My Journey

My Journey

I started back in April. Each photo is in chronological order, however, I can never get it consistently. Any tips to improve?

MR01 impressions after two weeks

The way this watch plays with the light is truly amazing. It looks just a little different every time I look at it, but is still legible every time.

Because of this, it is a watch that’s best enjoyed in the daylight. No lume makes it a difficult all-rounder, but that’s not what you’re getting anyways.

I’ve already gone through a tube of polywatch just to keep it looking new. I feel like I’m holding a newborn baby every time I put it on. Every time I feel a bump on it, my heart stops thinking that I finally cracked the crystal. I knew that this would be the experience, but the mental load is more than I expected, and makes the watch less fun to wear all the time. Day by day I’m slowly getting over it.

I know it’s only been two weeks, but I’m extremely pleased with the movement. It’s a joy to wind, and keeps bang on time with a good power reserve. Is also very quiet - I can only hear it tick if the room is dead quiet and the watch is right next to my head.

Overall, very happy with this thing. It brings me a lot of joy, and I would absolutely recommend to someone looking for a dress watch to wear from time to time.

What to do about scratched Crystal on an MRO1?

So I knew this would happen eventually, but not this soon! I’ve owned this watch for maybe 10 days, and have already gotten a nasty scratch on the headline crystal.

I’m on vacation and left my polywatch at home. Can anyone recommend some DIY at home remedies?

There are only two "tool" watches. Maybe none at all. Everything else is just jewelry.

Tool (noun): a handheld device that aids in accomplishing a task.

There are of course some tasks that require a wristwatch. It is useful to have the time, a stopwatch, an alarm, a heart monitor, etc. on your wrist while you need your hands free. This however can be accomplished with the following:

  1. A digital casio or Timex <$100

or

  1. A smartwatch (you can get a Garmin for <$300)

Everything else, you are not buying for a feature or function that you "need". You are buying a brand, an aesthetic, or something that looks cool or has a cool history/significance. Which is totally awesome! I love buying jewelry, I wear it all the time.

I have seen the following watches be described as "tool watches": Rolex Submariner, IWC Pilot, Omega Speedmaster. Is that not just insane? The watches I listed in my previous example are more durable, far more cost effective, and do everything these watches do but better(except maybe diving or space exploration, but you wouldn't even use a wristwatch for those activities that you aren't ever doing anyway!)

I just think we should do away with the word "tool" when we talk about wristwatches entirely. I genuinely hope I can be proven wrong.

My MR finally arrived! First impressions

Just unboxed the newest member of the family an hour ago. I’m so geeked out over this watch. It’s the tiniest little thing when it sits in the box, but on my 7” wrist, it feels huge. Very pleased with the movement so far - running great and very quiet, unlike the reviews. Kind of wish I didn’t go with navy blue strap. It does feel good, but I already want to see it with brown or pearlon. I’m very pleased with the quick release and 20mm lug width, so swapping shouldn’t be an issue. Can’t wait to try all the new straps. So happy to finally add something to this sub!

Question - International Delivery

Hello All! Super excited soon-to-be owner of an MR01 Salmon dial. I’m having it shipped it my address in the USA

I pulled the trigger a week and a half ago. Since then, DHL has made me fill and submit a “watch and clock” form that needs to be submitted for approval of US customs. Since submitting the form nearly a week ago, I have yet to hear anything on its progress.

Is there anyone else who has gone through this experience? How long did it take you? Was DHL or Baltic support at all helpful? I know that a week and a half isn’t that long in retrospect, but I really wish there was more transparency about this process.
