I put in a strangler fig and firebush on the weekend. Today I added red stopper and a scorpion’s tail. I am thinking of adding 2-3 plants a week until whenever… first area is like 2500 sqf. Working on aggregating core plants like stoppers and wild coffee.

Would love any feedback.

Started a small guerrilla restoration project in a disturbed Rockland hammock area in Miami.

The idea is simple:
– Document what’s already here (native + non-native)
– Gradually introduce true native hammock species
– Let it evolve with minimal intervention

I’m tracking everything on iNaturalist so it’s not just random planting — it’s actually building a record over time.

If you’re into native plants, restoration, or just want to get your hands dirty, feel free to contribute. Seeds, cuttings, or small plants of true South Florida natives are welcome. Think along the lines of wild coffee, pigeon plum, stopper species, etc.

Not trying to turn it into landscaping — the goal is habitat, not aesthetics.

If you’re interested, DM me and I’ll share the general area.
