The greatest battle of our generation isn't on a battlefield. It's in our pockets.

I don't think social media is evil. I've laughed because of it, learned from it, and stayed connected because of it.

The problem is when I open Instagram for "2 minutes" and somehow it's 45.

That happened to me more times than I'd like to admit.

Eventually, I realized I wasn't making the decision anymore. The algorithm was making it for me.

I'm still figuring out how to fight that.

this "doing 20 push ups to open instagram" app might fix it?

The real Sirens aren't in The Odyssey. They're in your pocket.

In The Odyssey, the Sirens didn't chase sailors.

They just sat there and sang.

People destroyed themselves trying to get closer.

Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube work the same way.

They're not forcing you to open them.

They're just really, really good at making you want to.

So I built something that adds friction between the impulse and the reward.

it asks you

"Is Instagram worth 20 push-ups?"

Sometimes the answer is yes.

Most of the time... it isn't.

That's the entire idea behind ScrollFit.

I bet my app can reduce your Instagram usage in one week.

Rules:

  • First 20 participants only.
  • Android only.
  • You must share a screenshot of your 7-day average before starting.
  • Use ScrollFit as intended for the full 7 days (don't uninstall, disable permissions, or bypass the app).
  • Keep Instagram selected as a protected app throughout the challenge.
  • After 7 days, share your updated screen-time screenshot.
  • If your average Instagram screen time hasn't decreased at all

I'm not claiming this app is for everyone.

I'm building it for people who've already tried Screen Time, timers, Focus Mode, or app blockers and still end up doomscrolling.

If you think it won't work, take the challenge and prove me wrong.

Why are we okay with paying for screen time using hours... but not 20 push-ups?

  1. We spend hours earning money.
  2. Then we spend money buying phones.
  3. Then we spend hours giving attention away for free.

That loop felt broken to me.

  • So I made a rule: I built an app where Instagram, YouTube, games, etc. stay locked until you earn screen time by doing push-ups or squats.

>Entertainment should cost movement.

  • If I want 15 minutes of Instagram, I earn it first.
  • Weirdly, I scroll less now and exercise more.

I'm curious whether this would motivate other people or just annoy them.

try it out, App name Scrollfit

app called Scrollfit – you pick which apps are destroying your life, set an exercise … it WILL NOT let you open them until you move

  • You pick the apps that are ruining your focus (Instagram, YouTube, games, etc.)
  • ScrollFit blocks them completely.
  • Every time you try to open one, it asks for push‑ups or squats and uses your camera + pose detection to count real reps.
  • Do the reps → get a limited window of app time. No reps = no scrolling
  • People have actually used it now (1K+ downloads), and I want brutal feedback from folks who are also trying to fix their habits.
