Accomodations in the Workplace

Hi,

Does anyone know who can help me advocate for my need for accommodations in the workplace?

And how to define reasonable accommodations. I work in a lab and am not allowed to wear headphones or flexible working hours.

How do i advocate for what are reasonable accommodations?

Seems accommodations primarily focus on accommodating the workplace and not the individual with diagnosed disability and highlighted need for personal accommodations?

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Accomodations

Hi All,

What do people do when they don't receive accommodations from the place of work?

What type of accommodations do people find useful at work.

Thanks for sharing.

Interests in Work

Hi all,

What are the specific things people with asd enjoy in their line of work and what things do they not enjoy?

Can be anything from types of interactions with people, types of tasks, environment, types of skills, depths of focus or genuine interests in the line of work, anything at all. Would love to learn about specifics for people asd with regards to work

Is the meaning of your job important or is it just work?

Trying to start a new chapter and looking for some level of guidance to best suit me as a newly diagnosed asd level 1, M 28. Thank you for sharing anything at all.

Hey all,

What kind of jobs have you found engaging/interesting and manageable as a level 1 asd? I have a degree in physiology and worked a few years in a lab with medical device design before dropping out of a phd. Would say im a science head, but found working in a lab environment difficult

Any insight/experience with work, creativity all around any kind of profession suited to asd would be very helpful. Love to know where the asd community excel or suffer with regard to profession. Thank you very much

Hi,

where do people go for therapeutic treatment for high functioning autism with co-occuring treatment resistant depression and anxiety. Long history of psychiatric medications (duloxitine, sertaline, buproprion, mirtazapine and prior some thc/hhc use as coping mechanism (found this most effective but has been labelled as addiction without further explanation). Where can you go to get help as an autistic Irish person seeking treatment for primarily depression?

Thank you.

Hi guys,

High functioning, Low support needs autistic male, 28 years old. Wondering has anyone tried micro dosing psychedelics for autism and co-occuring anxiety and depression?

Ive found thc to be most effective short term and little reliable success from psychiatric meds : 10 years sertalime/duloxitine, shorter times periods on wellbutrin 150xl, mirtazapine (current). Exercise and keto diet also very helpful. Used hhc (weaker cannabanoid) daily for years while doing a phd, helped with concentration freeing me from social anxiety and hyperarousal incapacitating states at work. Also lifted my mood and motivation very effectively but its not legal in my country which i found created a lot of anxiety. Very interested in psychedelics, although minimal experience tried twice when younger hopeful for the potential therapeutic benefits. Looking to targer rigid thought patterns and beahviours, depressive state, social anxiety and addictive behaviours. Also suspect addiction coping mechanisms arose while taking ssris and the potential link there. Quite pessimistic about long term therapeutic benefit of psychiatric medications.

Any advice or help regarding personal asd + therapy experiences and locations for best therapy, cant find expert asd treatment in ireland (home country) so hoping for advice for treatment facilities outside of ireland.

Thank you very much for any advice or personal insight.
