Harley and Yarnaby! The weirdest part of this game in my opinion, let's get into it! (God this is almost a month late and so damn small).

Please don’t kill me tot making one of the fan favorite duos a small part of the AU. I’m mad at myself too 🥲👍.

And before anyone asks, my AU is simple, some of the bigger experiments (like Ms. Delight, Mommy, Kissy and Huggy) were former employees who broke the rules or found out something they shouldn’t have, after Rowan and some others were killed, Leith realized just how inefficient the killing was since most of the toys worked with the kids or under and couldn’t work with maintenance or something, so, they decided to turn some employees into toys.

Since we don't know anything about human Yarnaby other than his personality, I gave him a design and added on to his personality to fit this version of him.

Human Doctor (aka Harley Sawyer) was a child prodigy, even in the Young Geniuses program set by Elliot Ludwig, he saw Elliot as a father figure, he felt that he could be himself around him, talk about his fantasies, how he viewed science and the other kids in the program were "childish" and how they didn't know how to work with science the way he did. Harley also lacked empathy, humility, and emotions. He was obsessed with the idea that science as a way to progress rather than to help humanity. From that day, he vowed to never show emotions again, since it was emotions that mad Elliot remove him from the Young Geniuses program. Years later, Harley became an esteemed neurosurgeon, he was arrogant in his abilities and was cold to everyone around him, he had finally blocked out all of his emotions. When Leith contacted him about helping the company since Elliot was no longer in charge, Harley agreed, knowing that this was what he needed to achieve the full potential of science.

Human Yarnaby (aka Quinn Navidson) was Harley's assistant, a man whose entire job was to remind Harley what to do and when to do it, along with making sure his calendar was exactly how Harley wanted it. Quinn was peculiar as a child, ripping off the heads of toys and swapping them, wanting to make the toys "prettier" for a "more beautiful world". He was also incredibly shy, and loyal. Incredibly loyal. He would listen to anyone who he decided was worth it - which was almost every bad influence around him - and would follow them around like a lost puppy. When he joined Playtime Co. he was over the moon and was given the job of a temporary assistant to one of the scientists while his old assistant was on maternity leave. Everyone had thought that Quinn wouldn't survive a day, especially since he worked with the people responsible for the BBI, but to everyone's shock, he wasn't even the least bit weirded out by all the blood and what the scientists were doing. He saw it as the beautiful world he had always dreamed of when he was a child, the one where the toys he had swapped the heads of were going. There was even a time when he wanted to watch a surgery happen, it wasn't even a random kid he never met knew existed, it was one of his fellow employees, one that would become experiment 1026. And yet, he showed no remorse, just pure excitement. There was even talk between Leith and Eddie about having Quinn put through medical school so he could become one of the doctors preforming the surgeries, but they decided against since the words "experiment" and "surgery" would have him jumping up and down in pure joy and excitement. It was more than clear that Quinn had the intelligence needed to become one of the surgeons to preform the surgeries, but had the mental capacity of a child.

On a random Tuesday in 1990, Harley was introduced to Quinn, he was told that Quinn was his new assistant, Harley all but scoffed at this overly expressive and joyful man. But Leith assured him that Quinn was worth it, and that he was. Quinn took detailed notes of everything Harley said, even if it was just a quick mumble. Quinn kept a brown notebook with Harley's todo list, reminders, and everything he needed, he kept it with him at all times. All in an effort to get Harley to acknowledge him as useful. After all, Harley was one of the very few people Quinn looked up to, he followed Harley around everywhere, unless Harley directly told him to leave, then he would, otherwise he would follow him around like a lost puppy. Even on confidential meetings, Quinn would wait outside of the door, listening and writing down everything he heard, just incase Harley needed it. Harley did admit that Quinn was good at his job, but he would die before showing any genuine emotion to the boy, Harley had blocked out all of his emotions long ago, and this random assistant wouldn't be the one to bring them out. But he couldn't deny that the boy could be useful for one thing.

One day in August, Harley called on Quinn to an empty room. Quinn, being the sweetheart that he was, followed Harley excitedly, when they entered the empty room, Harley put his hand on Quinn's shoulder and told him that he had a "special task" to be done. Quinn was overly eager to do the task and asked Harley what it was, Harley simply told him that he was going to find out soon enough but he should head home for now. Quinn was over the moon and couldn't sleep the entire night while waiting for Harley to tell him what his special task was.

The next day, Harley pulled Quinn aside into a conditioning room, when Quinn asked what was happening, Harley simply told him that he was useful, but not in this state. He then put on a gas mask and Poppy Gas started to come out of the vents, knocking Quinn unconscious.

When Quinn awoke as Yarnaby, he didn't know anything, but once his eyes landed on Harley, he jumped at the window and started clawing at it, trying to reach him. Harley was pleased with the results and told the other scientists that he was the only one who could interact with Yarnaby outside of experiments, he was to be kept inside his cell permanently. The other scientists couldn't argue and just nodded, some even had sympathy for the poor soul that now inhabited Yaranby.

When Harley finally grew bored of Yarnaby, he told everyone that he was going to work on other experiments and to just make sure that Yarnaby was kept alive for the future. The scientists nodded and kept Yarnaby alive for as long as they could while he was depressed, that was until the HoJ hit.

When the HoJ hit, Harley went back to Yarnaby using one of his robots and saw him, Yarnaby didn't know who Harley was, but when Harley started talking in that deep voice of his, Yarnaby started banging on the glass, trying to get out and see his master. Harley let him out and told Yarnaby that his job was to protect him. Yarnaby, not understanding what Harley was talking about, nodded eagerly and started following him around like when the two were human.

Questions that were answered:

Q: Did Theo grow up in PlayCare like Dr. Newman did?

A: No, he was an employee who so happened to meet the Prototype while getting ready to leave.

Q: Are the Prototype and Poppy adults too?

A: No, they are still children. Some of the toys are still children while the bigger main ones (minus Doey and a few others) are adults.

Q: Do some of the younger toys hold any resentment and hate towards the adult ones?

A: Yes and no. The toys in Safe Haven like Kissy and DogDay since they help but are either afraid or hate CatNap and Huggy. Same thing goes for the toys under the Prototype.

Q: About Florina's bigger body? Anything you can say about her at the moment, or are you saving that for later on?

A: I'll say for now that she was a toy in Safe Haven, helping Doey whenever possible. When Poppy was put into her case, she told Doey she was going to find her and spent her time in the Game Station and Playcare tying to find her, she never went up to the first floor since she was afraid of Huggy eating her alive or taking her to the Prototype. She's still alive, and even helps the Player (in my Au, an OC named Mike) around the factory whenever possible. She doesn't remember anything from her human years, only that she knew someone who loved her very much. I won't say anything else, I do plan on making some skits or posts from every chapter once I finish mapping out and explaining my AU here. It'll take some time though.

Q: Do you ship DogNap or Theo and Arthur?

A: Yes and no. I don't ship my own OCs, but I do ship the characters, mainly as friends, but I do sometimes see versions of them as lovers. But I do not ship my OCs, much to my friends' disappointment. Maybe in the future, but as of now, it's highly unlikely.
