Intel cybersecurity interview — 2 hours, mainly technical?

How do you guys prepare for a 2-hour Intel cybersecurity interview? Is it mainly technical, or is there a mix of technical + behavioral/project questions?
What topics should I focus on? Any advice would be appreciated!

Full student loan or just what I need?

Hi everyone,
I’m an international student going to Canada. If I’m approved for a student loan, is it better to take the full amount or just borrow what I actually need?
Are there any risks or disadvantages to taking only part of the approved loan, or is borrowing less generally the smarter option?
Thanks!

Is it common to get unexpected interview calls?

I got an unexpected call today, and they immediately started asking about my experience with tools and projects. I was outside and totally unprepared, so I don’t think I did well even though I knew the answers.
Is this common? Has anyone else experienced surprise screening calls? Did it affect your chances?

Retro Studios Technology Engineer interview - recruiter phone screen advice?

Hi everyone,
I have a recruiter phone screen for a Technology Engineer role at Retro Studios next week.
I’m a Cybersecurity student with several hands-on IT and security projects, but no internship experience yet. If anyone has interviewed for this role (or a similar IT position at Retro Studios), I’d love to hear what the recruiter focused on and any tips for preparing.
Thanks!

[For hire] Entry-level Cybersecurity Graduate | SOC Analyst / Security Analyst / Security Automation

Hi everyone,

I’m a recent B.S. Computer Science graduate with a cybersecurity focus, based in Texas, and I’m looking for an entry-level cybersecurity role.

I’m mainly targeting roles such as SOC Analyst, Junior Security Analyst, Security Operations Analyst, Threat Hunting Analyst, Cloud Security/IAM Analyst, or security automation roles.

My experience is mostly hands-on projects and labs. I’ve worked with Python, JavaScript, PowerShell, Bash, SQL, Regex, Splunk, Sysmon, Wireshark, YARA, MITRE ATT&CK, VirusTotal API, AWS CloudTrail, GuardDuty, IAM, Docker, REST APIs, Claude API, Whisper API, Twilio, and Ollama.

Some projects I’ve worked on include:
- Built a human-in-the-loop incident pipeline at HackMIT 2025 using Claude API, Twilio, and Whisper APIs.
- Created Splunk/Sysmon threat-hunting labs mapped to MITRE ATT&CK.
- Automated AWS CloudTrail alert triage with PowerShell and LLM-assisted scoring.
- Built phishing triage workflows using Python, Ollama, VirusTotal API, and custom regex logic.
- Worked on blockchain-based log integrity verification for simulated SIEM events.

I’m especially interested in roles where I can work on alert triage, detection, automation, cloud security, IAM, or security operations.

I’m open to full-time roles, internships, contract roles, remote/hybrid/on-site opportunities in Texas, and referrals. I’d be happy to share my resume, GitHub, and more project details privately.

Thanks in advance for any leads, advice, or opportunities.

Not getting interviews – Which resume should I use and should I broaden beyond cybersecurity?

I'm a recent CS graduate (Cybersecurity concentration) on OPT and have been applying for entry-level roles in the US, but I'm struggling to get interviews.

I currently have two versions of my resume and would love some honest feedback:

Which resume would you choose and why?
What are the biggest weaknesses?
What would you improve?
Should I continue focusing on cybersecurity roles, or should I broaden my search to IAM, GRC, NOC, IT Support, Cloud Support, etc.?

I've received feedback that my hands-on experience is solid, but I may be limiting myself by targeting mostly cybersecurity positions.

Any honest advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

[International CS grad on OPT] 100+ applications, only 3 interviews, running out of time

Hi everyone,

I’m an international student who recently graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science with a cybersecurity focus. I’m currently on OPT and need to find a related role soon to maintain my status.

I attached my resume. What should I improve on it?

Also, what roles would be the most realistic/easiest to target right now — SOC Analyst, Cybersecurity Analyst, IAM, GRC, NOC, IT Support, or something else related to CS/cybersecurity?

Any tips on job searching, networking, or getting interviews as an international student would be really appreciated.

Is Early Childhood Education (ECE) considered related to Nursing for a Canadian study permit?

Hi everyone,

I'm considering applying for a diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE) in Canada.

I have a Nursing background from my home country, and I'm trying to figure out whether ECE would be considered a reasonable continuation of my previous studies when it comes to my SOP and study permit application.

I can see some overlap since both fields involve child development, health, well-being, and working with children, but I'm not sure whether visa officers would view them as related enough.

Has anyone successfully transitioned from Nursing (or another healthcare field) to ECE? Do you think this academic pathway makes sense, or would it be considered too much of a field change?

I'd appreciate any insights or personal experiences. Thanks!

Anyone here used Migratemate?

Anyone here tried Migratemate?

Saw a lot of ads for it lately. I’m trying to figure out if it’s actually useful for international students on OPT/STEM OPT or if it’s mostly just hype.

Would love to hear real experiences tbh

Anyone on OPT doing part-time/contract work while job hunting?

I graduated in Cybersecurity and I’m currently on OPT trying to find a full-time role, but the market feels rough right now.

I’ve heard some international students do contract work, research, part-time IT jobs, or even volunteer technical work just to stop the unemployment clock while applying.

Has anyone here actually done that? What counted as valid employment for OPT/STEM OPT?
