I like big moths and I cannot lie 😉

Its a thing 🙄 and I was apparently doing it to myself, walking past the expensive prismacolor pencils and coloring books with the good thick paper, telling myself its too much $ to spend in myself just to color. It wasnt until I bought them and was coloring next to my husband and him saying out loud that he doesn't feel like he is "artsy" enough to use the color pencils I bought. It took me a few days to put together that we were kinda getekeeping ourselves from something because somewhere we started to believe its not ok to spend $ on things like good color pencils.

Its been decades since I used these and OMG I miss it. It feels like when I started buying stuffed animals after my diagnosis a few years ago, but better 🥰

Caught this guy yesterday in the shade getting in a little rest 😍

I noticed a small caterpillar, about a half inch long, on some flowers I cut and brought inside. Realizing it had been there almost a week and seeing no damage to the flowers, I grabbed some bean leaves from the garden and the next day it doubled in size! My husband and I made a small terrarium with creeping jenny (gone overnight), parsley (not its favorite) and bean leaves (2nd favorite), with a few sticks and rocks.

We tried to identify it but are having trouble, we think its going to be a moth. Weve had it about 2 weeks, its about an inch and a half now, its the color of a stick 😄 and it seemed to have black 'eyes' down its sides but they blended in and arent so dark now. I don't want to poke around at it, thats the best pic we have. We are in zone 9.

This is a 16 year old arthritic, half deaf, half blind beagle with dementia... but still acts like a puppy!

I brought the trash out last night, it was mostly empty, the worst she got to was licking breakfast sausage grease from some parchment paper, maybe ate a little paper towel, but all trash was accounted for, no pieces missing!

This has happened one other time, we didn't have a camera then and thought our other dogs pushed over the trash can. Nope! Just this little lady and her beagle ingenuity!

And they are not disappointing!

I planted 40 gladiolus around my yard, this is the first so far! 😍

Made me sweat for about an hour!

My cat tipped me off, she was focused on under the fridge, I leave my door open with the storm door shut but I guess there's a gap! I put away all of my pets, by then it was checking out the stove that shares a wall with our TV. I opened the door and turned up the tv, stomped my feet, sang loudly badly... anything I could think of to make it want to go towards the door... I watched it leave about 10 mins later 🫠

I know its a good snake! I live in a rural area and have seen quite a few snakes... outside... I hope this is the last that invites itself in!

Hi! I posted about my 16 year old beagle vomiting the other day and asked about acupuncture, thank you so much for the advice and suggestions!

She's ok for now 🥰 we figured some things out. One being that she is a very spry 16 year old beagle that is going to be with me a bit longer and I'm so relieved. I thought I was seeing the signs... we aren't there yet.

We got some anti nausea meds for a few days, changing to the sensitive stomach soft food which she does not mind at all 😄 Continuing with 5mg famotidine 2x day for a bit too, may be permanent.

They ran labs, some levels elevated but not enough for concern, is expected levels for a 16 year old dog getting past a recent UTI and gastro upset. We did get a prescription supplement Denamarin to help support her little liver 🙂

We wanted to do an ultrasound to check things further, couldn't get her on her back 😑 but the short time they were able to get the wand on her was enough to confirm there are no tumors or large growths. We plan on revisting the ultrasound another day, she does need this checked further.

We are getting referred to their acupuncturist, I'm really interested in seeing the results!

Selegiline: saw this medication on the link someone provided on doggie dementia, asked the vet about it. I was interested in hearing more, she is doing well still on her own and doesn't need the heavy sedation gabapentin offers. The Selegiline helps protect and support nerves, result is a calm happy dog, this was more the route I was interested in going. The vet gave us a 5mg prescription to try for 2 months, cautioned that at their clinic they do not often see enough benefit to continue the medication. She's generally happy, I haven't noticed any negative behaviors other than the stubborness increasing, hoping this does work for her so we never even get close to entering negative territory. 🤞

Hi! I need some help caring for a senior beagle, advice is welcome!

She's 16 and overall doing really well, having trouble with food and vomiting. Please be assured we regularly see the vet and have a follow up tomorrow! Its just a lot. And it's hard.

I'm currently dealing with late night/early morning vomiting. We were trying gabapentin as a response to sundowning. We stopped it for now because it sedates her too much and its when the vomiting started. She's normal during the day. We were doing calming treats up until then, its been about 2 weeks with the gabapentin.

She was also on a course of antibiotics for an UTI. Both medications finished 2 days ago, the vomiting was a small amount at first but is now more. Its not only bile, its food from her last meal also. She is fine with breakfast and no vomiting during the day.

I read a bit about senior dogs and am understanding now that their digestive system needs some support and feeding smaller meals throughout the day could help. Feeding the last meal earlier could help too, so the food isn't sitting in their stomach all night. Has anyone had this issue and seen improvement doing this?

She's already on a probiotic and joint supplement. I add sweet potato to her food normally but have switched to the sensitive stomach oat/beef soft food for now. I add a bit of dry food, she picks it out and goes back to eat it later 🙄😄

The vet mentioned tradnazone as an alternative, and offered acupuncture for her arthritis and to help with an old back injury. Has anyone tried acupuncture? I'm reluctant to try the tradnazone, she is alert in the mornings, its mostly the pacing/sundowning that I'm having trouble managing.
