 6-8oz bottles of formula a day, and has 3 meals a day. Meals are mostly BLW but in the mornings I tend to feed her some porridge or yoghurt.

The HV said that at this age it should be more like 3 7oz bottles.

I was wondering if anyone has any advice on making this transition? Should I reduce the amount in each bottle until we've phased it out?

Baby girl is 91st centile for height and 75th for weight and is hitting milestones, not sure if that's relevant!

Thank you :-)

Reassurance about rocking 10 month old to sleep

Hello :-) this is my first time posting in this sub so hope this is okay to post!

From about 6mo to now (10mo) my baby girl has been good at being put down in her cot awake and then we sit with her and pat her chest/stroke her nose until she falls asleep and then we leave the room.

For the last couple of weeks she has refused to do this and now has to be rocked/cuddled. I try and put her in her cot awake but she just thrashes around and as soon as I pick her up she shuts her eyes and nuzzles in. It's so sweet really.

I'm torn between breaking a 'good habit' and leaning into rocking/cuddling along the vein of everything is just a phase.

How are we all getting our 10 month olds to sleep? Do you think there is anything wrong with that I'm doing, is she too old for this kind of hands on help?

Thank you in advance :-) please be kind, I was previously berated in the sleep training sub for my method described above and then banned completely when I questioned this so I am apprehensive asking for advice about sleep now!

How to get baby waking up at a normal time again

My 9 month old has always been 530/6 riser which I don't mind. We went on holiday to spain last week and she slept well however since returning she's waking at 430 and it's not always possible to get her back to sleep. Any suggestions how we can return to her normal wake up time?

Reassurance needed about travelling!

Hello! We are going on holiday and I need some reassurance. I am looking forward to it but also very anxious about sleep!

Our 9MO isn't sleeping well currently anyway (regression, teething, learning to crawl) so part of me is like I can't get much worse haha.

But I can't help but feel nervous! How did your babies sleep when on holiday? We are staying with relatives who have a travel cot. Did your babies sleep well in that? If it's horrific I will co sleep but then I'm nervous about her rolling off the bed!

I think I just need to go with the flow and accept our fate haha. But any reassurance/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Mam bottle teats advice

Hi everyone

My 9 month old is still using size 2 teats on her bottles. She's been fussing on her bottles for a while and it's literally only just occurred to me it's because the flow could be too slow, I feel so bad!

So I think maybe I could try a next size up but I see there is size 3 and also a size X ?

If you're using mam bottles what age did your babies move up and what is the difference between 3 and X?

Thank you

Hi everyone

My 9 month old currently has 4 bottles a day, drinks approx 6oz for the first 3 bottles and 8oz for the bedtime bottle. She also has solids - breakfast and dinner - where she eats well. We do a mixture of BLW and spoon feeding.

I have noticed over the last couple of weeks she is more fussy when having her milk and it can be quite a battle getting her to have it - not so much the morning and the bedtime one but definitely the middle 2, almost like the isn't quite hungry enough for it.

I am wondering whether I should drop the 2nd bottle of the day (which is usually around 11/1130) and give her lunch instead (so she starts having 3 meals a day), and then 3 bottles a day.

When did you know your baby was ready to drop a bottle in favour of solids?

Hey everyone

We have had a travel system for baby which I love. Baby is now obviously in the seat part rather than the bassinet, and we still use the car seat it came with. It's a great pram.

I've had a few people ask me if/when I will buy a lightweight stroller as it will be easier than what we've currently got.

Just wondered if/when you stopped using your travel system pushchair and brought a lightweight pushchair, and what were your reasons and how old was your Lol when you did this?

I'm just wondering when it's normal to expect some consistency with sleep! My 8.5 month old is generally a good sleeper, we have a few nights where she'll sleep through, a few nights where she'll wake up once and then nights where she can wake up anywhere up to 5 times! I know it's just a baby thing and she will sleep through eventually, but just curious to know when sleep got more consistent for you?
