Rare breed pork

Has anyone any experience of rare breed pork? I have a friend who has got really into pig breeding and he goes for rare breed pigs. He says they taste a lot better because they grow slower than the ones normally raised for meat in the UK. Unfortunately he lives in Yorkshire and I am down near London so I havent tried any.

Sassed by my 2 year old

My 2 year old is a source of a lot of amusement as she has recently discovered Sassing daddy!

She was playing up in a restaurant, nothing really serious but I did tell her to stop shouting and play with her crayons or toys that we brought. I put her on my knee and said "daddy is not happy!" She replied "dont worry daddy, your food will come soon"!

I think i have a lot more of this to come as she gets older.

Changing technology in the middle ages

I was thinking about how I work in IT and payroll and honestly, even though my dad used to do a similar job, he is now 78 and the industry has changed so much its unrecognisable to him. I was wondering, has technology and practices always moved that fast?

So if you took a blacksmith or farmer from the 1500s and dropped them into a forge or farm in 1600, would it be a massive technological shock? Would they be able to use the forge or farm to produce something useful?

My dad has been out of accounting and payroll for about 15 years and if you put him in front of a modern system, his experience wont help him, you arent getting anything useful!

Toddler behaviour getting really nasty

Need some advice here as we are really struggling with our daughters behaviour. She will turn 3 in about 2 months and she has always been a sweet little girl and is an only child.

She has recently started hitting. Slapping, kicking, she started headbutting last week! She tends to get me more often, I think because I play physically with her more than mummy does. This is getting out of hand, she headbutted her Grandad yesterday for no good reason. When we ask her why she says she wanted to.

What can we do about it? Its starting to really get both of us down. I certainly feel rubbish as a father because I dont want to get on the floor and play with her because I dont want a headbutt or a slap!

Looking for advice on my first proper management role

I start what can probably be described as my first proper management role in about 6 weeks and would love some advice.

So the context is, i worked for a large corporate software company as an Implementation consultant. I was doing well there but wanted management. They were expanding but scaling back their implementation department and offloading it to partner companies. So about a year ago I left and joined a small partner company, explaining I wanted management and leadership which was promised to me. After 7 months it became clear they had no intention of giving me any kind of leadership and were just telling me nice things to get me to join because they wanted my experience which is not easy to get. I do manage one guy who was on a final warning for performance when I joined and who they really thought they were going to get rid of quickly. I turned him around which rather surprised everyone but still, management was already promised to another consultant before I joined.

I have since resigned and am going to a competitor. I have explained exactly what I want and what has happened previously. He said his team is small but he wants to grow and they are inexperienced so he wants me to teach them. Fantastic! Exactly what I wanted. And I know the person i will report in to, she is a good leader. I am after some tips as to how to make a success of this.

Young people's view on old films

I was thinking about when I (42) was a youngster, sometimes my dad would put on a film from when he was a young man and I could tell instantly it was an old film. The clothes were a giveaway, everyone seemed strangely smartly dressed, the acting style seemed very wooden, the young people all looked very middle aged and of course, the accents were not as varied because there was a few set ways of speaking on camera.

I was thinking, my little one is 2 and when in a few years, I put on films that were made when I was in my 20s, what do you think she would pick out as making it a very old movie?

Toddler stuck up for me! Rather proud

This is really just a bit of a chuckle but this morning (friday) my wife is off work as she works at compressed week and something happened that really annoyed her at work so she was logged in with our 2 year old on her lap putting out a fire. I went downstairs (home worker) and found her stressed and she was a bit snappy to me.

I have posted on here before about our little one sometimes hitting, being bossy and generally not being particularly kind. We have been telling her at length to be kind and nice to everyone.

She got up from her colouring, trotted over, faced down my wife and told her to "be kind to daddy!" Didn't stop my wife still being a bit snappy and honestly, I know my daughter is still going to give me a telling off tonight for whatever made up thing she thinks of but I did think it was funny. (Retreated to my office before laughing though, I am proud, not stupid!)

2 and a half year old slaps

I am just after any tips about how to stop my 2 year old slapping. She really only does it to me (dad). She will occasionally slap my wife but I havent heard of her doing it to other children at the childminder.

She doesnt do it always out of frustration although she will do sometimes. She tends to do it randomly, she will come to me for a cuddle and slap me in the face. I tell her its naughty and it hurts daddy and she just does it again.

Swapping hands while playing

Has anyone played someone who swaps hands successfully? I honestly wouldnt be able to do it but there is a player at my club who cant do a proper backhand due to an injury so he swaps the racquet to his left hand and digs shots out of the back left hand corner. He doesnt tend to get a lot of power but does really accurate straight drives with them, really close to the wall.

I cant quite work out why this is so hard to play but its really hard to deal with.

Hi all. Just wondering if anyone has any tips. My daughter is 2 and a half, she poos and leaks quite a bit in her cot at night. She is fully potty trained otherwise.

As I understand it, this isnt unusual, the issue is, she is tiny, 2nd centile of size. So the only nappies that fit her are actually still newborn ones, size 3. But she eats and produces like a normal toddler which does burst a newborn nappy. Does anyone have any suggestions about what we could put her in at night?
