Overwatch Shader pre caching update everyday

So Overwatch is kind of a mess on Linux regarding the compilation of DXVK shaders. There are a lot of posts about this already. The first issue i had with it was, that the game itself hat to recompile the shaders every launch. You can fix this by adding this to your /etc/enviroment:

__GL_SHADER_DISK_CACHE_SKIP_CLEANUP=1
__GL_SHADER_DISK_CACHE_SIZE=20737418240

That stopped the nvidia driver from deleting the shader cache after closing the game.

Also you can stop a shader compilation memory leak by adding this to the launch options:

DXVK_CONFIG="dxvk.trackPipelineLifetime = True"

Now i have a different problem tho. Steam always downloads an 2,6GB shader precaching update when launching steam the first time on a day. Everyday im greeted by the same 2,6GB shader cache update download.

Cause of that, steam also wants to compile the shaders before launching the game. I usually skip it, but even if let it compile to 100% (usually takes about 1 damn hour), its useless since steam will start over from the beginning the next day anyway.

This appears to fill up the steam game shadercache pretty much endless, im at 31GB now lol.

So how do i stop this? The game runs fine since it dosent have to recompile the shaders all the time, only steam appears to be the problem.

Pano Scroobler Linux wont remember settings after restart

Hello everyone,

im sorry if that is a bit offtopic, but i dont really know where to ask elsewhere since Pano has no official community.

I got an issue with the .tar.gz Version of Pano Scroobler, after a restart of my PC it wont remember any of my settings. The login is also gone and i have to relogin.

I thought of wrong file permissions but they are open (777). Also the terminal log dosent show anything error related to saving the settings.

Anyone else had this issue before?

Slackware 15 - Problem with glibc and AppImages

Hello everyone,

ive been using Slackware 15 for half a year now and im really happy with it. While being really stable, using old librarys makes compilation of newer Programs a bit difficult.

In these cases i usually look for a flatpak or an AppImage. Flatpak works perfectly so far but almost all AppImages of newer Software always complain that my glibc is too old.

Compiling a newer glibc to replace the one from the Slack repo is probably not an option, since i fear this would break my system.

Is there anything else i can do thats not switching to Slackware current? Can i tell the AppImage (or libfuse) to look for glibc elsewhere?

How to record on Braun TG1000

How do i record on this Braun TG1000 reel to reel device? This is my first time ever using reel to reel tape.

The connectors in the first image are labeld left (top) and right (bottom). I dont know if these are inputs or outputs tho.

I already looked for a user manual online but i can only find service manuals.

Could someone help me? Thanks!

Steam Deck controller only working in Desktop mode when playing Dex (2015)

Hello everyone,

ive got a strange issue with the game Dex, the native Linux Version from GOG to be exact.

If i launch the game in desktop Mode from inside Lutris the controller works as expected. If i try the same from Deck UI tho, the game dosent recognise a controller at all.

I already played around with the Steam Input Presets a lot. Also tryd disabling steam input all together but still no luck.

Did someone here already have an issue like that?

Im running the latest SteamOS Stable and up to date Lutris flatpak.
